As a resident of Bridge Park, I have areas in which I applaud the management. The place is kept clean as a whistle, the various managers are helpful and considerate, the bus service does not go everywhere but goes where most residents need to go and is handled by a delightful gentleman who makes sure each rider is always safe and secure, and the rooms are quite nice. The meals, sadly, leave something to be desired. Menus and service are dictated by Headquarters, lack real variety and are often served less than hot. I would not agree that they have a "chef" but would rather call him a "chief cook."

My mother is very happy here though she does say the food could be improved immensely.

Genesee Gardens is a really nice place, and the management really tries hard to make it great. They go out of their way to try to keep their residents happy. However, some things are out of their control. I moved my mother here several months ago. While I was here, I had several meals served by the kitchen staff. I was able to get a good sampling of breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was very good. However, in recent months, my mother has told me that there has been turnover in the kitchen staff, and the food quality has been in decline. Mom is easy to please when it comes to food so I know something must be off. She also said many of the other residents are complaining about the food too. I'm hoping they can figure out how to get the food quality back to where it was. Also, please do your research on the nursing care that is available here. I never want to bash a place so I'll sign off with a positive. Mom is overall fairly happy with the place and very comfortable. Again, I can't say enough great things about the manager and assistant manager. They are both wonderful and will do anything within their means to help their residents.

The Regent is doing some things very well. The staff is very nice, and the other residents here are great. I do like that they offer many activities and that they do a pretty good job keeping the community tidy. However, The food is very mediocre, and I am not fond of the management. I was told when I toured that there is a security system at the community, but now that I am here, I find that that is not true at all. I really don't like being lied to, and the situation leaves me not feeling very good about the community.

[Removed] was wonderful she gave me suggestions and was honest and caring. She checked back with me to see how things were going.

I toured at Hidden Lakes when I was looking for a new place for myself. I really liked the community, and I thought that the person giving the tour was very nice and informative, however, I did not like that the community had so many stairs, so I knew it would not be the best fit for me.

My Grandmother was here for a short while and things did not go well. She had to go to the restroom and they helped her get to the bathroom – that was at 7pm. Once she was settled, they left and she was stuck there for 17 hours. She said she called for help several times and no one came by until 1 pm the next day because she hadn’t shown up at the dining area. The day after all of this happened, after she had been found and was able to rest, the general manager called an ambulance to check on her. The facility never notified me, I found out from a nurse that called me from the hospital that she was there and then found out that the general manager never took the time to figure out what hospital she was being taken to. As far as the actual facility itself is concerned, I know that they try to make the rooms look like apartments but I think the facility is geared more towards the independent living. She had to go to a rehab facility for a bit and was very hesitant about coming back here. I’ve been dealing with the manager the most and I’ll give her all the credit in the world for being able to step up and help out with my Grandmother because I’m in California and I’m not able to be there all the time. There have been times where the ball has been dropped, but [Removed], the manager, has really been trying to help. She’s really been going above and beyond. There are obviously changes that need to be done, and they were able to make a few changes to her room to try and prevent anything else from happening, but I just don’t know if it’s set up for the type of the care that she needs.

We toured Rock Creek for my brother, and the place looked really nice. I really liked it and thought it has a lot of potential. However, it was more expensive that some other places we looked at, and as a family, we just didn’t feel like it could suit all of my brother’s needs.

Thornton place was one of the first communities I toured when I was looking with a friend's niece for a place for her aunt. I can't say I'm impressed. It's a nice place, clean from what I've seen, but there are no nurses on staff. There's also no staff available during the night, so if someone needs help or there are problems, there's no one there to help them. There's no memory care available either, which was just something that my friend needed. Overall this place isn't bad, but it wasn't our first choice.

The community is a nice place, it was the best place in my area that I saw when I was touring. I didn't have a lot of time and I wanted a place close to me for my mom. Her room is clean and spacious. However, the people who run it could be more nicer and accommodating. It is very comforting that if she needs help she can call me or the doctor and there is always someone there with her. They have bus trips to the casino, which she enjoys. On Sundays they take a bus to church and afterwards, those who want to join in on Mystery Drive. I am very happy to have found this place, I did not know they were in my area.

Mom is doing very well here. She was able to take her dog which was a good thing. Her back door opens to the parking lot so he is able to go outside and play ball and take him for walks. She is meeting new people and making friends. She enjoys the activities they offer. She likes the food. The location is great for the family because it is close to my work and home.

My dad is doing good living here. He is starting to make friends and interacting with residents at mealtime. He is not doing the activities by choice it's not his thing. The staff is very friendly and nice. He is liking the food. The community is very nice and well maintained. Dads room is very spacious he is very comfortable in it.

I had lived in this facility for awhile, and it was just fine, but I could not stay due to the fact that there were continuous issues with the elevator, which does not work for my specific situation.

They were not happy with the size, it was a bit too small for them. The dining took way too long and there was only one elevator. Housekeeping was a bit lacking. There were a few little issues.

I have recently taken a tour of this community for my husband and I for possibly living arrangements. I am pleased to say that we are getting ready to make the move into this facility and start our new adventure with them. The staff have been very helpful with the transition and have made sure to answer any questions we had for them in detail. I liked the activity program they have available and thought the menu for the dinning room looked great with lots of variety. Overall we are happy and looking forward to the move.

My Mom is still adjusting to moving into Redwood Retirement Residence. It is going to take some time to really give a solid review because not only did she recently lose her husband, she has degenerative glaucoma and can only see a little. She has made some friends so far, so that helps. There are quite a few activities such as exercise and entertainment. We are having a problem with the meals provided. They are not very accommodating for people who have Celiac disease. Do other communities accommodate residents with dietary issues? The menus are not easy to read for my Mom to make the appropriate choices. The staff stated my Mom can just look and see what choices there are that won't interfere with her disease. I did remind them that she can't see well. It is a good neighborhood, very safe. Mom is quite happy with her apartment. Housekeeping comes in once a week and keeps the apartment nice and clean. It is very affordable and close to our home, the location is perfect for us. The guy that runs Redwood Retirement is warm, outgoing, and friendly, I think they need another second in command to help him out.

Very friendly staff and very obliging. Excellent food and service. Very very clean. Could use a dedicated exercise room with more equipment.

I was impressed from the moment I walked in. It was clean and very nicely decorated. My mom's room is clean and good sized for a studio. When we went down to have a dinner meal it was disappointing. Very flavorless with a very small selection to choose from. The employees were all very friendly and welcoming. If the food were improved, I could see mom staying here until she reaches the next level of elderly care needed. I didn't see any activities going on. Nice place.

My sister move to Durham Regent one week ago after being alone for four years. Needless to say the move was hard for her. Since she has been at Durham Regent she has made remarkable changes. She is walking to the dinning room three times a day where she wasn't walking much at all prior to the move. She compliments the chef and wait staff for their constant effort to satisfy the requests of the people living there. The socialization that had been missing in her life is so good for her. She seems to be very happy for the first time in a long time. Thank everyone involved in the move and helping her to be comfortable, safe and happy.

This is a great facility for guests who require level 1 or 2 assistance. They are not equipped to handle level 3 or 4. The assessment of my wife's needs was misleading and inaccurate. They do not provide 24 hour nursing or aide services. Coverage is only from morning to approximately 9 PM.
