The activities are able to participate in activities again. The restrictions by COVID guidelines limits it to 10 people in a room. I would encourage people to come and look at Maple Downs. The community features ponds and woods. I have nothing to compare this to, due to COVID.

Unfortunately, we lived here for two years. My husband passed in May. We had five children and now I'm alone. Our son invited me to move to N. Carolina and live with him and his family. What I enjoyed most was the kindness of the entire staff. Their young faces kept me smiling.

Enjoy it here, my studio apt. is quite spacious and bright. Personnel are nice and caring. Building and grounds are beautiful and well kept. Only flaw is the food - portions are too small never hot (or warm) and don't look appetizing. A shame!!

1) Hot meals to be delivered hot 2) Meals, in general, should be delivered when scheduled and not 1 and 1/2 hour late 4) Cleanliness: vacuuming hallways and sanitizing 5) Apartments are cleaned every 2 weeks, they should be done more thoroughly 7) Better communication between management/supervision for the high school students 8) Overall, the service is not all that bad, but there is a need for better service and communication Thank you

Difficult times, management needs better cost-cutting. Not good foods and services need supervision - not children's services. Effective training is in need. Most important - supervisors do not meet needs. Not good but not bad. Ok I suppose.

Management doesn't always consider people's needs and wants. Was better when we move in a year ago. Meals - mediocre. Transportation - sporadic.

We do have to pay extra for the care service, and she has never used them so we don't know how good the care services are. Before COVID they had bingo, and exercise classes. She likes the food at this community. Prior to COVID they were getting three meals a day in the dining room which allowed them to socialize. Now the food is being delivered to their rooms and the quality of the food has gone way down. All the residents are on lock down so its like living in a prison. The rooms however at White Oaks are pretty average in size.

I would say To make sure their parent is fully functional and independent in order to thrive at this community. If they are not, then this is not a facility for them. We chose this community for the price, budget, and quick turnaround to move in. I would recommend this community for independent living . The food is average with two options are each meal. Be aware that the rate increases by 10% every year.

I would say because of the current environment, this doesn't reflect for the cleanliness of the rooms. They stopped dusting the rooms due to COVID I recently removed my father due to the emergency calls, and they didn't let me know about them until the third one. They do have a calendar elevators of activities. They had music, church, bingo, multiple activities every day that were scheduled. A lot of these activities ended due to COVID and it caused a lot of people to move out.

I haven't had a hot meal for 4 months.

I think they have done a good job keeping residents safe from Covid 19. I appreciate they make a genuine effort to include input from residents concerning meals and activities. I hear positive comments about all the staff but it does seem they have a lot of turnover. I am aware of issues with cleanliness and feel part of that results from under staffing. It is surprising to me that no staff are on duty at night or weekends. It would seem prudent to have someone there in case of emergency.

Dad: I really liked [name removed]. She excelled in every task she performed. Very nice lady and a hard worker. Also very happy with [name removed] the head chef. [name removed] and [name removed] also like very much. Son: I am very happy with the care and facilities. I am particularly impressed that you have been able to keep the residents safe from the pandemic. Every body I have had to talk with has been friendly and professional. It is truly a tribute to all who manage and work at The Woods. Only complaint is the turnover.

Quality of the food is Barely acceptable. I have gotten to the point where I’m buying my own food instead of eating the meals they provide I understand they are going through a pandemic but the activities are extremely minimal. A flyer with games on it is delivered to our apartments each day but the only way we can get a list of the current activities is to go down to the bulletin board near the lobby. It seems that all the activities are around food. In checking around to other facilities like Creekside they are offering college classes or presentations. I have made a very good friend here and she would not be willing to move at this time but otherwise I would consider moving.

Devonshire is under excellent management and is to be commended for their hard work that has prevented Covid for entering the community. The managers and staff do an excellent job. Carmello, Nicki and Deborah are exceptionally devoted and caring. The food, however, is terrible.

I have little experience on other facilities to compare it. I feel that the quality of food is not what would be expected for the prices paid for rent. Sometimes it seems too overpriced, and then they economize again with starchy foods. Otherwise, the service is good, friendly staff, bus service, entertainment now because of Covid-19, stopped.

It is a very nice place. Friendly people. Being on a pretty strict diet, I sometimes have problems with the meals.

Happy with my choice.

Assisted living has a lot to be desired; especially for the elderly who need more than carpet sweeping in the apartment.

My parents have a very nice apartment here with an expansive deck. They are choosing to move out after 2 years due to what they describe as inedible food. They have made numerous complaints to the manager. They have joined with others to cook meals in crockpots & share. They often go out to eat so are basically also paying for meals they do not eat. I wish this facility could correct this deficit.

I moved into this community just before COVID-19 restrictions in March. Normally, 3 meals per day are served in the dining room. Now meals are delivered to each of the 15 apartments individually. I like this place. The location, all the basic services, and amenities. My one significant problem is the food. The meals don't even come close to fulfilling what a nutritious diet should be. Meat and potatoes are featured at every meal plus a "garnish" (including breakfast) of vegetables and apples/oranges for snacks. The soups are bland, diluted broth with a few leftover vegetables. It would be GREAT except for the food. I am expecting a choosemyplate.gov for older adults. That is also tasty. The food here is bland and have sugary drinks and cookies are served 2X each day. These large servings of meat and empty calories are not suited for our residents many of whom are affected with diabetes, COPD, and arthritis +++. The frail elderly require education about good nutrition. The average age in this community is 80 y.o. We need large amounts of tasty vegetables, whole grains and fruits, and much much less protein, i.e. meat and egg reference.
