This facility does not have back-up personnel for absent helpers. Management doe's not listen to constructive suggestions.

This is a very nice community and they really offer a lot of different amenities for their residents to take part in. The staff that did my tour did a really good job, they took their time, showed me all around and the answered all my question. The rooms were nice and I would definitely recommend scheduling an appt to check the community out.

The memory care area of this community did not seem as nice as the one at the community we chose. The people we met were friendly. The community seemed fairly clean. This community just did not feel like the right place for my loved one.

Very attractive. A bit pricey but the care is good. Outside family members should stay on top of them to make sure they follow through on meeting specific needs such as reminders to keep hair or doctor appointments.

The staff at this community have taken very good care of my mother. They are a little short staffed and I feel they could use more help. I really like that they try to get the residents involved in the activities. They definably get an A+ for effort. They also have things like family night dinners.

Everyone here seemed very nice and understanding. The community was nice and neat and was clean and no smells. The staff were very helpful. It just did not seem like the community that we wanted my mom in.

My mother and I enjoyed our tour of this community. The staff where very friendly and had lots of great information to give us about there facility. Everything seemed very well maintained and was kept nice and clean for all of the residents. They had a spacious common and dinning room area that seemed to fit everyone comfortably. My mom just did not like that this was a multilevel complex.

I purposely waited to write the review until some time to evaluate the facility to see how things leveled out after initially moving in. The apartment is great. Clean and fresh and comfortable. There should be some sort of orientation though as we have had to figure out the daily routines and schedules. Still after 2 weeks, we are not receiving many of the services promised in the brochure yet are included in the price point. To the tune of $600 additional monthly fees, many of the basics services are not being met let alone the plan details included in the additional fee. Mom is paying for daily assistance to bath, dress, and groom, yet she hasn't had a shower yet in over 2 weeks. Shampoo and toiletries stated to be provided have not made an appearance to date. We are still purchasing these items at the drug store. Trying to make an appointment to discuss this with them and I get absolutely no where. I am going to continue to pursue answers to many of my questions b/c if she isn't getting the care, we need to adjust the rate. The daily housekeeping is fine but they don't clean anything. I have been changing her sheets, cleaning her mirrors, etc. Mom asked them when the do clean the apartment, and they said it wasn't dirty, so she asked specifically to clean the toilet and they did. Once. So, I am waiting for an opportunity to speak with them. Hopefully soon.

Mom was in assisted living and now memory care. Staff who work with residents are awesome and so caring. Management is not visible and the new director, who has been there about 6 months (there is a revolving door of executive directors), is never seen in memory care. If the people who care for mom daily weren't so awesome I would have moved her out.

The staff does well at Grand Villa West considering the reputation they have to deal with from their East location. The staff seems to care about the residents, and from what I have heard, their office staff is much more qualified and experienced than Grand Villa East. I'm happy when I leave there most times. No complaints.

My parents moved into the independent living side a couple months ago, and so far we've been very pleased. The facilities are lovely and kept clean, but the most impressive part is the staff. Everyone I've met have been extremely kind friendly and patient, and my parents rave about how helpful they've been. They've also been impressed with the food, and this was one of the few facilities that offered 3 meals a day instead of 2. There have been a few glitches here and there, but the staff makes an effort to quickly resolve whatever issues arise.

We have lived here 3 weeks and the food is excellent. Our apartment is real small about 550 sq. ft. Waiting for a larger apartment to become vacant so we can move into it.

The staff all know my dad's by his first name. No complaints about the food. Room is kept very clean, and laundry done, and folded so neatly. My father has been so active, that he is never in his room.

My father moved in one week ago. Transitions are hard but I think this is a good choice for him. It is a little bit early to rate Fairwinds but, so far, I would say they are a great facility.

Looks like a lot of improvements are being made since the new company has taken over.

They only had double rooms available, and that wasn't going to work out for us.

My mom was in both the independent living and the assisted living, but we eventually moved her out and into another community. I convinced her to leave because I was not convinced that her service levels were being met at MacKenzie Place. She also spent almost all of her time in her room and didn't participate in any activities, something that she does much more of now.

WE are quite pleased with our villa. It was difficult to move from 2400 sq. ft. into 1500 sq. ft. but we managed. All the people we have met are very lovely which helped our move in many ways.our neighbors couldn't be nicer. I believe our only disappointment would be in the dining area. So many times they run out of things by 5:30m pm. Now who runs out of mashed potatoes or butter in the evening or grapefruit for breakfast? That's really bad planning.Whomever is responsible needs to be spoken to. For the cost of living here simple things in the dining room should be available until at least 6-6:30 pm if you are going to provide meals until 7pm. Another thing, your Christmas trim-a-tree program was a complete boor. No one got up to start some singing or provide gaity of any kind. Therefor the elderly people just sat and watched the ones decoraating the upper part of the tree. Why didn't they try to motivate everyone so there was laughter and gaity in the room? It was so sad I just left!

Their place is pretty clean, and everyone's pretty friendly. The other place that my cousin looked at she said that that place wasn't as clean as Fairwinds. Fairwinds apartments also seemed to be larger than the other community that we considered. They have a company called Aging Well that comes in to check on the residents - I use them to provide 24/7 care for my grandmother. The girls who come to check on my grandmother are great. There's also a nurse that comes in 2 times a week. I tried to tell the Aging Well staff certain things, like if you ask my grandmother if she's hungry, she'll say "No" but if you put a plate in front of her at mealtimes, she will eat, but they wouldn't follow my instructions. The most disappointing thing was that the Fairwinds said that they would try to get my grandmother acclimated and engaged with the community, but as soon as she moved in, it was more like, "Okay, here you are, see you".
