My mom and I visited Burlington Gardens on 25 March 2016. Adam was a friendly and gracious host. The facilities were bright and well maintained the rooms (we looked at a 2-bedroom and 2 1 3dbedroom units) were spacious bright and well designed the dining room and the various activity areas were also spacious and bright. A concern for my mom was the length of the hallways (she has macular degeneration so distances and complexity are becoming issues). The menu and activity lists looked good and diverse.Our main concern was that just before the end of the visit Adam began what both of us considered to be a hard sell approach to buying a unit. Neither of us liked this approach which seemed so different from the rest of the tour and was particularly unwelcome since we had just begun to look at places (this was the first senior living place we had looked at

Primrose Chateau has seen management and catering turnover particularly since the purchase by Atria in 2014. The comments in this review reflect operations predominantly under their ownership in 2014 and onward. This is not value for money. Poor food quality and lacklustre maintenance undermine what could be a much better product warranting its premium price. The Negatives - Despite having reasonable food initially, the quality slipped considerably after the Atria takeover along with ongoing turnover in kitchen staff. These meals are prepared by cooks not Chefs as they claim. Examples include a piece of ham on dry bread being called a sandwich and pea soup being served which was frozen in the centre (not long enough in the microwave). It is with some suspicion we noted the change in policy wherein staff and management ceased eating meals from the kitchen. - long delays in replacing broken washing machines and attending to maintenance items - Requirement that doctor appointments be booked in mornings if wishing to use supplied transportation (how often do specialists give an option for times?) The Positives - The staff at the time were on top of medical items and kept an eye out for the residents. This will vary depending on the people employed. It gave very good piece of mind. - The place is clean and nicely appointed.

Beautiful . Price was a bit on the high side. Grounds lovely. I got the feeling most residents here were very independent and active. Seemed very spread out, would be a long walk for my mom from room to dining room, so not our first choice

The Longlake Chateau screams elegance and beauty and really everything here has been totally positive vibes from the start.

I guess that the Aspen View facility is adequate for what my loved ones expected. I know the meals are kind of drab though, but that is probably because they have to make their meals for a lot of residents.

The marketing person will tell you anything you want to hear to get you to move-in, and when that happens they turn it over to the manager who tells you something else entirely and so you are scrambling around trying to figure some things out. We asked several times if there will be wrist band for my loved one so he can contact the caregivers, but it was only for 911 calls, so we had to pay for an outside program and it was all just a hassle.

May dad has had a pleasant experience with Amber Meadows overall. The reasent firing of one of the directors has shocked us. My dad is questioning some of his withdrawals done by Amber Meadows and hopefully this can be resolved and his mind put at ease.

The value is great. All meals are included in the cost. We and my mother wish there was a little more flexibility about meal times but that is a small concession. They do not provide rides to church on Sundays, but do have different services for different faiths. All public areas are clean and well lit. The dining area is large and clean. They have extra activities such as movie night and even had a Polka band there one evening. They have a home health care group onsite also and at $5 a visit for med supervision, you can't do much better.

At Briarcrest Estates my parents are struggling greatly with the food. It is just not good. That has been pretty consistent. I think they are looking for another facility due to how bad the food is. It is just that bad.

The food is tolerable. Some of the things said during the tour are completely false so I suggest you record it. The WIFI is free but it is censured. Ordinary web sites from the news are blocked for some reason.

Montara Meadows is fine. I am blind and they told me no problem and they have someone to help me. Come to find out it is a separate agency that come help and they charge me any time I need this separate help. They walk my dog for me. I talked to someone about this. They told me it would cost about $400 a month. Well, after two weeks they charged me over $500. Every time I need help for any little thing they charge me. I am not sure I can stay here because it is so expensive. They had told me I would be charging me for walking my dog. I expected that but everything else is surprising. I am quite a distance from my husband that stayed in the house too. Otherwise if I could see it would be a wonderful place. The first couple of weeks my nieces were here with me I enjoyed the things they offer. But I just cant get them to help me here or I will be charged. Everybody is really nice. They clean once a week. The managers and everybody are right there if I have complaint. The residents here are really nice too.

Well the biggest problem I ran into was the original person I interviewed with was gone after a week. So we kind of got dropped in the middle of the everything. Like when they were suppose to pull out the rent, they pulled out the wrong date and it took them a long time to fix some problems. Just the slowness of preparing things. And some of the things she promised when we toured, we have not seen happen. It's not so bad I would pull my dad out of there, I was just a little disappointed.

Was not invited for lunch, found the rep very pushy more concerned about me committing than listening to my needs. Information given wasn't consistent, leaving me not to trust her.

My mom wanted to move to Churchill Manor because she had had friends who had lived here and really enjoyed it. However, we found out after mom moved in that CM is under new management, a firm from the US. I am not impressed with their team. They have pretty much laid off all the staff we knew from when we were negotiating mom's lease. The new chef is not very good--my mom shares stories of what they are given to eat, and the quality of food does not live up to our expectations. My mom says she doesn't get enough meat proteins, and some dishes are seasoned strangely, and not to her liking. The fruit juices are too sweet, probably because they are using cheaper "beverages" rather than 100% juices. They rarely get potatoes, or beef. My mom has noticed that the wait staff are in short supply, and many seem overwhelmed. They let go Lorne and Laura, who were live-in resident managers, and now the single man who replaced them is leaving too, and he wasn't a live-in manager. Some of the residents likely should not be there. One gentleman seems to have Alzheimers, and constantly wanders around, my mom feels like she needs to keep her door locked at all times in case he comes into her suite. There is another lady who cannot get herself into or out of her chair at the dining table, and needs wait staff to help her. We think that residents should be screened better since the requirement is that you have to be able to look after yourself. The staff are already few and overworked, often multi-tasking. The building design is another issue. There is only one elevator for the whole building, which is 3 floors of maybe 50 suites each, so there is always a traffic jam before and after meal times. It is also a bit of a safety hazard for so many residents with limited mobility. One fellow seems to hog the TV room, as he essentially made my mom and her guests feel like they had to leave when he came in and wanted to watch TV. The pastor they have for the Christian church services does not speak clearly nor loudly, so my mom often can't hear him well. Many of the activities are not things my mom is interested in, so she doesn't participate much. Overall, while the suite is to her liking, and she is comfortable, we feel that there isn't good value for the money she is spending monthly to live there. If they improved their meal delivery and their on-site management staff, I would probably rate them much higher. They just need to do a better job of putting the seniors first, rather than the bottom line!

It was clean enough and there was nothing wrong with the place. They were fine, this just didn't turn out to be a good fit for my loved one's personality. She didn't like the environment.

It's gone a little downhill since mom moved in. A lot of people have left that mom was familiar with. It's clean and the food is okay. But the lack of consistency is tough on an older person, it's hard for them to build trust, when it's always a different person.

Very friendly staff.Was happy to provide us with free lunch, when we took our tour and even invited us for dinner!Descent food and plenty, not five star restaurant quality but didn't expect that. Seems like a fair value for the money depending on your needs. Has separate service that does Ala Carte care-giving,currently only readily available during daytime hours from 7am-7pm, although there is 24hr on site person for emergencies.Currently only have pull cords in bedrooms for emergencies though,should update to wearable call alert type of system that clients can use from wherever they are, if they have a fall or other emergency.Could also use some other mostly minor upgrades that would make it nicer overall. Allows smoking in rooms and designated areas, so some areas have a slight smell of cigarette smoke,not a big issue to us but may bother some. Worth checking out,wouldn't feel bad for my mother to be there if it ends up fitting our needs, and much better than a nursing home for sure!

We've had somewhat of a mixed experience with Churchill Manor recently. For the most part I think it is a nice place.The staff is friendly, and the facility itself is attractive and clean. However they recently went through a change of ownership and that has caused some turmoil. There's been a lot of staff turnover which has caused some problems with communication and disrupted some of the regular services. The food has been very hit or miss, as they haven't been able to keep a chef on long term.
