The heating system is either on or off. Once the building g switches to heat, AC cannot be used. I find The Arbors very hot when I visit my mother. Wearing sleeveless in the winter is a must.

The Arbors at Stoneham review

The staff are extremely nice, helpful and have great response times. The meals and dining service is a hit or miss, the main diet is a lot of chicken and pasta, they could do more with a variety. Everything is included with the price - big reason we chose this community. No nickel and dime.

Our Tour Experience

Our tour was very good. They made sure to show us all the amenities - pools, gyms, all sorts of things. I still can’t get over the idea of getting around the place without getting lost. But there's a lot here to offer. You just have to know how to ask for and navigate and take advantage of everything to get the full value.

A Nice Place to Stay

The community is good, but it has had some turnover in nursing staff. I am not sure if this is because of the industry or just the community as a whole. The community is very good and they are friendly. The Ivy is aligned in price with other communities. The care services has been lacking due to medication doses missing or if they run out and don't notify me. The activities are good and I know that the activity director just left. However, my loved one likes the new activities director.

New facility, not full yet and surrounded by construction, but beautifully sized rooms and the people we met were very caring and willing to work with us and our somewhat complicated situation. Not sure if the location will work for us, though.

I like this facility

I’m happy with this facility and the care they’ve provided to my Mom. The staff is good, she has a lovely room, and the food looks fine and well balanced. They have a lot of scheduled activities for the residents, with at least 2 of them in the morning and 2 in the afternoon, including trivia, bingo, musical events, and even carolers will come by during the holidays. The cleanliness is fine, I have no complaints with that, and housekeeping comes by once a week or as needed. The only thing I wish I had known ahead of time is that they have a policy to call the EMTs anytime a resident falls, regardless of if they’re okay. The staff will not pick them up and as far as I know, no other community around here has that kind of policy. Overall, though, I would recommend them to others.

So far so good

My loved ones have only lived here a short time, however things are going well. They have hired a new chef. The caregivers have been great and the people I worked with in the beginning were wonderful. The community is clean and the grounds are well maintained. This is a newer community that is bright, cheery, active and has a warm feeling when you walk in.

I want to see some changes

I chose this community because I live and work near the facility and I could visit my mom frequently. The transition from independent living and assisted living has been a bumpy road for her. I like the facility and the apartment is cleaned very regularly. There’s never any strange smells in the halls like other places. The laundry facility, kitchen, and carpet are always clean. They do offer laundry services but that is an additional fee. My mother says the food is substandard but the lunch service is the best of all 3 meals offered. She has also taken to a few nurses who have been exceptional. The facility does offer activities like Wii bowling, bingo, crafts, wine and cheese every Friday, and movie nights. But, there are a few downfalls to this facility. I don’t think she’s getting the quality of care that I’m paying for. The some of the staff isn’t the best. My mom is in a wheelchair and there was one instance where the nurse got upset because she had to move a small end table. She didn’t have to lift it or anything; just slide it. The nurses often times say really inappropriate things to my mom about how they don’t want to do certain things. She has specific days set up for showers and the nurses flat out refused to come in and help her so I had to come in at night after work and shower her. I’ve brought this to the attention of the staff and I really do hope it will change. I’m not saying I wouldn’t recommend this facility but I want to see some changes.

The Arbors

My father moved in on [date removed]. He fell and was taken to hospital 5 times, with 2 admissions. Still is in rehab. Has barely been at the Arbors since his move in date. Doctors questioned me about his safety at the facility and recommended I take him out. He will not be going back there when discharged from rehab.

Our Experience

My mom was previously a resident at The Arbors at Greenfield. The staff was good until management told them to provide no care when my mom turned for the worst. So much so that they would not even get her out of bed. Workers would not even look at us when we visited. At this point, she was on palliative care. Soon, we had hospice care. I realized that she was not a candidate for assisted living anymore. They just wanted her out. The facility would be fine for assisted living, not so much for memory care. Their bookkeeping needs improvement. Lost records, double billing etc.

Tour experience

The Arbors felt like an old-time hotel but with people in wheelchairs nodding off in the lobby. The units were nice but the long walk on carpeted flooring (not great for wheelchairs) and the stiff nature of door intros to residents added to the typical "old people" feel of the place. The one thing I pointed out that I liked (a pretty upstairs open porch) was not, I was told, recommended to residents. I guess they thought it would isolate them? I have to say the difference in sales folks between [facility name removed] and the Arbors was immense. At the Arbors, every other sentence was "we don't provide that." The opposite was true at [facility name removed] - much of the difference might have been the person touring me, but the difference in attitude couldn't have been greater.

If you are in the memory care unit the staff to resident ratio isn't sufficient on the weekends. They have good meals and are given two choices for lunch and dinner. If a resident doesn't want to go to eat it is more laxed on the weekends due to the staffing. The activities people are very caring. Overall I feel the staffing is short.

Not Exactly What I Hoped

They have a good sales pitch, the marketing person was good. The administrator was very helpful and understanding. They keep the residents in their rooms, and they don't have a lot of activities for the residents to choose from or participate in. I think they are understaffed, overall.

Friendly Feeling

We toured was nice and the community is clean and maintained. The manager was not making us feel comfortable. They have a good menu and they offer activities. We wanted a community that made us feel comfortable and with the manager not making us feel welcome that would not be in the best interest for care for a friend

My Tour Experience at The Arbors at Taunton

The Arbors to be honest reminded me of College dorms for the elderly. We were not impressed especially for the cost each month. My loved one chose another community.
