A nice place but.....

I food is hit and miss, they seem to have a lot of dining room issues. Meat is overcooked and hard to chew. On holidays they have buffet dining in one sitting, it is hard for someone with a walker to manage that. The apartments are a good size. The bathroom is set up well for walkers. They have good size walk-in closets. They have a nice patio area for residents to use. They have good-sized laundry rooms.

Bad vibes from the start. I scheduled an appointment, but they didn't know about it. The person I was scheduled to meet wasn't even there. I met with the Activity Director and she was wonderful. The facility is very nice. The apartment I looked it would be suitable for my mom. If my mom goes there I'll have to hope and pray the staff steps us and proves themselves over their initial stumble.

I found it hard to find my way around. The layout of the community was a bit confusing. My daughter is intellectually challenged and this may be a problem for her if she wanted to leave the apartment alone. I did not like the meal arrangements at all. Only one free meal and pay for lunch and/or dinner. Dining room not open for dinner. Had to pay your own electricity, but cable TV offer good. The apartment I toured was satisfactory and I liked that there were some wood floors. The patio was too small and closed in. Wasn't sure about parking fees or locations. Not enough amenities for us and I'm dropping it from my list.

Staff is very misleading

My parents, unfortunately, had to vacate their home due to flooding. We looked at another community and this one was our best option. I am little disappointed with this community. The leasing agent was very misleading when it came to a few things. The first one was the rent. The rent is very high and my parents are trying to pay it on a minimal income. The lady gave us someone to talk to about VA Assistance and that they would qualify for it. My parents got approved but come to find out that we can’t use any of that money on rent. So now they are stuck in this lease, unfortunately. The other thing was we were lead to believe that the facility would be able to take my dad to his appointments that he has to go to. We even asked to move the appointments around to best suit the needs of the facility. Then we found out that the bus only runs at certain times and only a few days a week. There was just a big misrepresentation on their part. But, they are working with us to fix these issues. For the food, they do offer a continental breakfast Monday thru Friday. If you want the full meal plan you do have to pay extra. The grounds are clean and picked up. The one thing that I really like is they are pet-friendly so my parents could bring their dog along. Their apartment is nice, spacious and has a full kitchen. I would recommend this facility but to have precautions. You need to ask very specific questions so you understand everything.

Definitely needs work

Before my mom settled in with the Isle at Cedar Ridge, we checked out at least a dozen other communities. For the price, you get a nicely sized room. However, the response time of the aids is horrendous. For about 5 days, they were without a call system so no one was able to call for an aid if they needed to, and my mom has to have help doing personal things, so it makes it difficult to really get anything done. They have a high turnover rate for their nurses as well. The day we moved my mom in, there was a head nurse that, 2 weeks later, was gone and replaced with someone new. The food isn’t bad but it’s very salty and since my mom has been there, her feet have been swelling. I talked with the director about it and they said they serve only low-sodium foods but the proof shows otherwise. They have things like music programs to keep everyone busy and the activities director is very nice and easy to talk with. Housekeeping is amazing, the laundry is done at least 3 times a week and everything is always really clean. Overall, this isn’t a horrible facility. If they could just get some things fixed, like the response time, this place would be great.

So far it has been a pretty good experience for me with my move to this community. I really enjoy the staff, but I do have some concerns. I have made some nice new friends. This is a pretty new community, so they are still working out some things. It is a community I would recommend, but with some caution.

The facility is nice but I think opened prematurely. Mother was the 1st tenant to move into a villa. It was not cleaned properly. Office staff is friendly but seem very unorganized. Hopefully in time things will be better. Security gate is NOT yet activated & she has lived there a month. Her security is a concern. We were told a Security Guard is on duty 24/7 & did see one driving around in a golf cart during the day. The grounds are maintained nicely.

Great Place...No Call Returns

The property is simply beautiful, however I do not get a warm and fuzzy feeling from the staff. The young man who gave me the tour was wonderful and returned calls. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for the rest of the staff, activity director included. You get the feeling they do not want to be bothered. I am sure it is a great place to live.

Review of Raider Ranch - Lubbock, TX

When I toured the facility, I was told my electricity would be paid - then four years later, they started charging for electricity for everyone. Members that were told at time they moved in they should have been grandfathered - just let new residents pay electricity and be told about adding electricity to the bill. Transportation was promised people when they move in - with over 300 people in complex -2 buses does not meet the demands for people going to doctors, shopping and events in town with 2 buses carrying 12 people each time - wait period is too long waiting on bus for them to be picked up and have people on time for appointments.

Very nice staff, but still a lot to improve on

I think The Landing is a very nice place, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone else who is looking. That being said, it is a newer facility and they are obviously still working things out in terms of coordination and care. The staff are all very good, and very nice to the residents, I've never heard a cross word from anyone. However, I've had problems with their communication and consistency of care. The communication between the shifts and the different types of care staff just doesn't seem to be there, if you have any special requests or instructions you have to re-tell them to each person who works with your loved one. Requests that I have made very clear still aren't carried out very consistently, I requested more daily bathing and shaving assistance for my loved one, but sometimes when I visit it's obvious that it has been a few days. They are a new facility, and I know they are working hard on improving themselves, and I have high hopes for them for the future.

Overpriced

This place seemed overrated and overpriced. They were a nice enough place but they charged for every little thing, and it did not seem like you were getting much extra for the much higher price. It was also too big to be an option for my loved one, there's just too much space between everything.

Nothing that really impressed

They were an ok community while we were here. When we were here there was only one manager and we could never seem to find him. There always seemed to be issues during meal times with people not getting the right meal and where they were sitting. Transportation that they provided was also an issue. The community was really clean and very well maintained but nothing that made you want to stay.
