My dad joined Legend of Hutchinson KS last year and it was a horrible experience. The nursing staff started off our experience by telling me to stay out of my dad’s medical business. I will always be an advocate for my parents. Nobody should tell someone to stay out of their business. My dad was on oxygen and ran out of oxygen at least 6x when he was taken down to dinner. His oxygen dropped down to the 50s!! Hospice was with my dad one day and they watched the staff come in to take him to dinner and they never checked his oxygen. When hospice asked the staff if they checked, they replied that my father was supposed to ask them each time he went to eat. In addition, we paid for the top level of care each month which was very expensive. I visited him every day. I found numerous pills on the floor and unused vials of nebulizer meds. Additionally, I can’t remember how many baths they forgot to give him. Thank goodness for hospice! He passed last week. No condolences!

We picked them because it was new and they talked it up well. I'm not sure if I would recommend to others. They have raised pricing before 1yr anniversary and things aren't being taken care of in a timely matter

We picked them because of the location and staff. Initially I would have recommended but for the past year they have really gone downhill and I have concerns keeping my parents there. Evidently a new company took over and it's been pretty bad. Just about all staff that were there left so they are using a lot of temporary people that are making dangerous mistakes with meds.

Not enough help; they try, but a 75%+ increase, yes...we started @ $[removed]/month & they increased to over $[removed] following Jan. Was ridiculous, care got worse, they wouldn't bath my mom 2x a week, lucky if she got 1, but we were paying for it.

Their customer service attitude is not very nice. Even if they made improvements we would not recommend this community to other families.

They used to have a very good chef before I moved here. Now the food is barely acceptable. There is never a balanced meal. If they do serve vegetables, they are so soft that there is no nutritional value to them. Supper is a sandwich every single night, either served with tater tots or cottage cheese. It’s more like a snack than a meal. The cooks don’t wear hair nets unless someone is here from corporate for a meeting. That’s also the day they put menus on the table… even though they do not serve what is on the menu. Staff talks (gossips) about residents within hearing of others. I would never recommend The Windsor. It’s like a prison, without square meals.

The staff are always changing. Definitely a revolving door over there. My mother was given the wrong meds, left unattended for hours after she rang for them. She was also given a suppository one time when she wasn't even constipated. I could go on about this. Most meals were liked by our mother. She did not participate in any activities. Finally, the care is not worth the money spent. I guess there are worse places, but that is not the point. Half the time the left doesn't know what the right is doing and I blame that on staffing. The manager was recently fired, which should have been done a long time ago! We asked for something as simple as a sliding door glide be fixed months ago as it is a safety hazard for my mother and it has not been fixed yet. Some employees do care and it shows, but for the most part, the place is like a circus although no clowns and it definitely isn't funny.

Great people and facility. Food quality went down after moving in. Could not get insurance straightened out. Had to hire a lawyer. Medication dispensation had to be monitored by family to get correct. For the money I would expect things to have run a lot smoother without so much family involvement. I would not recommend them unless the family wants to bird dog the care constantly. We have interviewed many others since moving them there and found they all have organizational issues and promises not kept to some degree. We did move them to the grove about a year ago and are having some issues there too. But will say the staff at both are great and very caring in nature. I think the problems stem from the corporate level that seem disconnected.

My dad and I enrolled my mom into Legend in May of 2024. Before she moved in, we asked lots of questions to be sure it would be a good fit for all parties. We were given assurances that my mom would have a 1:1 staff for the first week to help acclimate to the new setting and have plenty of activities to keep her busy. But it never happened. In fact, we were never contacted after the first week to see how things were going. Just be aware that even though the facility is modern and clean, the activities are limited due to lack of staffing. We even had one occasion where dinner wasn't served until my dad had to notify the front desk that the residents were still waiting in the dining room. Very often we'd visit and see residents wandering aimlessly with no staff around. Due to staffing concerns we moved my mom back home after a week. We simply didn't feel that she'd be safe at Legend. I'd write more, but the review must be under 1000 characters. Overall, a very disappointing experience.

I would not recommend to others.

Our elderly mother was evaluated in April while at a local rehab facility. She was suffering from several health serious issues. We were given the questionnaire in advance. We went through and filled it out and determined on a scale of 1-5, she was conservatively a 4. She was incapable of getting in and out of bed without assistance, had severe incontinence issues, and was cognitively challenged. When the Windsor nurse came to evaluate her, she labeled her a level 3. Mom was admitted to Windsor on [date removed]. On [date removed], the care team recommended hospice care which was initiated immediately. Vitas was called in, but Windsor supplemented them with staff for overnight and when they were not on site. The staff was terrific, but more than one of the staff said our mother should never have been admitted because they were not equipped to provide that level of care. Mom died on [date removed]. The staff was correct. She should have transferred to a nursing facility. Admitting her felt like a cash grab.

There were problems with staff the entire time he was there. Washington not impressed with Legend. Facility is fine. It's all about staff, which changes all the time. I was there two weeks ago and didn't recognize anyone. Best advice is that you are your relatives best advocate. Ask lots of questions and hold them to what they say they will do. The current staff may be wonderful, but during the time [name removed] was there a change in staff didn't help at all. We had to push constantly for his room to be cleaned. He "lost" clothes, watches, cds and DVDs while he was there.

My mom was previously a resident at Arbor House Reminisce and it was not a good experience. My mom was only there for 2 weeks and we took her out after she fell and ended up in the ER. The level of care was nothing like we had been promised. The 1 to 6 ratio was a lie and my mom lost 11 pounds in 14 days. We've been caring for her with private care ever since.

My husband & I moved here to get help for my 93-year old husband who suddenly was unable to walk because of long-term periphery neuropathy. He needed help during the night to go to the bathroom and needed assistance with bathing. Within two weeks, we discontinued pushing the "Help Pendant" because we would wait as long as 50 minutes and each new night person needed to be instructed on how to help. This wasn't conducive to getting back to sleep. I told my husband we should get a discount in our monthly payments, but he didn't want to "ruffle any feather"...I continued to help him each night. He later developed 30 lbs of fluid and congestive heart failure got worse. He was eventually on six diuretic medications and eventually needed to either get up every 1-2 hours in which we set an alarm and still soaked pads for the beds and bedding until he resorted to wearing "diapers" with double men's pads in the diaper. The dining room is TERRIBLE! It should be the highlight of Legend

The staff really was great. My parents are very difficult and hard to please. They were probably much younger than the average resident which did not help. It cost them a ton of money to move and then move right back. Total waste of time and money. The food was awful.

Prairie House in Broken Arrow does not have the staff available to provide level 4 care. Especially overnight. If your loved one needs help to get in and out of bed and in and out of the bathroom, expect them to wait a long time.

Don't go there. It was not what they promised. They told us what we wanted to hear and thought it would be different than the last place.

They could work better at integrating new residents. Probably not because they did not integrate my parents well and then asked me to take them home. They seem to need social workers or people with finesse in dealing with elderly. It's a shame because the place is beautiful and the first sales rep made it sound like they were good at meeting people where they are at but I see now that was a sales job. That said, it's not entirely on them. My parents aren't easy it turns out-- though they were never difficult people before.

The nurse at the time was very unpersonable. The management should have been more upfront about being short staffed ( and other things). When I got back from my trip I arranged with the management for him to move to Broomfield. The nurse in Broomfield was unprepared and annoyed. Nor was the room available that we had originally signed the contract for. Within the 1st week we had to go in for a meeting about his poor care...ie) he is diabetic and had strokes. At 11am he had not been gotten up yet. He was sitting on side of his bed in wet briefs with his breakfast unopened in the kitchen area out of reach. Another night had slept all night on a mattress had thrown up on. I was planning on bringing him home but he got a UTI infection and was sent to hospital then rehab. 2 other residents also went to hospital that same day. After that I brought him home no one followed up with me. It also took a long time and a few calls to get some necessary paperwork that I needed. The facility was beautiful and some of the staff were good but overall I felt the management cared more about their business than the residents. I also know other residents who had similar complaints about personal care. In their defense I understood the staffing issues were partly due to Covid. Should not have to worry about their loved ones care in an expensive facility. My husband has since passed away.
