Don't care for the residents like they used to

It was good when she first moved in, she was there for about four years, but towards the end mostly it was inattention. The room wasn't being kept clean, she wasn't being attended to, they weren't making sure she was clean, it just goes on and on and on. We talked to them and they said they were working on it and things were going to get better but they didn't. They had several changes in management companies. I think they were understaffed. They said they were assisted living but they really wanted people that were more independent.

great staff but overall living experience is lacking

The staff is great and the move-in process was awesome. The food choices are not good and the meals are overpriced in comparison to what they serve. Having lunch everyday but no dinner is a giant roadblock to the socialization of the residents. My mom says that almost no one comes down for lunch because it is overpriced and is served almost immediately after breakfast. The breakfast hours are not long enough--they stop serving too early for residents who take longer in the morning to get ready for the day. The safety of the residents is less--there is no staff available after hours, there are no medical safety buttons in the apartments and if you fall or need help there is no staff available. They need to offer medical guardian devices to their residents. The apartment is good, but we are on the toll road side of the building and the road noise makes it impossible to use the deck and you can hear the noise behind the closed doors and windows. You should get a lower rent if you are on that side of the building. My mom finds this apartment complex very isolating and lonely. It is hard to meet people and make friends because the dinner hour is such a social event for residents and they don't have that here. The in-house rehab contract they have with select rehab is great, my mom is using them for both OT and PT and it is a blessing that she can do it onsite and not have to travel.

Room For Improvement

Cleaning needs to be improved. Assisted care was not consisted. Many times they did not come do the daily task helping my mother get dressed. They also failed to call me on several occasions when my mother fell. The food was often cold and many times when you ordered you would wait over an hour. And you may not get what you ordered. Repairs were never made when requested at move in. The director was extremely pushy for us to get my mom moved out early.

Outside rooms were cleaned but 1 time a week isn't always done well staff there are very friendly and go above n beyond they didn't really provide much care other than meds and bringing food which they charge for the poor handling of signing my father in made it illegal that he was there in the 1st place. He couldn't afford the stay and they nvr downgraded his room like they said initially and when he left they came after me for the bill he left. I did not have a POA which is another ball they dropped. same food routinely looked like activities were readily available. for 5k a month you would expect more catering and higher class of quality

Promises made promises broken.

Like most places shiny and new it was by all accounts a beautiful place. Unfortunately, after 8 months this place has gone downhill. We put our trust and faith that this was the place for our parents. With a new director, her goal is Budget, NOT quality of care and it shows. If you have your loved one here, I suggest you be aware of changes, ask questions, follow your instincts and demand answers. Install video surveillance for peace of mind. Expect the best of care because we were promised above average care and now with people quitting, getting fired, the quality of care has suffered. Greatly disappointed, sad, angry and feel responsible that we have let our family down. There are still some good, kind caregivers, but like others they will eventually leave due to managements lack of support and take it or leave it attitude. The physical therapy staff are WONDERFUL and very good to the residents. Sorry I don't have much positive to offer. Just be as proactive as you can.

Some good -some bad

My mother is a resident at Watermere in Frisco. The location, residents and amenities are great. Unfortunately, the staff is not friendly or helpful, with the exception of [name removed], the sales person who helped us lease an apartment. The front desk/concierge, [name removed], is lacking customer service skills and is quite rude. I was surprised they would have her as their main point of contact to their residents. Also, they nickel and dime quite a bit and repeatedly ask residents to give money during the holidays for the employees… Which is shared amongst all the employees, including management- which is odd. My mom felt obligated to give money, even though she is on a fixed income, and they just raised their rental quite a bit.

I would not recommend it if they are a higher level of need

The community itself is decently clean, but the individual house keeping for the residents apartments need improvement. They could also improve on their extended care, we just felt our loved one and other residents there were ignored. We felt they had a serious lack attention and awareness.

Don't come here if there's any other place to go.

They talk a very good game, but they don't have any action. They say they're going to do all these things for you, but nothing ever gets done. I don't care for the food. If you like sandwiches, I guess it's okay. I feel the value is horrible. They charge you for everything. They even charge you to send your reports in to the insurance company. The only good thing about it is they'll put your haircuts on your bill for you.

Proceed with caution

The facility is very beautiful and when we first started they were very nice. When we moved in that changed. The caregivers were rude and would avoid things like helping with showers when my mom couldn't do it by herself. When we asked they said they didn't have time and were too short-staffed. They would not follow through with the care we were paying for. The nursing staff was also very rude and was not nice. The director was not open to my feedback and was very defensive. I would not recommend this community to others. Their social media pages did not represent what our actual experience was.

If you visit the Town Village website, be aware that many of the pictures and statements are designed to impress you and are misleading. For example, the fountain shown on the cover page is beautiful, but it hasn't worked in months. The comfortable chairs shown in the theatre room aren't the actual ones used, but were ones put there for the photo. The picture of the couple dancing would lead you to believe this is a common activity, when it isn't. Dancing is during the monthly celebration of birthdays, and I have only seen one couple engage in this. Town Village has no swimming pool, so I don't know where the scene of seniors doing pool exercise came from. If you are fond of bingo, you are in luck. Statements on the website are also deceptive, although the brag about the energy-saving appliances is true. Several of the washers don't work, forcing residents into taking long treks down halls, hunting one that does. The dining room has many problems, although hopefully some of these will be resolved, since a new director has recently been hired. The most prevalent problem is the turnover in dining room staff. Many times weekend staff doesn't call or come in, with residents waiting long periods to get their food. About the time a server is trained, he or she is fired or quits. I especially liked the comment about residents being able to get food "free of specific ingredients". A table mate who couldn't eat gluten finally started eating most of her meals in her room when, even after several attempts, she was unable to get food she could digest. Many times, the kitchen is out of popular food items, such as vanilla ice cream, cottage cheese or orange sherbet. The breakfast line many times runs out of fresh fruit, such as strawberries or blueberries. Chicken and pasta are served at nearly every meal--probably because they are cheaper. As to the dining room serving the "meals you love", you are lucky to get the meal you ordered. The meals are fairly good, but get tiresome after the menus are repeated month after month. In the business/library room, the internet has been down for several weeks. In the three plus months I lived there, I was unaware of any walking trail. One person in a review bragged about the good security. Many times, the gate to the parking area is stuck open. The building is large and confusing to navigate. Not all the elevators go to the third floor. If you get in the low rent district on the third floor, expect a long hike to the dining room. If you want a true picture of what life at Town Village is like, ask a resident--out of earshot of an administrator. The executive director, [name removed] , makes a good first impression, but does not wear well with age. If she makes any promises, get them in writing or record them. [Name removed] , the AL nursing director, is also better with promises than delivery. I hope you find this helpful. I tried to be as accurate and non-biased as I could.

Watermere Realities

As a long time resident, the place is over priced, over sold and poorly operated. It continues to have problems with the overall building quality (replaced the entire roof in the last three months), have constant elevator operational problems and external door problems. It also continues to not be responsive in completing repair service requests. In a recent building lightning strike scenario, Watermere took too long to get the inside areas (fire door, elevators, etc) back and operational. does not support the basic features offered. It is perceived that management and many of the staff do not follow the standard 'Know Your Customers'! Yes, the tours and promotional events make it 'look good', but once settled in, many residents have 'An Awakening' as to reality.

Beautiful place; terrible food

It is a lovely place and the apartment my in laws have is very roomy and comfortable. However, there is an issue with quality and quantity of food. Our initial visit in April 2017, the food was considerably good. However, now the food is just not acceptable and several residents have moved because the food is so bad. One morning they even ran out of eggs. Although all the residents complain, they don’t seem interested in addressing the problem. I have offered to find another place to move my in laws; however, since we just moved them this June 2017, they were not interested in relocating. Six more months and if the food hasn’t improved, we will have to move them.

Where's the money going.

Visited relative and found almost every coffee cup in the the place were dirty. I saw th residents having dry toast. I asked no butter. I was told the butter was taken away and replaced by a foul tasting larger one. When the residents complained they got nothing. I visited a couple of years ago and they had a great menu. Now it is extremely limited with few choices.

The community has deteriorated

This community has declined within the last couple of years. The food is horrible and they are short staffed. The charges for any extras are expensive. There has been some turnover in management and they are not very open to hearing any concerns.

I had a nice tour of this community and the staff where very friendly with lots of great information. The property was well maintained and everything looked clean. i just did not see anything going on and nobody was doing anything. There was also no courtyard attached to the building. It was just not the right fit for me in the end decision.

I toured this community for the care for my husband. I did not like that the community was dark and seemed depressing. The other residents did not seem happy and they were not happy. They did not have a friendly atmosphere. The rooms were very small. This is a beautiful community, but just not what we wanted.
