The staff are very professional. They address you as Mr. / Mrs. The waiters serve you like it's a 5-star restaurant. But the staff have no personality. Nobody introduced themselves further or called me anything beyond Mr. [name removed]. There's no closeness, no feeling of "we love our patients." It was all professional and no personality. Any time I had a problem and went to the management team, they would quote manuals and regulations at me like I was a total stranger. My loved one came back from a rehab center with bed bugs, and apparently their policy indicated only three staff members need to be notified, yet everyone in the building knew. The front desk wouldn't even let me walk through the front lobby during the quarantine period to get the bedbugs taken care of. They made me feel very uncomfortable. The people who do the nursing however, [name removed] and [name removed] , are excellent. And the PT team are the nicest people, very educated, and truly care about what they're doing. But outside of that, it was a total nightmare. They gave me an ultimatum, told me I had 24 hours to stop staying there to care for my loved one. So I decided to give notice. And even though my loved one was only there for a very short time, they would not refund the very large facility fee.

Poor communication w/ family, understaffed, not well trained, unprofessional.

The room got flooded from plumbing issues within the first month how do you stay in another room no compensation for rent. The food has gone way downhill recently over 25 residents have complained nothing is being done please be aware because the family does now.Also screens on some windows would really be nice. Thank you I know everybody works hard short staffed and underpaid but these are our family that we are talking about

This is an okay community. The community allows pets. It would be better if they had more first floor rooms available, and the sound was quieter.

There's only one gate, but there are three driveway entrances. How is one gate going to increase safety? I have seen people from outside the community enter through each driveway entrance.

On the upside: Nice residents, beautiful building, beautiful courtyard, nice staff. On the downside: A bait and switch approach to pricing. My mom moved to assisted living several years ago, thinking she would be safe and cared for. It was expensive, but she had saved for it. However, within two years, even the basic services were cut, while the prices DOUBLED!!! She has to count every item of clothing and put it on a list in order to have the laundry done. The consequence is that they do almost no laundry for her. The brunch that we heard so much about was cut to every other week. Bathrooms are not renovated to be handicap accessible unless you pay for it. Twice we pushed her button for help and NO ONE CAME FOR 45 MINUTES. Residents who need help with socks or other minor things, end up just doing it themselves, because no one shows up for 30-40 minutes. But the worst part is that the cost for care is absolutely unpredictable and every little thing adds to a points system that even the managers have trouble explaining without a computer. My mom feels like she can't breathe differently without being charged for it. This was not what we were sold. Imagine planning for your future and having the costs double! It has put her in a state of anxiety and we are thinking of moving her again. Not what you want for your aging parent.

This place drives me crazy! At first they would walk in on mom in the bathroom, never knock! No Privacy! We are now paying an additional $500 a month because she now needs extra care. Our cousin goes to check on her, she is sitting in the dark, nothing on her feet, diapers and trash are sitting on the counter and it stinks in the room. She grabs someone to come and take the trash out. Mom is hungry and can no longer eat without help, she wanted a sandwich an hour later she still never received anything to eat she asked a second time and asked them to at least bring a yogurt and finally had to leave and she still had not received any food. Unfortunately we live in another state and can't monitor things ourselves, but when we call they say all is well. Would love to get her out of this place!!!!

First impressions can be deceiving. We had done the tours, due diligence and planned to bring our mom here. But it appears there is a lot of dissatisfaction within the staff and a management group that is constantly turning the staff. Over the past few months they have turned over at least 30-50% of the staff with a new director that seems disinterested in keeping educated, experienced staff in deference to less expensive caregivers. In speaking to some of the staff, there seems to be some who genuinely enjoy and care for the residents for whom they work. However, there also seems some infighting or jealousies that are problematic. Leaving an incontinent patient for the next shift to take care of instead of immediately taking care of the resident is an issue. The ownership group seems more interested in the bottom line than the memory care seniors. We decided to go elsewhere with mom.

While the common areas are beautiful, the experience of living at Balfour Riverfront never comes close to matching the appearance. Senior management attitude towards service seems to be: provide the minimum they can get away with, glad-hand the residents, and make promises they have no intention of following through on. Staff can occasionally be wonderful, but they never seem to last; turnover is very high leading to poor morale. It seems they treat the dining room (which is beautiful) as a cost center and seek to minimize their expenses, serving barely edible food with surprisingly bad service. Balfour Riverfront is a bit of a mystery, because so much potential is wasted. The common areas are stunning, but service is extremely frustrating, quality of the apartment finish is poor (especially carpeting), and the whole experience leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

The money you pay here is not worth it. There is not enough staff especially on the weekends. The food is about equivalent to a school cafeteria. Administrative staff is not very nice unless they are trying to hook your relative into living there.

I have a friend who lives here and the service in housekeeping and kitchen has gone down, food is burnt or not cooked properly, [Removed] will not talk about concerns, was told she didn't have time when approached her. Housekeeping is clean on the out , take a closer look, common areas, bathrooms are dirty, apartments are cleaned in about 5 min. blinds never cleaned, no dusting, asked to speak to supervisor Wilson, he avoids concerns and never returns phone calls, all we get is promises from him and the ED. At one time this place was number 1 but can't see that now

They are all about the money they can make. Promised us a different type of apartment but did not have when we arrived. They say ANYTHING TO GET YOUR DEPOSIT! We settled for a temporary style room. 6 months later they STILL didn't have our apartment type, When they finally did, they charged us $2500 to transfer! We finally moved out but they charged us 2 extra months rent after we left. They charge extra for every little thing. We paid for internet but our room was too far from the router to get service. They never fixed it! DISGUSTED WITH OVERALL EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Food is good. But 2 of us couldn't eat all meals each month for the excessive prices they charged for meal plans

Staff that helped you on a daily basis, house keeper, chief, car transporters, handyman, servers that part of the staff was great, entertainment director was good. But people who ran things were very unfriendly. Assistant director, associate director and marking people really kept there distant. I think the greatest downfall of Laposada is they have so few independent people living there. The majority of the people were assistant living but staying in independent living. I think if you are ready to just sit back and do very little just take it easy you will be fine there but if you want to continue to have an active life it is not the place for you. Just so boring with bingo and internet bowling the most exciting thing they do. I wanted to do more things with a more enthusiastic group of people.

[name removed] the Line Cook supervisor will never be a real chef, he's just in charge of line cooks who scoop food on a plate. This obese, infertile, man is a bully who would insult the Black female servers because he was racist. Hes bitter because his reproductive organs DONT WORK, so he had to adopt a child from overseas LOL! He picked up potato croquettes OFF THE FLORR and still served them to the residents. He wold also talk crap about how dirty the African (female) line cook was. What a bigoted slob! I hope that disgusting hog no longer works there anymore!

I am very disappointed with the Executive Director and how she handled my husbands passing, I was not notified at the time of his passing and had to find out about it on social media and his personal belongings were not secured and were cleared out of his room without my permission. Very disappointed with management at Balfour.

Please review First Colonial Inns violations online. My father stayed here and was grossly mistreated, misdiagosed, and getting his meds administered was a struggle every day. They are understaffed always and it’s mind boggling how they are able to continue operating. Don’t waste your money. Keep looking. First Colonial is beyond awful.

Not receiving the care that was promised. Getting my father out as soon as I can before wasting more money. No nursing help, medicines missed, they don't know where residents are and skip medicines, faabs broken, nurses with attitudes. No help with patient portal, computers always down, etc etc. Don't be fooled.

Our family had an in person tour experience with Cedarwood at Sandy, and based on the tour experience and we saw throughout the community we can say it was a terrible experience.

The facilities and staff are superb. But it is not a happy place to live. The experience of living @ Byron Park did not match the written description or conversations with the sales staff. The activities were pitched at residents with much less energy and ability than my mother. The companionship in the dining room was much more residents from assisted living than independent residents. The more active and independent residents were cliquish and exclusive. Any move is hard, but this one was excruciating. My mother has been miserable every day of her residence there. After a month there she decided to move. Byron Park was simply not tenable for her. I hear from staff that there are lots of residents moving out this month. I don't know what's up among the residents, but there is a mean vibe there. Other residents have complained to me about the snarky comments from others. The staff could do more to introduce the active residents to each other. I got the feeling my mom was on her own to integrate into the community. At sales visits we were told about "ambassadors". New residents paired with someone who share some interests to eat a few meals with and facilitate introductions to other residents. That didn't happen at all.
