It takes PATIENCE to live here at Golden Oaks. Meal service is slow taking ninety minutes to complete the meal. Food is well prepared and there are four selections per meal. Activities are numerous but participation is low for a unit this size. The advertized Independent Living is compromized by many of the residents having outside caregivers. There are sidewalks for walking, exercise equipment and exercize class daily. Activities do not encourage physical performance to maintain a healthy lfestyle in my opinion. There is bus transportation four days per week to shopping and doctor appointments. There is good value for the money but residents are older and suffering from aging body parts. So there is good and bad.

We think it’s a good value for the money. I recommend the community. It’s conveniently located. I hear the food is pretty good. I haven't had any trouble finding parking. They are clean, and I didn’t really get a chance to meet the staff, but I haven’t heard anything bad.

WE HAVE ONLY VISITED PARENTS TWICE SINCE THEY MOVED IN. WE ARE VERY PLEASED WITH THE FACILITIES AND THE STAFF. OUR PARENTS ARE STILL A LITTLE HESITANT ABOUT LEAVING THEIR HOME OF 60 YEARS. WE HAVE HOPE THAT THEY WILL QUICKLY ADJUST AND MAKE MANY NEW FRIENDS. THE ONLY DRAWBACK, ACCORDING TO PARENTS, IS THE DISTANCE TO THE DINING ROOM. THEY DO AGREE THE EXERCISE IS GOOD FOR THEM.

It works for me. It’s hard to know what to say. The food is good and there is enough variety. The staff are very quick to arrive when called. It’s a good value for the money. They need more maintenance staff.

Missy was very nice. I was impressed with the studios we were shown. It still seems that a majority of the residents we saw in the dining hall used wheelchairs or walkers. In the running!!!

Mom has been there for 14 days so it's too early to give a definitive reading the other tenant seem to be welcoming and an overall good experience.

toured facility with Randy. Very clean & nice. 1 bed $3249, 1 bed w/balcony $2799. Comm fee=1 month rent. Rent lock =1 mth fee good for entire time in that unit only. 3 meals daily. Phone extra. On-site mgrs 24/7. Weekly housekeeping/lines. Free Washer/dryer on each wing. Kitchenettes. Pull cords in every room. Contract outside add'l care as needed. Friendly staff.

Overall we are satisfied with everything there. The new managers Punteet and Kiran Chadha have been very accommodating, understanding and thorough. Additionally, my Mother enjoys the seating. She sit with the same ladies everyday, which has aided in getting her settled in. Again, overall extremely satisfied with the accommodations, food and management.

This is too far from my health care providers.

I had a great visit. Friendly staff, staff knows residents, nice residents, good food. I am not interested in Holiday properties unless I can't find anything else. There is too much variability between communities and they are more expensive and they have frequent (substantial) price increases.

I rated this place pretty well, but there are definitely areas of improvement. The food is one of the biggest issues.. it could definitely be better. I was told that the staff would make the effort to get to know the residents' needs, and accomodate them. The food options are not great for those who have specific meal requirements. The staff does not appear to be aware of my loved one's needs, or of what food options they have. The options are limited, and are not prepared properly. The sales person assured me that they could accomodate all needs, but there seems to be a lack of personalization. However, this was the cheapest place I found, which is good. They keep the community very clean, and the staff members are friendly.

The facility was nice, thrilled that they would allow my dad to have his 70 pound greyhound. I don't think my dad would like having to eat his meals at a set time with everyone else. I'm also not sure he'd like the name tags that they encourage everyone to wear. That's not a total deal breaker but after this location, I went to Shawnee Hills and was blown away there.

I liked this community. I felt comfort with the management. The people that run the place were friendly. I didn’t give cleanliness a 5 star just because of a feeling I had. The only thing is that it is 20-30 minute away.

After seeing 4 independent living locations in CO, I could tell immediately when we visited that this location would work for my father in Las Vegas. The staff were all great, the rooms had slightly more space than the ones in CO, and the common areas were very nice. I loved the fact that all 3 meals were included everyday. Even had a pool much to my surprise. I also learned that my father could visit us in CO at one of the many sister locations and stay for free (reserving ahead) and that we the family could also rent a room when visiting him for a fee. The food was good, and we were able to move him in immediately. Medicine administration is done by an independent group, but they are on-site so it seems to work well. It was the first time I'd heard of a 90 day commitment, but it's doable. One great feeling was that a couple we met said they looked for 1 year and half and in Vegas and chose this location as the best one. That felt good that my intuition was correct!

It's going pretty well so far. The food would be a 4, it's not the best, but it's good, and filling. I am still getting used to it, I can't think of anything they could improve yet. I like the bridge games.

Good environment. However we are not sure about whether we can get the needed specific caregiving.

These looked really amazing, and the tour was impressive. Everything looked very nice, and was kept up extremely well. However, they were just too expensive to be an option for us to consider. The quality did appear to be in line with the price.

This place is absolutely beautiful! The facility itself is lovely, and the staff are all very friendly. It's a very home and inviting place, and my Mom really likes it. The food is also quite good!

As I was searching for a less-expensive place than the fine old Bay Area one where I was living, I was delighted to find Redwood, which offered me much more room for around $600 less per month. The food is at least as good as before (although they don't serve wine with dinner here), and I am not asked to come up with tens of thousands of dollars to "buy in." In fact, after an upcoming 3% rent rise, for the cost of only one extra month's rent I can freeze my rent at that level for as long as I stay here! Yes, the plants are all plastic and there are no fine antiques in the lounge rooms, but for the difference in cost I'll get along without those luxuries.

This Holiday Retirement Community seemed a bit better run and looked spiffier. We met three of the management people, one of whom was a regional marketer, because they are at only 77% occupancy right now. Sherrill Hills has recruited some of their residents. Again there was no take-away marketing packet, but did receive a sample menu and monthly activity schedule as we did at the sister community in Chattanooga. Here we were able to see a sample of each of the two bedroom apartments for which we were not able to see any two bedroom apartments in Chattanooga. Continuing care is done on a subcontract basis at extra cost to the provider agency. The grounds a quite nice.
