Staff and some residents are friendly. Others are clearly not. Typically of the world. We were told that there are ambassadors who would reach out and suggest they attend this or that. Not sure I've seen that. Quality of care - so far they have not needed assistance. The two times my Step mother has approached the head RN she has been helpful and followed up with my sister as caretaker. For my Dad. Staff - they have a great pre move in 3 or so hour meeting where we all had some time with all of the department heads. We received our keys (with wristlets for each of our parents and the 3 of us that are local). Bus Mgr: We haven't gone through a billing cycle yet, they have done puzzles and gone to movies. Attended at least one cocktail event. They are not used to having things so local to do. The menu is out of date "oh, we haven't had that in ages" they have "sold out" of the special so dinner has to be early, service is deathly slow as compared to a restaurant and the wait staff is kids. At a table of 4, they forgot one persons soup completely, and forgot my tartar sauce completely. Fried fish special on Friday. Maint Mgr: When they were moving in they requested simple modifications since there are 2 people in the unit. Also there were 2 repairs. They came to fix the two maintenance issues and after 2 weeks we modifications ourselves. Annoying because the sales person assured me that those things could be done easily by their staff. They are "entitled" to an hour of move in work such as that or hanging pictures and it was clear how we were to request it...a process that we followed to no avail. There is no guest parking. A huge hassle during the week when they are fully staffed. Though there are two in their apartment, the Residence was going to only allow one car. The reason why they are at the Residence is because we can't have them driving any more. In the moment they are fine drivers, though as 604 year residents of Bedford, they just don't always remember where they are going AND how to get there. Parking is still a problem for guests. The snow coming off the roofs is dangerous. The roofs dump towards the sidewalks and when it lets go it's a great whoosh. It had narrowly missed my step mother who was walking on the driveway side of the sidewalk. Had she been on the building side, it would have hit her. No safety considerations there cones etc. There had been a post broken off centered on the front door since November. Cones. There is a shuttle to local stores but the schedule is not clear. I did ride it with my step mom so she could see how it worked. Not sure if she has gone since. I've mentioned that Dad is a Navy Veteran. I don't think they have put his photo on the Veteran's wall yet. Food - Beyond the shortcoming in the menu and staff, the food is tasty. The portions are reasonable and it appears to be home cooked. Sometimes the titles are misleading. Lemon squares on the menu are actually lemon cake with pudding in it. Sometimes meals are served with veggies and some without. Two people ordered the pork dinner and that's how it came out. They do NOT serve alcohol in the dining room. Only during the cocktail hours. Supposedly 3 per week from 3-5. High tea 1 x per week 3-5. They have a bistro that has lighter lunch fair/pub food midday. Food is available in the dining room from 7 am to 6:40 pm (last order in) coffee/tea/water in main hall all the time via a Keurig. Activities - They have not participated in many. They are not crafty. The movies seem bland (not very interesting) Not much new and coming. They have done jigsaw puzzles and we added some new ones to the shared collection. They have walked on the rail trail behind the building, something they used to drive to do. Nice that it is close and familiar. Value for cost - At the moment that is hard to rate. They have a warm dry room, they are struggling to share a bath after 43 years of having their own, each of them are experiencing memory issues. They significantly downsized from a 6 bed 3 bath 6.5 years ago. Now they are down to 1 bed 1 bath and 1/2 a kitchen (no oven). They have had their cars/independence taken from them. They are in what we believe to be a safe place where care is a button away (around their necks). Additional info - The laundry room is large and clean. No iron, I'm assuming for elderly memory reasons. The soap dispenses directly into the machines with the press of a button. Everyone gets the same soap. No bottles to lug or tip. The fireplace room has a TV above and is a comfortable place to watch things like the Super Bowl with a group. They had an all day party with snacks, drinks and football themed games.

I like the friendliness of the staff and residents and the facility itself. We are having problems with him getting help he needs from the aides on a daily basis and being able to get a hold of the director and head nurse to discuss these issues.

The only complaint my mother had was the food, but she is very used to fine dining. The facility itself is very nice, clean, well maintained. Her apartment was bright and well furnished. The staff was always friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend it!

It's new so the facilities are well appointed, crisp. Also the other residents are very nice. As is the staff!!

I found it informative & helpful in answering many of my questions & concerns. I only had a virtual tour but hope to see it in person when I’m in the area.

What we like the most about the community is That it is small and feels like a community. Also, there is the availability of transportation to appointment through Valley Farm as well as the transit authority that will pick you up right there!

[name removed] was very thorough in her explanation of the services provided at the facility. She really seemed to enjoy working there & said her mother in law had lived there previously. Overall a nice place but on the higher end of similar sites.

They need to work on getting new residents acclimated and feeling at home. My dad joined the welcoming committee to help with that

The facility is beautiful, the tour really sells it nicely. Unfortunately the circumstances around my grandmas stay at the reserve weren’t as planned. Their care levels originally placed her at a level 5 meaning moderate assistance in the memory care, but a few days later they reevaluated her as a level 10 meaning maximum assistance and an increase in cost of $[removed]k without warning. Through minimal fault of the facility she declined and ended got up to a level 12 which is essentially hospice and cost $[removed]k per month. Some of the aides were very nice but at that cost I wish we would’ve gotten more assistance. Her room wasn’t clean, everything was strewn about, the clothes in her closet weren’t hers (and I meticulously labeled everything). Bottom line, if there’s any indication your loved one may need more than a level 2-3 of care it’s not the deal they market it as. And once they’re there they can increase the care level and charge you more at any time.

My father is very happy living at Great Woods. The food is excellent and he loves sitting out in the sun and reading his book. He hasn’t participated much in activities as he is still getting familiar with everything. Overall we have been very happy with Great Woods

It seems to be going well there. My parents are starting to participate care of some of the activities they have, such as game time and watching documentary films. Also getting to know some of the other residents too. One of the two elevators has been out of service their whole time, sometimes making it tedious to go up and down floors; but in theory work to be completed this week. They seem to like the food and dining set up too.

So far we are pleased with The Residence at Chadds Ford. Great staff, food is very good

Staff is friendly, helpful, competent. Management is inept, out of touch, unresponsive. My mother is happy there, I feel that she is safe. Pricing is very high.

Even in a difficult unit like the Memory Care unit my Dad is in, the staff are caring and very attentive to his needs

The staff is great but they are not great returning calls after you are moved in. Otherwise pretty good place.

The staff is very friendly and attentive to mom. The transition was relatively smooth.

To qualify ratings: admin turnover has been concerning, ranging from Exec Director to Financial Director to Head of Health/Nursing and Activities Director. The number and diversity of activities have decreased. To me this is the biggest issue. Unclear why staff turnover is occurring. Friendliness score high because of the everyday staff/aides who work very hard and are very amiable and attentive. My fear is that these folks working for an hourly wage don't get paid enough. LCD should consider these workers vital to the everyday success and smooth operations of The Residence. And continuity is likewise vital for the elderly residents. More senior communities are opening and trying to attract staff. It could be that some LCD people have been lured away by higher pay/better benefits.

The place is clean. Staff very helpful and friendly. Facility location perfect. Prices on average with other facilities.

I was at the residence and South Windsor farms for 2 or 3 months. The residence is very expensive though that is why I moved to the villages. The Residence - if I didn't have the experience with [name removed] and [name removed] which was a bad experience. I for am waiting for an answer from coporate. Depending on my answer from corporate I would say as far as everything else goes in the residence I would give them a four but regarding this problem I had I would give them a two and if they report nothing to me I would give them a minus five.
