Not only does this company raise the rent by a percentage rate on the anniversary of the person (parent) that moved in, but they tell you one thing and do another. They went through 3 different managers in less then 2 yrs of my mom being there. When my mom was in need of assisted living and had to move out of their independent living facility, I gave them proper 30 day notice of her moving out YET they tried to charge me an extra month following that 30 days. Also during the last 30 days where as my mom was absent due to medical reasons, I was told that she would receive a refund portion of her rent paid for the meals she missed. After not finding a credit to her account regarding this issue two months later, I've called and emailed this company over and over again with NO response. Finally, after being very persistent yesterday to actually talk with someone in billing I find out that they have a SYSTEM on how they figure out on what they OWE you and it came to a grand total of $50 for the month! ARE YOU JOKING ME?

We have not had a good experience with Crescent Heights at all. To start things off the sales guy we worked with made all sorts of promises that did not end up panning out, told us about specials that would lower the rate, etc. so that when it got time to sign the papers the cost was much higher than we were lead to believe. There have also been a lot of issues with the facility being very understaffed. They were supposed to assign him a guide for the first few weeks to help him settle in to the community, which was not done. The meal service is also VERY slow, it takes them 2 hours to serve lunch, and they can't even manage to get the coffee out in the morning until 9am. They've had some management staff walk out on them, and often when I call to try and get ahold of someone I am talking to a temp who will only be there a day or two. Until they get a whole lot of things straightened out I cannot recommend this community at all.

the place was nice but they couldn't provide what we needed and felt like she wasn't listing to what we were saying. Then they called ten times in a 2 hour period and I wasn't here. When we said no she called my home to talk to my sister and wouldn't take no for an answer. The discounts they offered were good but they wanted an answer in 24 hours which isn't enough time to make a decision like that. It was like talking to a car sales person.

If this is a Holiday like [Removed]. I am not interested. I read the one review and see that the couple who was also diabetic had the same experience we had with the food, no exceptions, no special ordering. A far cry from the service at Thunderbird! I don't even want to try it. Too bad because I need a place on Maui for a wedding/my 65th birthday in early 2015.

It was dirty. They were strict on dining, if you don't show up on time, like when they serve the salad, if you show up after that then you don't get the salad! I didn't like the rooms. I didn't like the activities, or rather the lack of activities, and it wasn't a pretty place. The brochure was great but the actual building was not great. They showed me one apartment that was all stained, you shouldn't show people apartments like that! I thought they didn't really have assisted living, you have to hire your own caregiver on top of the rent.

They could improve on the responsiveness to the residents concerns, and requests. I picked this community because it was closer to relatives. I do like the hospitality and the residents are spectular. Overall, I really like the community.

Our family had a terrible experience with Essex House - we weren't even there for 24 hours.

Run as fast as you can. The place is a dump. It's dirty. It's understaffed. They keep hiring people, but they're teenagers who quit. Sometimes I'll go three weeks without getting my room cleaned, so I had to go out and buy my own cleaning stuff. The food is disgusting. I couldn't believe how high in sodium and fat it is. Everything my cardiologist told me to stay away from is what they're feeding us. There's nothing wrong with the people here. They're friendly. There's just no staff, so they're all carrying a heavy load. There's a brand new activities director who doesn't know what she's doing, but she's trying. Basically I'm getting very little for what I'm paying.

Our family had a horrible experience, it was a complete nightmare. The staff members would randomly walk to the residents rooms without knocking. The administrative staff team and kitchen staff would have keys to the rooms and enter without knocking. House keeping went weeks without cleaning our loved ones room, and the cleanliness of the community was average. The travel service was not working and they did not have alternative plans, so our loved one being diabetic missed a very important foot care appointment, which could of resulted in amputation. Luckily we made different plans so that did not happen. They also said if we move in by the end of December we would not have to pay rent until March, but a month later they came banging on our loved ones door demanding rent paying, so they did not follow through with the special offer they had running for families.

I would tell others, to not put any family member here. My loved one was there for a short time. The community was supposed to be delivering three meals a day. They weren't able to deliver all the meals, accommodate special dietary restrictions. As far as the money factor is they don't take deposits. They call it a community fee, and they don't refund it when you move out.

The food was the worst I have ever had. The vegetables were old and overcooked. Many of the meals I couldn't even identify what the food was. When we came to visit before moving in, there was a variety of foods to choose from and they were actually good. Now that we have moved in there is no choice of foods and we get the same meals over and over. We end up throwing out most of the meals because they are so bad.

When I first came here three years ago the food was very good. Now each meal is getting worse and I’m having to order food from Fred Meyer‘s to supplement the meals that are enedible. Also the activities are far and few between. I don’t know if there’s a shortage of money but there’s a lot of things that can be done with A small amount of money i.e. lectures talks slide shows etc. it doesn’t seem to do any good when you put a suggestion in the Box.

My mother has been a resident for six years . The life there has declined drastically this past year. Meals are not palatable for the residents. Poor service for the monthly rate.

Do not, let me repeat , do not send your family members to this unforgiving thoughtless, over charging prison. They do serve what is on the menu they tell them this is what you get today and if you do not like it move out.....WFT? The manager [name removed] is a very rude and ignorant individual from another country and does not know about taking care of Canadians who deserve it. This piece of work does not care about the residence, all he wants is the over charged monthly fee for them to stay there.

If you want a facility for older seniors with no problems this will work. It is a month to month facility. They do provide 3 meals each day, activities, laundry and once a week cleaning. The food is terrible. No on site security, Drs.or nursing staff. After 9:00 the residence is completely deserted. The kitchen staff quits monthly. The bus driver was out on leave for 6 weeks. My mother died in this facility after they raised her rent up to 2950.00 a month. We're worried that we would not get the place cleaned in time for someone else to move in. Then they doubled charged us in February. What a joke. Not including the hatchet throwing since August.??

They have mice. We caught one the other night in our parent’s suite after chasing a couple. Called the office for assistance but got no help. The food is awful. They don’t help in emergencies. They watch residents die.

Lived here for almost a year. Trying to find another place to move to ASAP. The place is filthy. Stains on all the rugs in the halls & dining room.(20 years old). Upholstered chairs are old, discolored, and urine stained! Food gets worse with every month. Down to one chef for a couple of months. Soups are mostly vegetable with canned veggies, no flavor. Several days you can't get served a second cup of coffee. Hot dogs are a menu item at least once a week. Sandwiches several times a week. Only one small elevator for a place with over 100 residents. Gurneys barely fit. 30 to 40 percent use walkers or wheelchairs. people have to wait in line to go up to 2nd & 3rd floors. This is supposed to be "gracious independent living". It's anything but. If you fall, they call EMS to pick you up. Many residents should be in assisted living. Doors are locked at 7:30 pm. NO security ! Management is only concerned about the money
