Disappointed

Our family had a very disappointing experience with this facility. During my father’s stay, I found him more than once lying in bed in urine around midday, which raised serious concerns about the quality of care. When behavioral issues arose, we were told the facility did not specialize in dementia medications and needed to be referred out. The food was poor, personal belongings were lost, and communication became increasingly difficult after admission. Although activities were advertised, I never observed any taking place. I did have positive interactions with the Director of Nursing, who was kind and professional. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this facility.

Our experience

I can tell you my mom likes the facility but the food situation is terrible she has to supplement her food with Walmart items, she said some of it isn't edible, I don't understand as expensive as care is why they can fix decent meals. I would give it a 5 if not for the food problem but would have to say 2.5 due to the food situation.

Milford Place Experience

They promised care that my husband didn't receive. They were sending my husband to the ER frequently because of his behavior due to the fact that they never got his medications correct. He became aggressive and Milford sent him to Meadowood for two weeks telling me that they would get his medications corrected. Meadowood changedIt was two weeks before they got the doctor in to evaluate my husband's meds and they never got them right until hospice came in and took over my husbands care. The delivery of his meds were usually not on time. They only had two aides on the entire floor and I was told that someone would be checking the memory care floor patients constantly, but they would go much longer periods of time without checking on them. The evening The weekday nurse was not helpful when I'd ask questions. She couldn't tell me when my husband's got his medications. I was told by a staff member that the regular care floor was attended to first and then the memory care had to wait for their meds until after the regular floor had theirs. This would cause as much as a two hour delay in my husband getting his dementia meds and then he would be agitated. This was also true of cleaning the rooms. The regular floor had to have their rooms cleaned first and then if time ran out, the memory care didn't get cleaned. This staff member said that the regular care would complain so everything needed to be done just right for the regular patients. This facility was not suited to dementia patients. It is suited to people who are very docile. There was a lot of patient thefts. Patients would wander into rooms and if no one was there they would steal things. My husband's iPhone was stolen, his bed blanket was taken time and time again, his remote to his TV was taken. When they washed clothes they never returned them to the right patient. I oils hand the clothes back that weren't his, but never recovered his clothes. The patients wandered around because there was no supervision. There was no real recreation for the patients. They just sat around and sometimes played these silly games but didn't get any time to move to help their strength. The food was marginal. I would never recommend their Memory Care unit. The patients just existed. My husband was only there two months and once hospice became involved, I took brought him home. He died two days later, partially because of inadequate care at the facility. I paid about $[removed] a month for care at Milford and within a month they said I had to have round the clock care for my husband because the two weeks at Meadowood did nothing to help my husband. So I ended up spending an additional $[removed] for private care at Milford in addition to the almost $[removed] I paid Milford monthly.

if your loved one has dementia, they should keep looking around. Was not a safe place for my family member as he was pushed over by another patient and others continued to wonder into his room. The staff sit at the end of the hall on their phones. Would be nice if they checked in on the residents more often.

Sight unseen

The facility has been very disappointing. The food is inedible. I do not attend the activities because the quarters are much too close and no one wears masks and they are coughing all over each other. Also, the activities are almost always geared towards "Christian" ideals without any regard for any other religions or cultures. I do like my individual unit so I stay in it unless I need to go to the doctors or the hospital. The washers/dryers are very old school and don't work very well. The hallways are not often very clean. The elevators have been recently remodeled however they don't keep up with their care. The outside of the building, including the windows, is very dirty. I have no idea when it was last cleaned. Some of the employees here are quite nice and helpful but others not so much.

Our family's experience

They come across as everything is great and they're gonna do so much for your loved one. Promised to a shower every day and ended up being once or twice a week. She sat and pee all day they did not assist her in the bathroom, her roommate was completely bedridden, and the room smelled like urine constantly. The staff, if you couldn't find them at the desk, they were outside smoking. Don't get me wrong not every single employee was bad just the majority there were a few there that you could tell really cared about your loved one. The kitchen staff was amazing and really worked with my mom's diet as a diabetic. We also have her on everything organic and natural, and they worked really hard except they didn't understand that sugar-free still meant sugar just as a chemical. And it's still spiked her blood sugar in six weeks. Only one time I went in her sugar was under 200. My daughter and I visited her 3 to 4 times a week at different times and it didn't matter same result every day. I sent an email requesting that she leave because I had lost my job and not able to afford it anymore and it was three weeks notice and she said that was plenty of time. I have received two bills since then of course I'm not paying them because my mom was actually not there. The lady, I reached out to said not to worry about it, but I guess she didn't communicate that up. If your loved one is cognitive and mobile, it would be a great place. Those people seem to thrive. I took her in on a Saturday. I went to see her Tuesday and her ankles were swollen as if she had been sitting in a chair for four days. She couldn't get up and barely do anything by herself. They wouldn't ensure she put on pajamas at night or changed her brief or brushed her teeth. My mom works great on cues. I had to get a note from the dentist to make them make her brush her teeth at night. Everyone kept saying they were shortstaffed, but I'm sorry don't bring on new patients if you don't have enough people to care for them. But the only reason I gave them is two is because of the kitchen staff and a few good nurses and Techs. The facility was clean except for individual rooms. They couldn't understand simple things as the family would do the laundry and they would not even changed the sheets even though I kept two sets there.

Not Sure
March 3, 2026

I was thinking there was a program in place to help the resident break into things, so that they were able to come to the facility for activities for a whole days a couple days a week to get the feel of the place, that was not offered. The smell of urine as we entered the facility was very, very strong and we were put off by that.

Needs Much Improvement.

You pay for what you get. It's lower priced and lower quality of care. Management seems to be very disconnected with the staff. Every time I asked the staff about the new wing opening, when does Dad get into his room, they have no idea. One staff member told me she doesn't hear anything and hasn't seen management in months because she works the evening shift. Nobody is keeping tabs on Dads showering. Right now, he doesn't have a shower in his room, (the new room will), every time I ask, nobody has an answer. He's been there 2 months and I've washed his bath towel only 3 TIMES! Forget trying to talk to someone in management , all calls go to voicemail and are not returned. The dining experience is nothing. No flowers on the table, no placemats, no music, it's sterile, cold, and quiet. Dad's first meal, they sat him down and didn't give him silverware.

Beware, not what it seems!

So far, I am not very impressed or content. The meals are worse than what we were served in grade school. The dining room is not very clean nor are the tables or the silverware. The building itself is fairly "raggedy". Paint is peeling off of some of the walls in the lobby. The walls and elevators never seem to be cleaned. The garbage rooms are filthy. The laundry rooms seem to always have at least 1 broken washer or dryer that doesn't get fixed. We are supposed to get our rooms cleaned once a week. I have been here a month tomorrow and I have only had my room cleaned 1 time. We are also supposed to get clean linens weekly. I only get a towel or 2 when I beg for some. Maintenance is a whole other matter. Except for 1 new man they are lazy and never fix anything correctly and never come back when they say they will. Their receptionist is very unfriendly. Their GM is very unapproachable. Their saleswoman who "sold" me on this property never came to check on me to see if I need anything or to see if I liked it here. Once she got me here and got my rent, I have not seen her again. Their shuttle is much more limited than I was lead to believe so I have to find my own transportation to medical appointments. The agency that was supposed to provide caregivers ( for a fee ) located in the building has turned out to be extremely short-staffed so I've been on my own to find an outside agency for a caregiver.

Some of the staff were kind. There was a nurse that literally told me I shouldn't be there with my mom. She was very rude and unkind. Then one cna never came in to help . She was very rude also. The gentleman that admits people was kind and understanding.

Review for The Maynard

As a family, we decided to put her in there so she could experience people, her age, enjoy singing activities, crafts, and companionship. She could do everything on her own from grooming to bathroom to eating. Every time we came to pick her up, she was soaked from the waist down. She ended up with a UTI, which I knew two weeks prior to her having a fall there and ending up at the hospital. The nurses were usually outside smoking if we couldn't find any. The communication there is awful among the staff as far as transitioning from a.m. to p.m. There are a few very very, very good techs and staff who try really hard but the system is completely broken.

Not pleased

I went to visit my friend quite a few times & found this place unacceptable. The aides are rude, none of the aides speak English. I tried to communicate with 2 of them for my friend and they didn’t understand what I was talking about. How do they do their jobs if they can’t communicate? I have witnessed the ignorance with the residents on many occasions. The food looks unhealthy, during Lent for dinner they had a cup of watered down broth with onions and a salad which was nothing but greens. The place is clean and beautiful but the people lack decorum. I’m glad my friend is no longer there so I never have to see that see that place again. I want people to know they need to do research before placing their loved one in this facility.

Not a place to send your family member

No recreational activities available. The staff was not at all friendly or helpful. I did not care for this place.

Needed More Care

My husband was not pleased with the care his father received in the few short days he was there. I think they missed doses of his medication and meals, forgetting he was there. He probably needed more care than they could provide.

Rain Forest Landings review

Nursing staff frequently not available and never returned calls. A/C never worked properly in room. Maintenance unable to fix. We had to buy fans to cool the room. So much turnover and always understaffed. While resident was in hospital, items such as countertop ice maker and smart speaker were stolen. Also medication pilfered. They did reimburse for price of stolen items. Trouble keeping good kitchen staff. Daily afternoon ice cream cart frequently not supplied

Would not recommend

The only thing I liked were the activities they did with them and the outings they took them on. They kept them busy and engaged. The facility itself was dirty, chaotic, disorganized. There were cockroaches in my mom's room, she caught scabies while there and they covered it up, said she didn't have it and we visited her with no precautions. They didn't treat it until she was infected . Communication was nonexistent and horrible. I would never recommend anyone send a loved one there. My mother also wore the same clothing sometimes for a week straight
