The heating system is either on or off. Once the building g switches to heat, AC cannot be used. I find The Arbors very hot when I visit my mother. Wearing sleeveless in the winter is a must.

My loved one used to live in this community. This is a good community, smaller and much less going on. I feel like they lacked staff and I felt like I could provide more care sometimes compared to what they provided.

If you are in the memory care unit the staff to resident ratio isn't sufficient on the weekends. They have good meals and are given two choices for lunch and dinner. If a resident doesn't want to go to eat it is more laxed on the weekends due to the staffing. The activities people are very caring. Overall I feel the staffing is short.

Not Exactly What I Hoped

They have a good sales pitch, the marketing person was good. The administrator was very helpful and understanding. They keep the residents in their rooms, and they don't have a lot of activities for the residents to choose from or participate in. I think they are understaffed, overall.

Friendly Feeling

We toured was nice and the community is clean and maintained. The manager was not making us feel comfortable. They have a good menu and they offer activities. We wanted a community that made us feel comfortable and with the manager not making us feel welcome that would not be in the best interest for care for a friend

My Tour Experience at The Arbors at Taunton

The Arbors to be honest reminded me of College dorms for the elderly. We were not impressed especially for the cost each month. My loved one chose another community.

Our families experience

From top to bottom this community needs improvement - especially with the house keeping, there are clogged sinks and unclean toilets. All the services that they offer are being switched - so everything that was promised and expected is not being followed through with. The activities are especially lacking - there is an exercise class at 9:30 and rosery at 10:00 with a couple random things like bingo and knitting after dinner.

Would Not Recommend

If your loved one is a person who likes to be with people and stay active or needs extra care, i.e. physical therapy or a little help getting ready in the morning, then The Arbors may not be the place for your loved one.

I rate it a 1 and would not recommend this facility. My dad was there for a month but fell 5 times and was in the hospital more than being at Arbors. When he was there and there was an activity going on, such as rolling a ball to each other across the table. The activity person or aides sat on the sides of the room on their phones. I was ended up having to chase after the ball when it kept falling on the floor. I also had to help a few residents that didn't know what to do with the ball when it came to them. When the nurse came in to help my dad go the bathroom she started calling me to come help her. I said no, I am not helping my father pee. Ridiculous!!! When my dad left that facility I gave the 30 day notice per the contract I signed. I was supposed to receive around [amount removed] back, again per the contract. [name removed] did the walk through with me and said I would receive the check probably in about a week. Instead, they sent me to a collection agency saying I owed them money. I had good communications with the woman at the collection agency. She tried calling Arbors herself to talk to [name removed] or whoever else. Nobody got back to her. She tried on several occasions over a 2-3 week period of time to get in touch with them but got nowhere. She then told me don't pay the bill, I did not owe it. I never received the [amount removed] I was supposed to get back after the 30 day notice. The facility itself is really nice and welcoming. The staff, not so great. Some of the aides were very nice!!!

would not recommend, it did not meet expectations.

I would not recommend the Ivy Memory Care facility. When interviewing them prior to move in, many promises were made to aid in transition that were not met. Not enough staff; activities- well, very few - hours spent in front of tv, coloring - not enough table space besides not all could hold markers and no alternate choice; activity room size inadequate; food did not meet needs of my mother as she could not cut her food and staff "not allowed to help". As my mother, declined and needed 2 aides to get in and out of bed (no hoyer allowed), took more time to dress, wash, eat - we were told we needed to hire a personal care aide which we did. At our interview, we were told she could age in place - no indication that we'd have to provide more aides. Cleanliness - 3+ in her apartment. She was incontinent so accidents - they cleaned carpet 1 or 2 times (still smelled) and then said once a year is their policy. Surface cleaning. Once we hired personal care aide, the Ivy stopped doing her laundry and sheet changes... Friendliness gets a 4-5, but the aides were not always available to help with transfers, bed to wheelchair and back...We had an aide call out, I was there and waited over 11/2 hours for assistance - they were in activity room sitting at the sides table - where they were often. The personal aides reported the same problem - not always, but yes, it happened. Well, we have nothing to compare to but I don't believe the care she got justified the cost, particularly after we retained personal care aides.

Substandard care for residents with memory and physical issues

I need greater than 1000 words to allow readers a complete understanding of what transpired with my mother. Let it suffice to say the treatment my mom received was deplorable and not what was promised by management. At the end, I pulled her out URGENTLY, as I did not expect her to survive much longer in their care. We were mislead, lied to, by the activities director and the executive director. The staff did the very best they could do, but one caregiver to 2 floors is dangerous and unacceptable. The focus at the Ivy is on profit, not resident care. It is my strong belief had the Ivy cared for my mother, providing her with the appropriate care promised by management, she would still be with me. I think the Ivy is a good place for people who have no memory loss, dementia, Alzheimer's, who can truly fend for themselves. If you have a loved one who is compromised mentally, in any way, the Ivy is NOT the place for you. As it's been said, buyer beware!

Think twice before placing a loved one at this facility.....

The Arbors is very expensive, but they never have enough staff to care for residents. I cook for my Mom, who has been there for about two years, her and always make enough for leftovers for a few extra meals. I write to nursing staff and leave notes in her room for staff to offer the leftovers to my Mom, yet they never prepare the leftovers for her (she doesn't like the food there) and I end up throwing out my Mom's favorite meals. Home cooked food is something she looks forward to. Staff, including the Executive Director, act like they are doing you a favor to simply do anything for your loved one. There have been multiple incidents where my Mom didn't get her medications (they were put in her microwave!) and ongoing theft. Management, enables rather than deals with these issues. When her refrigerator was broken, rather than replace it they put a huge bucket in the refrigerator which collected brown water that was leaking. I would not recommend this facility to anyone.

Not enough staffing, be careful!

Stay away! They take your money, but do not take your loved one. So much greed, more concerned with the bottom line. Also, its probably it didn't work out for the best, there is only 2 aids for all 80 units, this can't be safe.
