I felt like this facility was dated and my loved one did not get the vibe that they were looking for.

We toured First Colonial Inn and it looked a lot like a nursing home which we did not like. They were going to be very expensive and seemed like they nickle and dime you for everything.

From our understanding and speaking with our loved one the food there is great, and activities have opened back up. We are having an ongoing issues and that is sometimes out loved ones room does not have sheets, blankets or pillow cases in their room. The bathroom will not have hand towels or even soap. When we bring this up to the care givers attention they seem to point the finger at someone else, so there is a level of responsibility that could be improved.

We toured this facility and the staff was over 40 min late. The community is 6 stories and a lot of the building seemed very cold and chili. The rooms are beautiful but it just didn't fit our needs

The care was inadequate for someone with severe dementia. The problem is they don't have a doctor on site, just one nurse who I believe isn't even an RN. This was just not a good fit for my loved one. It might be a good fit for others with less care needs. Basically all they know how to do when someone starts having a dementia-related outburst is call 911. They're not set up to deal with that. But they didn't really say that upfront. Had I known this, it would have saved everybody a lot of trouble. Intake was a problem too.

The staff is excellent. A good friend of mine and leader in charge called me to find out about this facility and told him we would get someone to him right away.[removed]

Lavender Farms is beautiful, it is a newer facility. The rooms are gorgeous. the apartments are great. It really is a stunning facility. The staff members are great, however the communication from the community itself to the families is awful, it is nonexistent. The broad communication is good, but when it comes to the specific care communication regarding your loved one, that is where it bad. This community claims it is an assisted living facility and good for memory care, but it is more on the line of independent living. When your loved one starts to need more care, that is where they fall off.

Starting price is outside of our budget and this facility is for more independent than what works for us.

Hallways were painted in depressing colors for us. Did not like the idea that assisted living tenants were not able to use the pool and many other facilities on site because they are for "independent" living tenants only. Not a good fit for our mom.

Balfour Independent Living at Riverfront Park in Denver is a mixed bag. When you walk into Balfour, your breath is taken away by the exquisitely designed common areas. The five star decor is beautiful and elegant, but also bright and welcoming. The apartments, unfortunately, are nothing to rave about, but every inch of the common areas from the main living room to the dining room to the library, and even the salon, are pure delight. The three star service, on the other hand, is unpredictable. The members of the upper management team are disconnected to the residents and to each other. They don’t know what they are doing because the turn over rate is off the charts so they are always new (or absent because their positions have not yet been filled). Communication amongst the different teams and with the the residents is lacking. The right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing leading to inefficiency, chaos, and levels of incompetence that are just down right unacceptable in a place such as Balfour that is intended to be of such high caliber. Non management members, however, are wonderful, accommodating, and compassionate and the best part of what Balfour has to offer and in some ways make up for what the upper management team is incapable of accomplishing. Unfortunately and sadly, their turn over rate is also very high. It appears that Balfour has not figured out how to show appreciation for their Riverfront employees enough to keep them happy. With a turn over of four chefs in less than a two year period, the The Dining Room Service and Food Quality is less than mediocre and has been a disaster. For a facility that sells itself as a five star community and charges exorbitant fees to match the five star promise, their residents deserve better than three star service. With all of that being said, Balfour is centrally located, and if you or your parents are culturally oriented then you cannot beat the downtown location. The best part about Balfour are the residents and the camaraderie they share. Sure, you could rent a beautiful unit in a full service apartment building for half the cost but you wouldn’t find the friendships, support, and companionships that you find amongst the Balfour residents. For that reason, Balfour is worth a shot. Just understand that the service isn’t as pretty as the decor and be prepared for a lot of frustrations and disappointments along the way.

This place does not have continuing care, so you can't stay there as your care needs rise.

My grandma has stayed with magnolia Glen for 8 years and enjoyed it. The place is always clean and well maintained. Unfortunately her health has recently begin to decline and she's had to move into the assisted living area of Magnolia Glen. Firstly, she had to hire movers to move her bed and furniture to another floor. No help offered. Secondly, and most infuriating, she has not felt well enough to go to the dining room. Its a lot of work for her mobility speaking and her breathing is labored. I tell you the God's honest truth, her room is down the hall from the dining room, maybe 40 feet. Magnolia Glen said they'd have to charge additional to bring her meal to her room. This is assisted living and she pays 7 thousand dollars a month to be there. Mind you she's paid that for 8 years. You do the math. Not too far from a million. I find this to be criminal. The woman is towards the end of her life and the lack of care is appauling in my opinion. I'm her youngest grandson and trust me, I'd like to raise hell. My wife and family are in various healthcare positions, and I'm told this is par for the course at most facilities. Disgusts me. Wake up America.

This is a beautiful facility and everyone was friendly. It is for people who have money and want to live like royalty in independent living. There is a food allowance, but it is very expensive to eat there. You might be fearful of eating wondering if your allowance would last the month. I also had the feeling that management might suggest assisted living before other facilities did. This may be unfair, but I have visited this place twice in two years and the concern continues.

My loved one really likes this place. She is very happy with the area it's close to things that are important to her. The dining room is beautiful and meals are pretty good too! The activities calendar is always full! There is always something going on every day! You get to pick and choose what you would like to participate in. the staff is wonderful and easy to talk to. I would recommend this community to anyone looking.

My mother is doing well since her move and she seems to be adjusting well. Everyone that lives there seems very happy and the personnel is wonderful. In my opinion, the bathrooms are just too small. My mother chose the facility and now she is starting to notice that it is a problem. The bathtub is very small and I would not recommend this place to anyone who's loved one needs a large bathroom. Also, there are some things on the checklist that they said they would do that they still have not. Other than that, everyone is very nice and my mother seems pretty happy so far.

I really liked this place. My husband and I took the tour withTom. Our interest was with the memory care community but the follow up was very poor. Just before leaving I asked Tom to have Amanda/Sales Coordinator, to give me a call so we could speak more about our situation. She never called back.. I called back after four/five weeks and at that phone call she said, she was just about to call me. Not sure that is the best way to do business but it's a new place and they were still in process of getting set up. My situation has changed so I no longer need their services for now. I think if ever the Ned comes up again for respite care I would like to make another appointment for a tour and see if anything has improved.

They've got a really friendly staff that has been there a long time. I think their admin executive staff could be more friendly and in touch with the families.

The director was a little pushy. She kind of implied bad things about MBK that owns The Wellington, which I wasn't impressed with. It was an older building and we saw it last so maybe we were a little burnt out. You know, after a while you see so many places that you just say "no more!" It just was older and not impressive to us.

Walked in and canceled tour. Did not feel like it was going to meet interests and had other great options already.
