I’m happy I received the invitation to review Forest Pines. There just are enough words to describe them. My 89 year old mom was in the hospital with a UTI. She was very weak and sick. [name removed] from Forest Pines came to visit. She was very bubbly and nice to my mom. The next thing I know [name removed] swooped into my mom’s room for a second visit. She told my mom she was in the hospital and thought she would just pop in to have her sign the lease as she put the lease in front of her on her dinner tray. What lease..we weren’t signing any lease. It was very well known my mom was having cognitive issues due to the UTI. I was listed as the contact person for my mom for any matters that may arise. This information was given to A Place for your Mom..which was passed on to Forest Pines. [Name removed] completely went around me hiding the fact she was tricking my mom into signing a lease. To make an even longer story short...she asked for my moms’s debit card and charged $1550 for a deposit. It took two months to get the money back (equivalent to one months social security check). I told them she was being discharged to home and now her electricity had been turned off due to lack of funds in her account. They put her in jeopardy with her mortgage payment and other obligations as well. They still didn’t refund the money. The only way we got the money back was through a dispute with the bank under fraud. The bank reversed the deposit out of Forest Pines account. Don’t ever trust these people with your elders. It’s all about the money with them. What a classic swindle! I have read many other reviews like this about Forest Pines. Run....other way!!!

My parents lived in here. They did not like this place at all. The food was not good. Very bland. Staff were miserable to them. The cleaning by their Housekeeper [name removed] was not good at all. The activities were very repetitive. Management is just out to make money for themselves.

Awful! There is no where on line to do a review for GENESEE GARDENS (a HOLIDAY RETIREMENT COMMUNITY) and after a lot of thinking I decided that people should know about it. When you call, they do NOT return your call. When you email cooperate, they do not respond. This was for an entire week. When you move in you give a $1700 non refundable deposit. You are told there is NO LEASE (it is month to month). When move our cake I found out “THAT GIRL HAD BEEN FORED” so there was no one to back up what I had been told. Now, when you move out there is a form they never tell you about ( AHEAD OF TIME OR AT THE MOVE IN TIME). This a a “Special form”. IF YOU DO NOT FILL OUT THIS SPECIAL FORM they proceed to tell you you will be billed an additional month at $3100. If you give them written notice it is not valid unless it is in this special form and if you call to give them notice it is unacceptable. When you move out, I was told by [name removed], the manager, that there is NO DUMPSTER to throw away two cushions and a lamp. I was told that there were two remotes and they only found one however only one tv was ever hooked up. The maintenance man had said he’d move a lazy boy to another tenant that requested it. [name removed], the manager, told me on moving day, that he could not do it. So, on moving day the movers I WAS PAYING were given the wrong apartment number and then WHEN THEY LUGGED IT all the way back to the apartment they were given the correct one and moved it again on my dime. If you live there as a tenant and something happens the front desk tells the caller they can NOT GO DOWN and check on that tenant. This particular tenant had had a grand mall seizure and by the time I got the ambulance there he was code blue. This is what an assisted living home does? I have done friends who’s parents are here. I felt you should know how they act when it is move out time. They refused to give 10 days rent back for the month of March. They wanted to charge for the full month of April, no one returns your calls and I did not get a response to my several emails.

This place is rotten, they treat people like cattle. Very bad experience, and by the way the manager is a pathological liar. Also, right after I was forced to move my mother, my email and phone number was given to solicitors, hows that for vindictive. Take your loved on prison, it'll be better for them

My mother lives here, she has complained to me several times that the Assistant manager has taken her food order and never brought her food, leaving my mother goodness on numerous occasions. My mother has been immobile due to an injury and is fearful she has been singled out for no reason. I've spoken to the Assistant manager and have nothing positive to say. Poor management. We are looking elsewhere.

I am very angry and disappointed. The stay was wonderful and staff very friendly, so I have no problem with that aspect. I was overcharged and it was deliberate. When I first inquired about a month's respite stay, I was quote a rate of $2,300. This same rate was on both the lease and agreement. But very underhandedly there was addendum that mentioned $110 per day rate, but no indication where that charge applied. I normally thought it was for stays under one month. Now I find out that that any stay under three months is charged the daily rate. This is not in any verbal or written correspondence. So I have been overcharged $1,220. This is not the way to do business.

I am a current resident, but will be moving. If you want a place that runs out of basics like orange juic, yogurt, raisin bread, bagels, and cream cheese you will love it here .If you want a place that runs out of enter items on an unexpired menu of continuous chicken and pork this is the place for you. If you want to live in a pace that lacks inspired management then you found a home. How they received the reviews posted, they could not be from residents. If you want a place that was not designed for senior, who elevators may pass you by two or three time because of limited cApacity for walkers, wheelchairs and scooters. Then you found a home.

Terrible place kitchen is nasty food is always late or never enough

Everyone and everything has surpassed our expectations. All staff members are wonderful & we have no complaints. So happy to have my friend @ Pinegate and have told everyone I know how great it is. Thanks to all.

We were very disappointed. People not super friendly, very few activities to speak of. Food was AWFUL! Consistently ran out of things, forgot to order French fries for fish & chps, served mixed frozen veggies instead, ugh. My husband ordered a BLT as featured for dinner, was served sandwich with 2 heels. Don’t think chef ever cooked homestyle- carrot cake was white cake with raw julienned carrots inside& whipped topping. Often took 2 hours for meal service, she was exhausted after sitting there. Just terrible- Mom lost weight. Moved her to Creekside Manor after 3 months- like night and day. 3 course meal service, in and out in less than half hour if she chooses, now having to watch her consumption as food is so good. Lots of activities, wonderful long-term staff. Like having someone on call 24/7/365.

Holiday Retirement is money-hungry, NOT resident friendly! They have hidden arbitrary "policies" that are not disclosed until it is "convenient" - for their benefit, not for the residents. My advice: STAY AWAY - from ALL Holiday Retirement facilities! Their policies are nationwide, not merely local. The daily staff people were often quite good. A number of them were very caring and kind. But MANAGEMENT was awful!!! Turnover for both staff and management was quite high. Management was often arrogant and rude. The only thing that seemed to matter to them was how much money they could drag out of their residents, often with callous and inconsiderate responses to a resident's personal "crisis".

Constant turn over of staff. At times only 1 person serving entire dining room leading to over two hour wait time for food service. Staff that hangs on works hard, but excessive turn over leads to disruption in daily activities, meal service, and overall happiness of residents. Something not right about the management of this place. Would not recommend it unless cost and apt. size are your only motivation to find a place. Sadly, that is what makes my mother refuse to leave.

Center was a blessing for our mom during a years stay when in need. Following her exit to live with family she has yet to get her refunds after over 2 months. Worst of all after numerous attempts and messages [name removed] fails to return a call to resolve timely. Signed, disappointing departure!

My parent have lived here for 3 years. The cost has gone up almost $1,000 per month since then. The food is awful. Kitchen staff do the best they can, but the quality of food purchased is horrible. My mom has had stomach issues since she moved in. Management constantly make empty promises to improve. Thankfully, my parents are moving out of this over priced, poorly managed place.

I would not take my dog there to be taken care of. There is not enough help and the ones that do care, and i use that term loosely, do not do anything but the bare minimum. The corporate office is more concerned with marketing and getting the rooms filled than with good care. They ignore prescriptions to be given (only to find that they can't find them). They don't seem to be able to do the rudimentary extras that we pay for at the tune of $5k a month..... The activities director, [name removed], is awesome and so are a very few of the staff, but for the most part, it is sub par care for a very high price tag. As far as i am concerned it is verging elder abuse, and we will be removing my parent from the facility asap. We would not care for him the way they are, i.e., shaving (never), nail trimming (never), nail cleaning (never), etc. Sitting in diapers that haven't been changed for hours, just disgusting. This is after repeated notification to the Care coordinator, Administrator and other staff members. Clothing is missing, or not done effectively, leaving no clothes to wear if an accident. The list goes on....but I am sure that you get the just.

My father has recently made the move into this community and he is not happy at all. The staff seem to be okay but they are not great at working on pleasing the residents needs. My dad has had many poor dinning room experiences where they never give him what he orders and when he receives the meals they are burnt or very poor quality. The thing that I am bothered most with is when he would complain to try and get it fixed they would give him lots of attitude. I also think it is odd that the housekeepers are also the waitresses, they just seemed very over worked and tired. With how things have gone my dad has decided to remove himself from this place and would not recommend it to anyone.
