We were very pleased with the level of excellence here in all aspects. It is a very nice community and I'd rate them highly across the board. It is a nice looking place, very well kept and clean, and the staff have all been very friendly and caring.

From the first phone call to Rosemary at Eastcastle until my mother moved in our experiences have been beyond our expectations. On our first tour we were both impressed by how clean everything was and how friendly and welcoming everyone was toward us. Since my mother moved in she has been so busy with all of the activities that she hasn't needed to venture out much at all. She and her cat absolutely love their apartment. The head nurse MaryLou was very informative when she did her initial evaluation of my mother at my home. She is highly educated on senior medical needs and put both of us at ease with my mothers' concerns on her medical issues. Both Rosemary and Marylou stopped by my mom's apartment within hours of her move-in and welcomed her. I cannot say enough good things about Eastcastle and all of their staff!! I would and do recommend it to everyone!!!

I think they do a great job here. It's a nice clean community, and the care they provide is excellent. The staff are friendly, professional, and qualified. They've got enough staff that residents get attention when they need it, which is nice when so many of these places seem understaffed.

Mom has lived here going on 3 years and has enjoyed every moment. She feels very safe and secure. The food is wonderful and the activities director, Amy, is everybody's favorite. She brought a bus load of residents to visit mom while in rehab to surprise her on her birthday! And Mark, the director, is so caring. Recently, I was in my mother's apt decorating her tree when in comes Mark with a bowl of soup and a cinnamon roll. He knew she had not been feeling well. And you will see him and other staff members walking resident's dogs!! Parkwood is not the fanciest place out there but this place stands out among all others as being the most caring. NOTE: Parkwood Healthcare (next door) provides private rooms at no additional charge to the residents here that are over there for rehab. And the rehab is fantastic, also.

We are very pleased with the facility. The food is the one issue, it was good initially but seems to have fallen off, the taste, as well as the food being cold and tough. The view from the rooms and the certified medical staffing, the closeness to activities, are some of the reasons we chose this community.

As the daughter of an octogenarian couple who recently moved here, I have had nothing but positive experiences with Heritage Pointe (HP), its management and support staff. The food is above average (an important factor for my father), the activities seem almost non-stop, everyone is friendly, helpful and accommodating. Here's something nobody told my brother and me during visits with doctors and a social worker: For the adult children of a parent considering HP or any other assisted living, it's important to know that a move should be made *before* the parent is diagnosed with dementia. Once that diagnosis is confirmed in medical records, a place like HP will require residency in the "Memory Care" facility. My parents moved "just in time," as my mother is essentially "pre-dementia." Otherwise, my father would have moved to an apartment at HP and my mother would have gone to a separate facility on the same campus.

When my mother told me she wanted to relocate to the Towson area to be near me I knew it was time to look for just the right place. I toured both independent living and assisted living communities in the area. In the end the best of the independent living apartments was at Blakehurst Retirement Community in Towson. It was newer than many and had larger apartments than any others I toured. Time passed and before we knew it my mother had been living there for almost 4 years before her death due to health issues. She never had any complaints about living at Blakehurst and enjoyed playing bridge and attending concerts there as well as walking around the beautiful grounds to check on the many blooming plants. The staff are pretty darn good people and were accommodating when requests were made. When my mother needed some extra help they cared for her like she was their own mother. This made life easier for my mother and my family.

Brand new and very expensive, but a very nice place. Moving out was kind of like she went from the Mercedes to the Volkswagen. She liked the fact that they had everything, a mini kitchen in her room and her own bathroom. For my mother this was a lot more accommodating.

We can't tell you how happy we are that we are here. We researched for a while and they had so much more to offer and were a little less expensive. We are thrilled and just love it! Food is very good! We can't encourage people enough to move here. We are sorry that we didn't do it earlier. We like everything! First, I don't feel like I'm living in a retirement place, it feels just living in a condo, or a hotel, because I don't have to cook or clean. They change linens and do the laundry. All you have to do is personal clothes. Everyone here from the help on up is so nice and friendly. We have met so many people. From 7:30 in the morning to 10 at night there is something to do. They have exercises and entertainment, and they go on trips. When our children come and visit they thing they are on a cruise! One was saying they felt like they were at Disneyland!

Not only is the property beautiful, but the staff is very friendly and helpful. Richmond Place has been very accommodating.

I am very impressed with Parkwood. The staff is friendly,helpful and really caring. The food is wonderful, the activities are well planned. My mother was sure she would hate her new home. She has come to really like it. It is not easy for anyone to give up their homes, but Parkwood becomes home and family.

I loved the apartments at Freedom Village. They are spacious and bright. They are in the middle of a big renovation project but still I had an instructive tour. This might be my first choice if it weren't farther than I want to be from my family in Newark, DE. There are several (5 I think) dining rooms that are smaller and more intimate than those in other CRCC's that I have seen.

My father was in the new wing and it was second to none. We could go in there anytime, we could go with my dog (he's well-mannered and trained) and they allowed it. The fact that I could just go at 12 o'clock at night, it was amazing and I loved that but just like every nursing home, they're all very understaffed. That's just them all tought, they're all understaffed and you, as a family member, if you have a job, if you have a life, it's bad because you've got to be up there to pick up the slack. One time I went there and my dad had two of these patches on and it says not to do that because you could die from that.

I have friends that are there now and I visit them at least once a month for dinner. It's Hyatt regency quality. Everyone complains about everything in every facility but when you get down to it you can't do any better than Casa De Las Campanas. That's a buy in and it's not for everyone because it costs several thousand dollars just to buy in. A friend of mine who is there complains that the trees are growing too high and she can't see the lake. If that's the worst thing that happens to you then you've got it pretty well wired. She's been there 20 years.

Know this facility well - have family living here.

My father is in independent living so there aren't a lot of services that he's getting. He gets meals once a day and housekeeping, I think once a month, and they're fine. They activities are oaky. I think the management team has been exceptionally patient with my dad when he had presented some challenges their way. I think he ended up in the best place for him.

This facility is a buy in. This would not be an option for my parents.

My husband and I visited Parkwood on behalf of his mother who was living in an apartment with no assistance. Since she could no longer drive and she was having some memory issues, we decided to look for a living option that would provide services for her, but still give her the feeling of the independent living that she likes. We loved everything about Parkwood. The residents and staff are so friendly. We particularly like the cafeteria style dining. There are plenty of organized activities. And best of all, my mother-in-law just loves her new home.

This is one of my top choices. I was very impressed with everything.

Most of the staff here is very friendly except for about one or two of them. They could have a little more flexibility with their activities. This is the best community we have found in the Birmingham area. Our loved one likes it here and actually wants to stay. They provide excellent care. It is a community that seems to lean toward independent residents but you can hire your own care if needed. The food is just excellent and the main dining area is top notch. Family members actually come and eat here. It seems like due to how nice it is it would be a more expensive then it really is only about $3,400 a month.
