Maplewood Senior Living

I want to say that Maplewood has been a gift to our family . After almost 6 years at home cared for by my mom, having some inhome health care givers, going to day activity centers, it became time to find a more secure and inclusive place for him to live. This is an emotional and difficult decision for any family. Unfortunately, our first choice was the wrong choice. This move was followed up by a 2 week hospital stay and 2 weeks in a skilled nursing facility . Our searches for a permanent place during that month brought us to Maplewood of Cuyahoga Falls. We have visited many places. The time Maplewood takes to screen and train their caring employees makes such a difference in the level of care they provide. People make the difference. They take time to learn about the individuals they care for. Families are welcome to Maplewood anytime. The freshly prepared foods at every meal, the bright windowed rooms and the overall positive atmosphere make Maplewood superior to any other facility we viewed. Take the time to have a tour and talk with family members of residents. The staff do all they can to make an atmosphere filled with HEART - the Maplewood philosophy of care giving.

This is a new community that is updated, secure, and big. When I first came for a tour they were friendly and welcoming and I felt like they wanted to create a family environment and interaction. My mom is in the Memory Care and she has the whole 2nd level to walk around and not feel like she is locked up. She has settled in and every single staff from PT to OT has welcomed her. They have helped improved her mobility and nutrition. She eats as much as she want or can without waiting long. She loves the musical interaction, the guitarist comes daily.

This community has done a outstanding job with my loved one. She is really enjoying it here and she has been trying to get involved with some of the activities that they have. They are really doing good at helping her make the transition. She also liked the food.

My loved one is really enjoying her stay at the Maplewood at Danbury. The staff at this community was over the top. They always have a smile on their face and have a very kind approach to everything. My cousin is impressed with how much she is enjoying her stay. The memory unit is updated and very accommodating. The physical therapist is wonderful my loved one is now walking a lot more with her walker rather than using her wheelchair. The sales associate Joan a very kind and authentic person. All of the staff look like they love their job and they are very happy which projects a positive atmosphere. The place does not have an institutional look which i really liked. They also take my loved one wherever she needs to go such as to get a haircut or her nails done. The community is kept very clean and has an open concept layout.

This is a great community for my mom. She seems to be well taken care of with a wonderful staff. The food is very good and they offer a good variety. She is happy with the activities available. I would highly recommend this for other families.

The people are fantastic. They understand and continue to work hard to make my AUnt's stay as happy as possilbe.

My wife has acclimated very well to the community. She is participating in all of the activities offered. I am very satisfied with the staff and communication. Both my wife and I enjoy the variety of food offered. Maplewood is spotless every time I visit there is never an unpleasant odor.

We are very pleased with this community. My mother really likes it here and everything is going very well. It is a very positive and nurturing environment. We are very pleased with all they have done for us. A Place For Mom was wonderful with all the help they gave us.

After spending several months researching assisted living companies, my family choose Maplewood at Strawberry Hill as the next home for my aging father. It's not that competitors were bad (several were quite good), rather none had the excellence throughout of Maplewood. While many assisted living facilities have immediate availability, there's a reason Strawberry Hill is full with a wait list. They simply are the best assisted living option in Fairfield County. From professional, personalized caregiving to high quality dining, cleanliness and friendly staff, Maplewood is five star throughout. My father is happy and noticeably improved cognitively and physically since moving into Strawberry Hill. As for myself and the rest of our family, we're relieved and comforted we made the best assisted living choice possible for Dad. When comparing Maplewood to competitors be sure to ask about intermediate level memory care. To my knowledge, no area competitor offers the quality of cognitive care among general assisted living residents that Maplewood does. This is extremely important! Many facilities offer dedicated, secure memory floors for residents with severe dementia and/or Alzheimer's. Maplewood offers this too but also offers intermediate level memory care, allowing your loved one to remain among the general assisted living population where they'll be much happier and interactive for as long as possible before moving onto a dedicated memory care floor. I do not hesitate in recommending Maplewood at Strawberry Hill in any way, shape or form. They are the best and represent excellent value when comparing apples to apples with competitors.

When you walk in the door of Maplewood, your first impression will be how can I make this work, and I cannot afford it! But two weeks later my mom is laughing, participating in activities and doing better than I expected. She is smiling in photos they forwarded me, not saying cheese with that forced smile. I know her smile, and in the months prior to her move into Maplewood, I have not seen it. I only saw the lost look on her face and empty sad eyes. The entire staff is compassionate and very dedicated to their careers. I never encountered so many professionals who reminded me that I need to trust them to do their jobs and when you let go of your mom and place that trust in their hands, the endless nights of worrying become a comfort in knowing I made the right decision. If something unexpected arises, they will do everything to make mom's days and nights with less agitation for her. It's all about mom! Everyone is accessible via email, or cellphone, or just a phone call away. I feel very connected and I am grateful for the awesome staff and their dedication everyday to the residents of Maplewood at Brewster.

As we begin 2016, we are so grateful that our mother is still with us and so profoundly grateful to you and to Maplewood. Every day my family and I think about what an amazing thing you did for us. She is so comfortable and comforted at Maplewood. Being at Maplewood has given us more time with my mom, and has helped us care for my father as well. One of the few things she can truly enjoy is food and she responds to and loves the food. The staff works so hard to create meals she can eat and enjoy, and the fact that I can nip in there and get her treats and tea etc anytime is so hugely helpful for us. The nursing and medical staff has been the biggest and most important thing for her and for us. They are just incredible. Knowing each one of them and their deep commitment to their profession has been an endless comfort to us. All that mindful and loving nursing care is helping us have this extra time with her - it means the world to us. They pay such close attention and are so responsive and so professional. Every one of them has helped keep my mother with us, and helps keep her as peaceful and comfortable as she can be. We feel very lucky to have your nurses overseeing her care. Thank you for being there and doing what you do!

My father is 91 years old with vascular dementia. Maplewood at Strawberry Hill is big enough to have everything he needs but small enough to be personal. The staff is extremely friendly and on a first name basis with everybody. They understand the needs of each individual resident and also the needs of the families of the residents.

This community sets the bar in excellence. My husband and I made a difficult decision earlier in the year to move my mother from another assisted living. My mother was declining and I was terrified if the move would contribute to her fast progressing decline. Almost a year later I could not be more thankful for each person at Maplewood Strawberry Hill. My mother is now walking with little assistance, gained 15 lbs with a now proper nutritional intake, and has made so many friendships. Christina (runs events/activities) really cares for my Mom and helps her remain active. Nursing (Shantel & Jenn) are always available to answer any questions. Amy (director of facility) is readily available for me and strives to satisfy. From the minute i visited this facility with Leslie- I knew it was the best place. Almost 1 year later, I still feel this way. Thank you Maplewood for giving me my mother back.

My loved ones have only been here a short time, but so far we're all very impressed with Maplewood at Newtown! My loved ones seem happier and more relaxed now that they are getting some help, and my family is much more at ease knowing that they've got someone looking in on them. The staff here made the entire move-in process very easy, they really helped with the paperwork, and even helped my loved ones hang some paintings once they were settled in!

We are so grateful to Maplewood. I don't know what we would have done without them. They do so good with communication with all of our services. They really gave us a home here. They have a beautiful outdoor patio space. They have a really high level of care, but it doesn't feel like a nursing home.

Thoroughly enjoyed meeting Christine and some of the other employees at Maplewood. A beautiful, well run residence. This was my first visit to an assisted living residence and I was very impressed.

Went to pick up Lobster Dinner for the annual cause, it was fantastic! Mom has been there 3 weeks now and I can't say enough about how happy the family is on moms transformation from being at her home. We are all glad she is in Maplewood of Danbury. Its the perfect place for her! Everyone is so nice and helpful. Thank-You!

The facility at Maplewood at Danbury is very clean, and the people there are all extremely friendly every time I go there. They are right on top of things and do an excellent job caring for my mother and making sure she is happy.

They do a great job at Maplewood at Heather Hill, I'd give them top marks across the board! The staff here are friendly and helpful, and they are very very good with the residents. They form a real personal bond with the people that they take care of. The facility itself is attractive and clean, and the food has always looked good. I would highly recommend this place!

I have the highest praise for the Maplewood at Heather Hill facility and its staff. The facility is beautiful – homelike, scrupulously clean, inviting, filled with natural light. There are many different areas where the residents can gather and relax – great room, library, greenhouse, garden, and chapel. The apartments are beautifully decorated, with high ceilings, and additionally, each resident has their own dear little interior porch, where the residents can express individual interests and personalities. The dining room is lovely, and the members of our family join our mother there frequently – delicious, healthy food; attentive servers; and the chef will share her recipes! The administrative staff has been amazing – every request, question, email responded to immediately. Move-in was smooth and relatively easy because of their attention to detail. The Executive Director, Kevin Cook, and the Community Relations Director, Pattie Glavac, are present and involved with the residents on a daily basis, and they both work so hard to make the holiday celebrations special, along with Dimitra Thompson, the Program Director, who has many different activities scheduled daily. Dimitra’s guest lecturers and performers in the cultural/arts areas are often quite incredible – people you would not expect to encounter in an assisted living facility! I must also compliment the receptionists – they set a positive tone for every visit with their warm welcome. The cleaning and maintenance personnel are so helpful, and they are there almost immediately when a problem arises. I hardly know how to thank the multitude of nurses and aides who care for my mother. Her move from independent living to assisted living was sudden - precipitated by an accident - and she has had a difficult time adjusting to her new situation. Every nurse and aide has been unbelievably patient and supportive. My mom cannot walk halfway down the hall without someone stopping to give her a hug, and they truly listen when she talks about her feelings; yet they are firmly encouraging as they help her, and our family, integrate Mom into the Maplewood community. My entire family has been so happy with the Maplewood experience, and we are so grateful for all everyone does to help my mother, and our family, transition to this new phase in our lives. They definitely deliver on The Maplewood Promise!
