The staff is very friendly and seem to take a genuine interest in the well being of the residents. The only slight negative review I would add is that there are many LPN's but not RN's. LPN's are fine, they are hard working and proficient, but it would be better to have RN's too.

Things are still new. So far I think that communication could be a little better. Some little things haven't been done, that we asked to be done. They don't always call right away, but there can be circumstances too. The food is wonderful. There are two sides, there is the more independent side and the memory care side.

It seemed quite good and everyone there was extremely helpful. Unfortunately, my mom developed pneumonia and only stayed there a week before she was admitted to the hospital, where she still is. I hope she'll be back to Meadow Lodge soon.

We toured several Emeritus locations while looking into options for Mom, and while this was not the one we selected it was a nice looking community. Everything looked good during our tour, but we ended up selecting another location based on accessibility for our family, and a great experience with the staff.

This was a nice looking community, and in a newer building. It had a friendly atmosphere, and good staff. It was smaller than what Dad was wanting, both in size and population, so we ended up going with another community, but this was our second choice.

Liked it a lot but like 2 other places better

My mom isn't here anymore, we moved her somewhere else which is a better location. We didn't really have any concerns with the cleanliness, the friendliness really depended, some were very nice, some were not, but for the most part they handled things very well. I think she did some physical activity type stuff and it wasn't through any fault of theirs, she just didn't really want to particiapte in activities. I was happy in general, it was for memory care and my mom, with help with her medications with dementia, got better and memory care just wasn't appropraite for her anymore. The food wasn't good but considering who was there they had to cook food a certain way for memory care patients. For the most part we were pretty pleased.

We enjoyed visiting with Debbie Petrone. Although, the smell lead me astray. Out of our NJ visits this came in second only because it had a Philly connection. Have to admit, we had to change the visitation around and Debbie was extremely accommodating. She also gave us an Emeritus location in MD.

Mother liked the music they have and the look of the residents. Clean place. Nice dining facility

Was very comfortable and pleased with the facility. This was an assisted-living facility that was not dementia/Alzheimer specific, although they do have a unit that is specific for dementia/Alzheimer residents. My daughter found this facility to be very convenient, clean, welcoming. Cost is same as other facilities - inclusive except for medications.

Like this place very much.

Enjoyed meeting several of the staff at Summerville. Director did not provide any pricing and have called to ask about this.

Nice facility, open and clean. Tour was excellent and will look at this again soon.

Clean, nice layout, not confusing. 3 nurses during the day, a lot of activities. Rooms decent size. Not many maried couples. Friday dr appts, good menu. Podiatrist visits monthly good for dad.

All the med techs are very supportive and the activity people coming make sure my mother participates which is important. She has since moved into memory care and seems to be thriving which is a pleasant surprise and extremely comforting.

The Residence at Shelburne Bay is on a smaller scale in size and our loved one is used to being an outdoorsmen and being able to walk around and "roam free" so unfortunately this community just did not work out for our loved one. We did think overall it was a good place and we thought the staff did as best as they could.

[Name removed], the person we met to help us look at he facility, was very accommodating to our schedule and to make sure we were comfortable. Then it seems once you are a member, there is less action from the office and you're switched more to nursing and direct care contacts. They now have a vacancy for the program director on that care unit, so I'm not sure how things will be going forward. When we call and ask a question though, we do get a direct answer. We still go in to visit often. Only after a few months were we able to do a care plan with them. So I think now that the care plan is in place, if there's proper staff training, the staff will know how to interact with my loved one better. I think overall, more training for the staff in how to deal with people with memory issues would be helpful. But in today's staffing environment, I know that's difficult. But if they had had more coaching for staff off the bat, my loved one might have felt more comfortable with his transition. I really do see some people there who truly do have compassion and care. And I've seen others who I feel will need to learn that. I don't know a lot about the food. It seems decent overall. But I do know that as far as the beverage options, they offer a choice between apple juice or cranberry juice, and we've been having to push for water to be offered. I would like to see more activities as well. But even saying all those things, I know and appreciate that my loved one is safe secure. He looks well and feels well, and some of the small things that annoy us I know we'll have to let go. The facility is clean and smells okay when you walk in. I know that's not the case everywhere. They work with us on any concerns we have, and that makes a big difference. And overall, I would recommend them to other families.

It is a lovely place, but I did not feel the warmth from the staff. The tour felt more like a sales pitch, it was too businessy.

This is a difficult thing to rate. My circumstances may not be yours. First off this place is pretty expensive and because of that I assumed it would have "better care". I moved my mom who is 94 from another facility that was good for younger people but my mom did not like it. For her food was extremely important and she is fussy. I chose the Residence because the food was supposed to be great, the people who were there have been there a long time indicating to me that they liked their jobs and were happy there, It is not to far away for me to come often. Well since she has been there the director has left and most important to me the person in charge of care has left. She was the deciding factor for me to bring her there. I'm not too impressed the way things are at the present. It's not a bad place but I was hoping for a little more for the money. Everyone's circumstance is different so I can not recommend it to anyone. It is one of the most difficult decisions to make and you can only hope for the best. Good luck.

My mom was moved in on a Friday and was rushed to hospital on Sunday, she fell in her room and put a nasty bump on her head it effected her left eye. So of the experience we had was short but sweet. But I can tell you that the people were very nice and friendly and welcoming. She ended up at [removed]. She needed more care and watch very closely after that fall so my brother and I made the decision to move her there. One thing we worried about was we prepaid for a month ahead and they gave my brother a little trouble of getting refund but the main branch reach out to my brother to discuss a refund with him. To make a long story short we did receive a refund of part of the payment. We were satisfied. I would recommend them to anyone. And a place for mom also was a great help to me. For advice and an ear.
