Maplewood Senior Living

I looked at several facilities and this is the best one. We have not been disappointed. I can't rate the activities because my mother has not participated in them. Overall, we are very pleased with this facility!

My mother has mild dementia. She was living independently until 91 years old, still strong and able to take care of herself. She began to show signs of paranoia and mild dementia. Because she was so independent, the other facilities that we looked at decided that she needed to be in a 24 hour locked unit with Alzheimer's patients (this is for someone who was able to shop, cook, clean on her own)! Basically they were afraid she would simply leave and were not concerned about what was right for her, but what was easiest for them. Maplewood was a different story. They took my mother into a unit where she is able to interact with all of the residents regardless of their mental status. She can eat and participate in activities with everyone. But, they do provide extra assistance when she is stressed or paranoid. Her wing is locked at night, but not during the rest of the day. I can't speak more highly of Maplewood's devotion to meeting my mother's needs. The staff is amazingly kind. The food is fabulous. My mother still wishes that she could live independently, but she can't and I thank God for Maplewood.

Maplewood is a lovely, caring community. The staff keeps you up to date on the progress of your loved one. The surroundings are beautiful and well maintained. More like a B&B than assisted living. Expensive, but well worth it.

This is an all over excellent community. It's clean and the staff is friendly. I would recommend this to anyone for their loved one.

My loved one was here for quite a long time, and it was a wonderful place. They had an amazing activities director, and were great about encouraging the residents to participate in everything that they offered. She had a beautiful, spacious apartment, and the care they offered was wonderful. They also did an amazing job with the food! They had a large, varied menu to choose from, and the food itself was delicious. Unfortunately her care needs advanced past what they were able to provide here, we would have loved to be able to stay.

My mother has been at Maplewood at Danbury for a year & a half & I highly recommend it! The entire staff is very loving, & kind, I feel that Mom gets the best of care. She is always clean, as are her clothes & room. She has severe dementia, but my stress is all gone knowing she is in a beautiful place, with understanding, caring aides! I can honestly say that I have nothing negative that I can say. I have complete peace of mind with her being there! They also have lots of activities for the residents, and the food is excellent!

My father's transition to the Maplewood memory care unit required a very high skill level. I was initially very skeptical that he would ever be able to live in a community, but the staff demonstrated consistently that they were up to the challenge. This is not to say that there were not bumps in the road, but I finally feel that some one other than me is capable of handling this cantankerous man with dementia.

My sister & I toured Maplewood with the thought of moving our mother from Baton Rouge. We were very impressed and sure my mother would be well cared for there. We loved it; beautiful inside and out. Staff seems very caring. I would recommend in a heartbeat.

Our loved one is extremely happy here. Liz was very helpful, and seems to be a caring, sensible person. They have continuous care here, you can stay to the end of life. They have been extremely helpful. He has made new friends, they were able let him keep his dog. There is a place to go for a walk nearby without being on the main street. The food is pretty good. It's a very good fit. There is a good church nearby, within walking distance. I loved the greenery and the trees all around too, it didn't look like a ten story office building.

My loved one hasn't moved in quite yet, but after all of my tours and the work I've done with the staff I've had nothing but good experiences with Maplewood! The facility itself is well kept, clean, and very nice looking. The staff, from the caregivers to the administration, have all been very friendly and easy to work with.

They could do a little more with the variety, of the activities. The food would get a 4, sometimes things aren't always hot. There is a new chef so that may improve. They have been very efficient, I really have no complaints. I like the floorplan it's all one level and the circle design is nice. In the center they have a very nice garden area that is outdoors and very large. All the rooms have a window that looks to the outside. It's nice too that the inside looks like the outside with porches in front of every door. Some rooms that open outside have a patio, and everyroom has a private bedroom and bath with a kitchenette/living area.

This was the second facility we tried for my Mom who has dementia. They were incredibly supportive in a very difficult situation. Mom has been there for five weeks now and while the first two weeks were difficult (not due to the facility, but to Mom's challenges) she has settled in and is doing incredibly well. Her anxiety has diminished dramatically and she seems to be having a much better quality of life than she was when living alone.

They are very clean and they are friendly. The food is good but I find when I go to see my dad it is a little sparse, and even some of the other residents complain, that there is not quite enough. I find that it is very bland, maybe it's fine for the other people there but I don't think it's enough for him. I don't think it has anything to do with the staff or the cook, maybe it's just the way the food needs to be managed. I think they serve him very nice, and they are friendly and always try to help them. They do have a lot of activities. I wish dad would participate more. They are very plush and new, colorful and is very well designed with everything on one floor. No question about it, the care is definitely there!

Absolutely lovely community. Very bright, very welcoming. Care staff is very upbeat, residents seemed happy and very social. Love the farm to table food concept and what I tasted was excellent. Apartments were the nicest I have seen of all the assisted living communities I have toured. If this were in Putnam or Dutchess we would have already booked Mom's arrival. Unfortunately, it turns out to be a 75 minute drive (without traffic) for my brother, and it's in the opposite direction from where he works/lives. I would highly recommend anyone considering assisted living communities in the Danbury area put Maplewood on their list.

I love living in this lovely, quiet, bright facility. The entire staff is dedicated to our comfort & well-being. Medical staff is very professional. Overall the atmosphere is caring and prompt to meet residents needs; efficient & well-run facility. Minuses - food could be fresher, more seasoning and varied.

[name removed] lives on our memory care floor, as her husband has advanced dementia and is in need of round the clock care, [name removed] is fully cognitively present. she appreciates how our team looks after her husband, both physically and mentally, so that she can continue to live everyday life without feeling like she has to consistently be watching him.

My review: 1. This is a small community of seniors living with a semblance of respect and dignity. 2. Various daily activities to interest and occupy time meaningfully. 3. Staff is up-beat, very friendly and willing to help people. 4. Premises are maintained and look good. 5. There is live music and entertainment for us to enjoy. 6. The Activity Director spends a lot of time here making sure activities are meaningful. 7. Dining room is clean. Meal presentation is professional. Most meals are warm, some could be warmer. 8. Wait staff interacts with residents, are cheerful and helpful. 9. Senior Director holds frequent staff meetings to discuss problems and solutions. 10. It takes time to establish a routine and make new friends. 11. Costs are rather high, but what's new? 12. We love front door and back door to courtyard. 13. Cleaning crews are efficient. 14. Laundry crew does a good job folding clothes. 15. When I ask for help, it comes quickly.

This is a better community than most. The staff and community itself makes it better in my opinion. The food is very good, and they do a nice job. Games, outings around town, gardening, movies, and more are activities for the residents to choose from.
