We moved my Mom to Clarendale Arcadia in December 2022. While it's a beautifully decorated building with some lovely staff, it is so cheaply built--from plastic toilet seats that fall off almost weekly to odd lumps and bumps in floors that can lead to a resident tripping in his/her own apartment, to food that is less than edible. They are lacking some much-needed and promised items--round the clock security that mans the front desk; two dining rooms (one sits empty); a full slate of activities; food that "fits" the price and the environment. Granted these are seniors, but I think they deserve better if they are going to charge these prices. Staff turnover has been huge--but that is to be expected in the industry. Hoping in their 2nd year things improve.

Clarendale has a beautiful building but unfortunately that's where it ends. Management is a disaster. Lots of talk but zero action. Complaints about bad food and terrible service are ignored. There are committees that meet to solve these problems but any reasonable suggestions are ignored. Clarendale's sales philosophy borders on craziness. With occupancy hovering around fifty percent, sales continues to charge for parking and miniscule storage areas. A nickel here and a dime there, seems to be the sales philosophy. Clarendale has some very good people but they are increasingly harder to find. This could be spectacular place to live but not with short sighted management!

Very friendly staff at this facility. Wonderful representation at the front desk! However, upon admission have found sales to be over promising and areas underperforming. Copious amounts of documentation about loved one is required so staff can become familiar with them, although it's apparent this is not done and certainly not with agency aides. Clothes have not been returned when washed and personal items have been lost. There is a lack of accountability with nursing staff at times. Memory Care director is fantastic and majority of employed aides are caring. The admission director and lifestyle director there are great as well.

I wouldn't necessarily say my experience was poor but it was just neutral. We picked this community because of the location.

Too much chicken and fish on the menu with no alternative items, that are different from chicken and fish. Most of the time food is served cold. Not real happy with meals served here.

We toured Burcham Hills during our search for an Assisted Living facility for our loved one. The electronic sign-in process was hard for my mom and she would have to do it with every visit. It was also the least accommodating with my loved one's wish to continue administering her own medication and by far had the worst smell of all of the facilities that we toured in the area.

Everyone is welcoming and nice and the food is good, but the issues with care are momentous. Last weekend, they let my mom lay in her bed for 48 hours and did not ensure she ate. We have been going there every day to make sure they are doing their jobs. They did not ensure she took her meds as she left them half dissolved on her dresser. We have asked for her to go to the dining room and put signs all over her room and they still don't always bring her down, leaving her food that she will not eat on her own. There is massive staff turnover that has lead to incredible issues with communication. She was readmitted from a hospital and no updates were made to her care plan until we demanded that they were or we were going to consult a lawyer. I had to wash her myself because no one gave her a shower as was in her plan.

My loved one was a resident at Clarendale Clayton. The facility itself is beautiful and brand new. The residents at this facility were very friendly. However, they only had two assistants for the entire floor. Not enough, and worse, the administration would not let the staff that I had hired around the clock to help my loved one fill in the gaps where Clarendale staff wasn't able to cover. Because my loved one wasn't receiving the care she needed in Clarendale's Assisted Living, they were very nice about allowing me to move her to their Independent Living floor so that the 24/7 nursing that I had hired for her could take better care of her needs. The apartment was lovely, but the physical features were not particularly friendly to the elderly residents. The showers were not the large walk-in types found in Assisted Living. There wasn't enough space in the shower to install a built-in stable shower seat and it was a huge challenge to get the wheelchair into the bathroom, bedroom, and closet. It just didn't seem like a space friendly to elderly. The dining room/kitchen staff was very slow and the menu only had a few healthy options (that's not to say I don't care for french fries, but some healthier choices would have been nice.)

Overall facility is nice. I think they have not invested as much in memory care as they have with the overall facility. I think there is a plan in place to upgrade memory care in terms of the looks and activities available, but at the moment it is the area that lacks the most. The staff is great. They know my mother well and they are patient with her. Makes me feel ok leaving her there.

Our family had an in person tour with The Oaks at Bartlett and with the tour experience they just did not have the same welcoming or accommodating feel as other communities did.

We picked this community because it was very close to our house and we visit 4-5 times per week. It looks really good from the outside as did the other place we looked at, but ultimately it was the location. We are satisfied,but clearly it is not what was advertised or presented. There is good intent by the company, but there is a worker shortage, that is adversely affecting the quality of the services provided.

We toured Richmond Place when searching for Independent Living for our loved one. This facility was okay. Our tour guide was very good. The atmosphere and cleanliness of the facility was good.

My expectations were not met. I was not given through information concerning the items my loved one would need for his stay. I assumed that the mattress would be protected because it is a place for elderly people. Even hotels are wise enough to protect matresses! I was not told he would need a hamper, so my son took my husband's clothes home to launder. He was never given a tour of the facility even though I asked and my husband asked twice. The lock on his door did not operate. Fortunately it did not cause a problem.

Change in management company has disrupted a lot of things. The facilities are great. Location is great as well. Communication between family, Bluestone physicians, LifeSpark and Havenwood nursing staff has been less than ideal. Also, very little outdoor space. No grass. Director has been very responsive.

[Name removed] at Freedom Square gave an impressive tour, but the community didn't seem warm and welcoming. Didn't see residents and staff interacting with each other, which can make a difference in visualizing a loved one residing there.

Maintenance was not willing to replace the thermostat in her room for over a week and it was 65 degrees there.

My main issue is with the lady that is head of nurses on the 4th floor. The rest of the staff are simply wonderful. Actives are either non existing or they didn't come remind her and/or take her to them.

My mother is there right now. I would not recommend. Her room is dingy. Its in bad need of rehab itself. Oh by the way the activites personell wanted to know how my mother voted, by mail, etc !!!! Absolutely NONE of their business

Our family had an in person tour with The Watermark at Bellingham, and they were undergoing constructions and given our loved ones mobility limitation's it was just not going to be ideal for her to move in

My mother loves it at Havenwood. She's really happy with her apartment. She's made some great friends and is really pleased with that. On the more negative side -- they're having a lot of staffing issues right now (which I know is common in a lot of places.). They'll be going through a new management company in April. Our hopes are that this new management can come in an change some of the staffing problems.
