Jaybird Senior Living

We picked this community because, it was closer to other relatives, and more convient. My loved one likes to particpitate in Bingo. They sometimes like the food. The staff is friendly. The only issues is with calling, and not always getting a call back or receiving responses from management in a timely manne. My loved one is not always getting showers on time and the sheets are not being changed on regular basis.

Overall it has been a good experience. It has taken my loved one a long time to adjust, and she's still working on that. But mostly it has been positive. She's meeting new people and getting out a little bit more, which has been wonderful for her. The apartment is nice. It has great light, and it's fairly quiet. And she likes that she gets to control her own thermostat.

Our tour at Garnett Place was very nice. They gave us goodies, including a spice rub they make themselves and use on their food. We thought the rooms were fine. We just did not like the dining facility. It was kind of a mess/confusing to get to it.

Overall the cleanliness of the community and our loved ones apartment most of the time is good, sometimes our loved ones bathroom could use a little more upkeep. We are very happy with the quality of care our loved one is receiving. The meals and dining service has been a nice experience they are very accommodating. If our loved one does not want to eat in the dining hall they will bring up her food with no issues. They also have really nice activities going on.

Overall it has been pretty good experience so far. Only issues we have had is with the food and activities. On the food, the menu items are unusual sometimes and it is just not that great. They have not been able to keep an activities director since my loved one has moved in here and it has been very inconsistent as well.

You have to be there constantly for your person and be their advocate. You have to make sure they're not getting shoved to the side and that their rights are being upheld. It's all great when they give you the glowing buildup of touring and moving in, but the day-to-day experience is different. There are definitely some things that I don't like, but this is by far the best facility we looked at. That being said, it's expensive, and I'm doing a lot of their work for them. I'm being charged for things they're not providing, so be watchful with billing. I just have to keep on them about everything. My loved one does not like it there, but she needs to be for her own safety.

There was no nurse on staff and they weren't able to assist my loved one with their medical needs.

We almost went with Willows Landing. The facility was very nice and the staff seemed good. The only drawback about it was the room sizes, they were very small. If the rooms would have been bigger, we probably would have gone with them.

Our family had an in person tour and it was a really nice experience but the community was just a little more larger then what we were wanting for our loved one. It is a lovely facility but just did not feel like home for our loved one.

I think Milestone is very good. So far I'm happy with my loved one being there. It's a friendly and clean place. I think the staff are good with the patients. And the patients are mostly acute and on the same functioning level, aside from a few here and there, which is good for my loved one socially.

Really the only issue is that the food is really bad. It's like glop, and they don't serve a lot of fruits or vegetables. The portions are tiny, and nobody really seems to care. Otherwise it's a great place. Physically it's really nice. It's clean. They do the laundry, and they really do take care of their residents. The staff is very responsive to needs. But the food is just not up to par.

Prairie Meadows is a small and very friendly community with staff that obviously care very much for the residents there. communication is on an as needed basis and is done through phone call(s) and text messages. they are adequately staffed for the amount of residents they have and they allow pets. they have daily activities which include things like movies in the theatre room, arts and crafts, a garden club, a daily exercise program, bingo, a library, and puzzles, just to name a few. they do offer transportation, but I believe it is mainly used to take the residents grocery shopping. overall, I would recommend this community to others.

The community is very welcoming. The marketing person makes you feel welcomed into the community and willing to bend over backwards to assist the family in moving their loved one in. The staff are very accommodating to the families and residents. They are willing to talk best practices for our loved ones, and willing to work to find the best solution for my loved one. Medication management, dressing, hygiene and bathing assistance are some of the care they are providing my loved one. The room, vacuuming of the room, laundry, all three meals, and transportation is all included for the monthly fee. There maybe additional fees that a family may have to pay. They have van rides weekly, bingo, drumming, games, movies, outside entertainment groups, and more are some of the activities for the residents to participate in. There is an enclosed patio area that the resident can go with a staff member to enjoy their time outside. The food is really good, and my loved one thinks they fed them all the time. My loved one is able to ask for food or snack in the middle of the night or when they become hungry. Snacks are offered in the common area that the residents can easily access them.

We really liked Artis Senior Living. Our decision just came down to proximity to our family.

This was a good community it was just smaller than other places. I felt like it looked more like a nursing home and my loved one would not like being here as much. It would have been harder transition. The community had a great tour with a lot of information.

We chose The Retreat at Sunriver due to the location, it was close to where she lived and I figured her friends would visit her more often. We were not part of memory care side, but the girl who oversees them was just excellent, I cannot say enough about her. She was very empathic and sweet. I would recommend them to others.

Sometimes they have activities and sometimes they don't that is a little inconsistent. The value for cost is fair.
