This was a small community and over priced.

This is a beautiful place. The pool is lovely and this helps my loved one with their balance. The community has a good location, and close to family. The staff are friendly and responsive to questions.

My experience has been very good. I like all of the staff I have met, the medical attention is great , and everyone has very patient with my Mom's opinions, demands and needs. My only reservation is that she is not happy with the food, partly because she got exactly what she wanted from her home caregivers. At this moment she is in the hospital being treated for a condition that was of concern to your nurses. And she is getting better. Handling of the Covid situation has been excellent.

Our tour at MacKenzie Place was great. The people were very nice. But our parents would have needed to move rooms when their service levels changed, and we were absolutely not interested in that.

She has a beautiful room with a patio. She gets to have her dog. There's a smoking area. She gets to have her tequila everyone once in a while The grounds are just beautiful. We watched the Bloom Fiesta from her back patio area the other day, and it was fabulous. One of the things I wish they had is a "mom chart" - so I could get a report on if they bathed her, cleaned her room, had pest control come in - just letting me know those little things, kind of like a doctor chart. But they're very protective of their residents. If there's any positive Covid tests, they lock it down. And everybody coming in to visit has to check in, whether they're on lockdown or not. The food is fabulous. It's fresh. For breakfast she gets things like sausages and eggs. Some days she's had shrimp for dinner. It's been really good. And she gets three meals a day. I would highly recommend it to anybody. It's been great for her to get out and meet all sorts of people. And Fairwinds has done a pretty good about trying to make sure everybody gets along.

I think the times are unique. So please color any comments with that knowledge. The strength of the Homestead is their staff. However there are staff transitions, and there have been issues related to a change in administration. And there is a long list of changes and improvements that have been promised. Communication is not a strength. I have an email into the director, and this is my third day waiting for a reply. However, my mother is happy. And there are many activities for those who like to participate. I think another strength is the residents. They are an amazing group of people. And I would like to see their knowledge and experiences recognized and celebrated.

I'm happy with the community; however, they have dropped following up with us on doctor visits. Everyone is very caring here. It can be hard to communicate with the medical staff with questions or concerns we have over my loved one.

Coming in, they welcoming they gave was pretty good. I would say that the bathrooms are too small, which is a problem for someone with a wheelchair or walker. I feel the dining room staff needs to be trained better. But I think you can make a good life here. My husband and I have acclimated to it. They've been very accommodating to us and to me personally, and we are each in different care levels. They also have a pool, which I use, and that's been very good for me. You have to strike a balance I imagine at every place you might go. But our apartment is very nice, a 2-bedroom 2-bath. It's in a very convenient location, and we're happy in it except for the bathrooms.

It was okay here. There was nothing wrong - I just didn't care for it, and I couldn't quite put my finger on the reason why. It just boiled down to a feeling. The room setup felt chaotic and wasn’t very calming. The residents' rooms were kind of intermixed all over with different common spaces. It was a smaller community than other places we looked at, but the layout was confusing.

The community is great. I would recommend you go look at the community and see if the staff and the community will work for your loved one. The staff have a passion for what they do and taking care of the residents with memory care needs it is a stand out to me.

The community still has some restrictions but we are able to go into our loved ones room and a common area and they are both clean. As far as the activities go, our loved one does not participate in them but they do offer them for those who do, just with limited numbers. The value for cost is right on par with other communities we looked at that offer the same amenities.

For me, it was a good transition, but I would not want to live there. I was there for a month to get better, and that was my goal. I didn't find it to be an invigorating place. The meals were alone and quiet. I thought the food was lacking. The menu planning was lacking, and it was not a healthy diet. The whole environment just didn't have a lot of life to it. And it didn't feel like that was Covid-related. It made me realize that I didn't want to be in an assisted living facility. The staff was very good and very nice. It just wasn't the right place for me.

I would tell others that the people are very nice here. The care is reasonably good. My loved one has been there for several years and the only complaint is the food. Other than the food, my loved one is happy here. Some of the activities they had prior to the pandemic: singers, clubs, movies, card games, bingo, and more for the residents to choose from.

It's heaven compared to the place my loved one came from. I would highly recommend it. It's a very nice community. They have private rooms. The building is a converted hotel, so it's very much like a hotel room. But they provide a mini fridge, and each resident has a private bathroom that is easily accessible for taking showers. And there's plenty of room to bring things in to make it homey and comfortable for the residents. For the most part, the staff have been very friendly and helpful. They do keep me updated on any changes in my loved one's medications. They've very good about those things. The food is okay, but my loved one would like to see less sandwiches. It's gotten a lot better since they've lifted restrictions now that everyone has their Covid shots and can go to the dining room again. But they do give her oranges if she asks for them. Any request she makes, if they have it, they'll provide it for her. If the residents are capable of taking care of a pet, they allow pets in the facility, which I think is amazing. I know that really brightens my mom's spirits seeing other people's dogs.

We chose Grand VIlla because it is not as big as some of the others, so residents get to know each other pretty well. The staff seems to care about the residents and try hard to be helpful. Also it was spotless. They have been very good with communication and keeping families up to date. I think others should know that the quality of the staff is very good. I would recommend to others looking.

Last year, literally days before the country shut down because of Covid-19, we moved Mom into the assisted living section of Grand Villa Dunedin. The facility was great in that they did everything they could to give the residents some semblance of a normal life in spite of the overwhelming effects of the pandemic on health and normal life. Unfortunately, like many people, the lockdown led to Mom having some health issues, mainly her balance and strength. The Care Team were amazing, helping her get physical therapy. They also bent backwards to ensure that whenever possible, she had access to socialization and activities that provided some movement. The entire staff at GV have been a godsend for Mom and we are so grateful that Mom has come through the pandemic whole and almost back to her old self.

It is a great community, and I feel comfortable having my loved one here. The convenience and safety of the community are standouts to me. I wouldn't change anything about the community.

The community is very friendly. They have a big community and nice areas to walk. My apt is nice and I like my view. Communication is good but they use fliers and a community board. but if you lose the flier you don't know what's going on. We are able to go to meetings and give suggestions. I would recommend this community to others The dining room is very nice also. They have several sizes of apts. your can chose from

They were very accommodating. They tried to work with my loved one as much as possible to make her comfortable, especially considering my loved one was resistant to being there. The nursing director and staff were very helpful . It's a new place, so it was really nice. It was very well done, and they provided a furnished apartment to stay in during the quarantine period when you first move in. It was hard to get a feel for the community as a whole since a lot of it was closed off due to Covid. Overall, it was very nice They really worked hard to make this the best experience, from the GM to everyone.
