I am not a resident but am a frequent visitor. When my parents entered Blakehurst, I was pleased - I though it the right decision. For the first few years, things went well. Services were provided and the food was typically very good. Care was adequate. There were good attempts in hosting special events. The outdoor grilling was a favorite for many. Fast forward to the last 1-2 years. Food is not edible - really. Anyone want green beans with yellow spots? Food is so bad, the residents are preparing their own meals and throwing out what is provided. This is more stressful in time of COVID. Oh yes, let's talk about that. Residents are free to leave the facility without restriction. BUT, I cannot visit my parents. I cannot enter to even assist them when help is needed. Some residents cannot visit spouses in the medical facilities. How can Blakehurst allow residents to leave and go to dinner, have drinks with friends and interact with the public but then deny family from meeting one and other. The virus will get into Blakehurst from the interaction with the public. Prohibiting family and spouses spending time with one and other is simply heartless. Blakehurst was a good, friendly place that was safe for our aging population. For the initial investment and monthly dues, today it is simply wasteful. Enjoy life. Buy a small home and when care is needed, there are good senior care professionals out there. (Yes, you need to search for the good ones.) Life will be happier, and you can get the care you need. And yes, you can even save a bunch of money!

My relative was there for 2 years; I was very disappointed in the overall level of support; there was a lot of turnover and the billing and business office functions are substandard. They nickel and dime you for everything- make sure you know how to exit without hefty times- no consideration if the resident's condition changes. The assisted living was even worse.

My mom is currently here. If you are in a hurry for help it takes about 35 minutes. When the gal was asked why does it take that long she responded “that’s about right” when hospice came in to put an air mattress on the bed they threw the call light button on the night stand and never gave it to my mom . She got her neck stuck in the pillow and couldn’t call for help. I do not recommend this facility.

Building repairs needed for 1 year. Water goes off 3 times in 4 months. Poor investigation of inappropriate behavior of male staff toward female residents. Until several ladies came forward. Staff was dismissed. On their 3rd chef. However, they catered food until new Chef arrived. Most of staff make great effort. However, management is slow to support changes.

The staff tries hard to make things comfortable for the residents. Unfortunately, I cannot give this place more than 2 stars. My father was at Presidential for about 6 months. He paid close to $4,000 a month which was private pay. The food was absolutely horrible, and I couldn’t believe that they would allow serving the residents such poor quality meals. I would usually walk fast in the resident hallways, because the odor could be very bad. Also, they do not staff a registered nurse there which is of great importance especially to assess a health issue. The last thing a resident wants is to be sent to the Emergency room if it’s not absolutely necessary. I moved my father to a new assisted living facility. His new home is amazing. They take great care of him, the place is very clean, there is always a RN on staff, and his meals are delicious. I’m so happy that I got him out of Presidential Place!

Went to see the facility on a Friday and was impressed by the people and the location. Interested in the Independent Living and possibly the Assisted Living for a family member. Then on Saturday, a nurse from The Windsor shows up without an appt. at my relative’s door to do a “health assessment”. Obviously, there are lots of commission dollars involved in this decision. Be aware. They just dropped a few notches with these sales tactics.

I recently helped moved our Friend's Father into the Delaney. The Location is great and his room has a pretty good view of Lake Waco. However, the Management on duty the day of the move was discourteous. Couldn't believe it. Word to Upper Management, better train the local Management team! Our Friends also said they had issues with Management on setting up the meals, they wanted to spend more money, but staff was inconsiderate of them. Your only as good as your Management, Delaney!!!

My aunt lives there, constant changing staff and management. They can't keep good people for some reason? We get used to someone and then they are gone. Heath & Nursing is understaffed possibly enough to be a violation. Nice residents with plenty to do there but I wouldn't want my family living here because of the lack of health care staff.

If you are looking for a place for your loved one, look somewhere else. They don't care about their residents. The nurses there, [Removed] were unprofessional, hateful, and rude. In Assisted Living, the only assistance you get is with bathing, getting dressed, and they will give you your medications. Other than that, if you need something else, they tell you that your loved one can't stay there and they must move. The housekeeping is terrible. They had left old food out and ants were all over the place. They were crawling on my family member. I have voice messages recorded from rude nurses. I have videos of nurses and how they spoke to my family member. I have witnesses to what I heard and saw. I am reporting and showing everything to the State Board. They also show no compassion when a family member passes away. All they want is for their belongings to be moved out within 24 hours and they want the final bill paid immediately. Also - if you try talking to any of the directors, they are always conveniently in a meeting and can't be bothered.

My mother has been a resident at Clare Oaks for several years now, and until this past year have had no problems at all. In the past year, besides items going missing (told accidently thrown out and similar stories) have been frequently harassed by [name removed] regarding threats of paying more money or kicking my mother out. Being on Medicare and Medicaid, has not stopped her demands. Having her social security directed to Clare Oaks, is not sufficient. Yet again am getting threatening letters (and there was never a polite one to start with from this...person) demanding more money which doesn't exist, be sent to them, else my mother will be set out on the street. I cannot believe any place expected to care for a loved one, to be treated like this, and as I am thousands of miles away, being given deadlines of days in which to provide funds that do not exist, my reactions are not of the most kindly thought out. Be cautious when putting your own family in their care, else may happen to you as well.

If you're looking for a nice place to live and don't need to interact with their admin folks or managers at the health center, then this is a great place, even though it's on the expensive side. If, however, you're looking for a well run facility with staff that is responsive and is resident/patient focused, you're in for disappointment. For the money you're spending, they should be MUCH better. When they make a mistake, they'll say anything to your face to get away from you, but then they don't follow up or make any effort to resolve the issue.

I was very disappointed in the care my father received while there. took anywhere from 15 minutes to one time 55 minutes for someone to help him to bathroom. I finally gave up and started taking care of him myself. Most staff concerned more with filling out the paperwork and checking off the "I completed it" block rather than patient care. room cleaning dismal at best. food adaquate at best.

The assisted living and memory care units are very poorly staffed. Never enough aides or nurses to properly assist these residents. Especially the memory care, Clare Bridge. The Clare Bridge program is NOT being offered. The residents are just sitting around with aides that are sitting around discussing their day, loudly and culturally. It's really sad. The brochure and tour are not what is truly offered there. Please REALLY check it out before spending enormous amounts of money for very little care and lies about what is offered. Staff who are disorderly or show attitude. They are not given corrective action because of the color of their skin and the possibility of the persons using the term racist not to mention Brookdale can't afford to lose a warm body for staffing. Very few that are hired stay now they can't even get applicants in the door.

Parkwood is very understaffed, in the long term area. The wait time to recive help, for the following: going to the restroom, getting in and out of bed, changing clothes, etc. takes 30 minutes to an hour! In addition, going from the dining room back to the bedroom, takes WELL OVER AN HOUR! They are lucky if the have 2 CNA'S in one hall.

My mom has been living in the memory care unit at the waterway for 15 months. Her care was very good when she first moved in but about 6 months in it took a nose dive. The level of care from the paid employees as well as the director, med tech and nurse on call is poor at best. You can walk in at any time of day or night and find employees grouped together and talking amongst themselves while residents are left unattended and uncared for. I had to hire a private care giver to come every morning and bathe her and help her get dressed after repeatedly asking the director to address her needs. As her incontinence has increased, I have come to her room to find her sitting in wet clothing and her room needing to be cleaned. To find her caregiver for help in attending her is also a chore. Recently the med tech called me at 6:00pm Friday evening to tell me she needed to see a doctor and even said they had noticed the problem that morning. I am moving her out ASAP. I'm sure it is a great place to live if you are looking for independent or assisted living, but the memory care unit care is abysmal.

As a Nurse Practitioner, I would never recommend this facility. My Mom spent 4 weeks for rehab after fracturing her femur in the Park Lane section. . The PT & OT were outstanding! The facility was clean & very nice with large private rooms & nice furniture. The downside was the nursing care. Never enough help especially at night. Sometimes it would take an hour to have someone come after ringing for the nurse. If my Mom rang for assistance to the bathroom, it may take an hour for someone to come. Several times she was placed on a bedpan for nearly an hour because the staff would tell her to ring when she was done but they took their good old time. She learned quickly not to wait too long if she needed bathroom assistance. The food was also terrible which we had heard prior to her admission but we thought if everything else was quality, we could bring lunch & dinner to her everyday since we would be visiting. The food was all prepared meals brought in from another building which they then microwaved to reheat. Mostly dry and overlooked food. You can never leave a loved one in a nursing facility without someone checking on them. Also, at my request, the Director of Nursing met with me prior to my Mom being admitted. We reviewed her insurance coverage and any co-pay or deductibles. She informed me that there were no costs to my Mom as her insurance covered 100% of all costs. Three months after discharge, she received a bill for several thousand dollars. I called the billing office & they stated that this was her deductible and would not offer a payment plan. .
