Checkout means "you're on your own"

my mom just checked out of the rehab facility and we were very disappointed. The staff always seemed very friendly and were initially very attentive. However, once my mom decided she was going to check out and head home, the difficulties began. They would promise to come take care of something and then not do it, which is typical and unfortunate but not completely unexpected in busy situations. On checkout day, we were told the doctor would come that morning to take out the gastric tube. Then promised he would come in at 4pm. At 6pm we finally located him leaving the facility in the parking lot, and he managed to come back in and remove it so she could go home. Thank goodness because we had already taken everything home for her and she was no longer prepared to stay another night. When we got home, the medicines were a mess and the paperwork was difficult to read. When we called and spoke to the nurse at SP, she said she couldn't help us because they get rid of everything on patients when they check out - although it was less than 24 hours after. Medicines should be clearly walked through and explained and they had plenty of time to figure it out. We are hoping we have figured it out well enough to make it through the weekend and going to meet with her personal doctor to make sure we are on the right track. No help there from Signature Pointe.

Flashy looks with no substance.

Our Mother moved in Fall, 2015. When movers arrived at her apartment, it wasn't clean and the model furniture had not been moved out. Things haven't gotten much better, there is no disaster plan in place at this facility. When the weather got bad, she went to my sisters house because she didn't know what she would do. There hasn't been any discussion with the residents as to what they can do in case of a tornado. The food service is extremely poor, they have now switched to some kind of restaurant menu with 2 slices of ham and fries costing $14.00. The one meal my Mother ordered was stuffed peppers and the meat was raw when brought out, not to mention she waited over an hour for service. Lights are out in her apartment and she can't get them fixed. I wouldn't recommend putting a family member in this facility.

Cant judge a book

The community needs a complete overhaul. Every time I visited my mom, there's always something breaking down. The ceiling was leaking, they had a huge bucket for days collecting water, and you can always find the staff on their cell phones or sitting down. I will say, if you want to hear a lot of gossip and whats going on about the building, just sit in the room for awhile. The staff is so loud and gossiping just about anything. Better than a soap opera. Rehab was nice, In and out. no complaints Food was decent

1.5 stars for management

I rate 1.5 stars for management. When I originally went there my parents were evaluated. I was very afraid when we would run out of money and when the funds run out they said there would be medicaid. I was told everything would be fine. After a few weeks, they had to put my parents in two different rooms because of my dads dementia. I was told there was a waiting list for medicaid. I'm really unhappy that everything changed. Right now I'm trying to find an alternative for my parents.

This week it's okay, but we have had some issues.

This week it's okay, but we have had some issues. The attitude of the staff is not very good. The head nurse there, is pretty good, she knows where I am coming from. There have been maintenance issues. The billing has had a few issues as well. The food is about average. They do seem to have a lot of activities.

Called for information, but got the rude phone call back.

I called several times to get information about this senior living community, the front desk person was friendly, but she kept apologizing for not finding anyone to give me information. I finally ended up the voice mail of the executive director, even though the voice was the same as the front desk person. Left my name and number and was interested in getting some information. It took this woman, three days to call me back, she apologized for not getting back to me earlier, I have been on her to do list to call for the last two days. Needless to say she wasn't able to help me, she said she was the executive director, she didn't have that information. She asked me permission to be put on hold, but I heard her put the phone down, but I was not on hold and I could hear everything. She was talking to another person, talking about she can't be bother with these information phone calls. I put her on my speaker phone at work, she was talking about patients, how she needs to go out for a liquid lunch and that as soon as she gets off the phone with this birch "me". She put on this sweet voice and said that she is about to run out for a meeting, but she was going to transfer my call to the salesperson. I hung up.

Short changed by Cypress Village

My mother lived here for over 11 years and was mostly satisfied although her rent was raised each and every year. But after a series of strokes last January, she ended up in CV's Health Center. When her Medicare was about to run out in March, my brother was advised to put her in CV's new Memory Unit despite the fact she seemed to have no memory problems. So he signed the papers and deposited over $7000 for the first month's rent plus a "community fee." But the day our mother was scheduled to move into the Unit she took a turn for the worse and was dead within 48 hours. While she was in Hospice we learned she had been dying for weeks if not months, something we feel the medical staff at CV should have been aware of. Since our mother never moved into the Memory Unit and her rent was paid up for the month of March, we expected a full refund of our money. But CV only refunded a portion of it, keeping over $3700 for the 9 days from when the contract was signed even though NO services were rendered. We are still fighting to get the rest of the money back but CV continues to ignore us. Brookdale Cypress Village is all about the bottom line, especially since merging with Emeritus in August -- now they are the biggest conglomerate providing senior living in the country. Buyers beware!

Brookdale's CV short-changed us when mother died

My mother lived here for over 11 years and was mostly satisfied although her rent was raised each and every year. But after a series of strokes last January, she ended up in CV's Health Center. When her Medicare was about to run out in March, my brother was advised to put her in CV's new Memory Unit despite the fact she seemed to have no memory problems. But the day our mother was scheduled to move into the Unit she took a turn for the worse and was dead within 48 hours. While she was in Hospice we learned she had been exhibiting most of the final signs of dying, something we feel the medical staff at CV should have been aware of. Since our mother never moved into the Memory Unit and her rent was paid up for the month of March, we expected a full refund of our money. But CV only refunded a portion of it, keeping over $3700 for the 9 days from when the contract was signed even though NO services were rendered. We are still fighting to get the rest of our money back. Brookdale Cypress Village is all about the bottom line, especially since merging with Emeritus in August -- now they are the biggest conglomerate providing senior living in the country. The incentive they offer for purchasing one of their apartments is the promise to ultimately use that money toward any Assisted Living needed in the future. But this is also an incentive for Cypress Village to keep your parent in their facility for as long as possible so as not to refund a portion of the purchase price after your parent dies. So my warning to you is this: BUYER BEWARE!

I had a tour here and it was horrible. They have a beautiful facility, but from the time I walked in the door, I was not impressed. The woman behind the desk was too lazy to even get up. She didn't listen to me and thought I wanted to visit a resident. She showed me to a room where the people were all slumped over and half asleep. The woman who was going to tour me wasn't in the right building so I know she wasn't listening when I said I was interested in memory care.

High Prices, Dark Community, No Personality Employees and Not lately Place for my parents

My Sister and I toured the Assisted Living facility with the nursing home director. This Assisted Living was very dark facility, the charge nurse we where introduced to, very hard to understand, can't imagine how my parent's would understand that nurse. She was speaking so fast and very aggressive about assessing my parent's. During the tour there wasn't any patients around, we asked the director touring us, she said a lot of patients are not very social. RED FLAG!!!! When we got the brochure for millcroft, there was no way that we could afford $258 for the first patient, $49 for the second person, that's over $ 9 Grand, NOT including "levels of care", that could run another $500 to $2700 a month. Total of $9500 to $11700. We looked at windsor place and gardens at white chapel, where half as much, much nicer facility, plus they both haves nurses that we felt more comfortable with and according to the the people touring us, they have nursing coverage 24 hours a day, compared to collecting, plus the patients looked very engaged in activities. We did look at the prices at Millbrook nursing home at Millbrook, the prices where lower then their assisted living.

We toured here, and realized this wouldn't work for our loved one. It's a buy in community, meaning that you pay a entrance fee. Also, this is a highrise building in downtown Chicago. It wasn't in a convenient location for my family, since we were looking for something in a more suburban setting.

Not using money well

They were really expensive, I've heard good things about them and I've heard bad things about them. They're spending their monies in the wrong ways. They're building this olympic sized pool and jacking up all the prices people pay. They're building this palacial thing worthy of a gym that 70 year old people don't need so we kind of avoided that.

Moved My Dad Out

Extremely substandard. My dad was in a room with broken tiles and it had a broken toilet that would just run and they didn't do anything about fixing it. That's why I moved him.

Depressing, Not Nice At All

It's supposed to be rated as one of the better places - I don't think so! It's not nice at all. My mother-in-law was there for rehabilitation and she would say to my yongest son, "Please get me out of here before I go crazy like the other people." It was a very depressing place. There were one or two people that work there that were nice and on the ball but it seemed like there was a lot of turnover. While she was there we had a coupld of things happen that she was not comfortable with. I hate to be negative but it was what it was.

The quality of the food and prices need improvement.

The food could really be improved and just well rounded, more of a variety. More fruit, vegetables, and protein and not just all carbs.

Dangerous Place

My grandmother has been here for two years in independent and assisted living. She had multiple falls, and the staff in independent living would never offer to check on her to see if she needed ems. My family twice had to put her into their car and take her to the hospital themselves after hours. There is no receptionist after five or weekends, so it is almost impossible for anyone to get her on the phone. Also, the med aid has answered the phone and said she was a nurse, which she is not and that is illegal. The director of assisted livinng is only an LVN, which requires a one year certificate. I call my grandmother to check in at night and she is always crying in pain because there is no one there who cares. This place is in no way safer or less isolating than her being at home alone.
