Hoping to convince my elderly mother-in-law to move closer to family, my husband and I recently looked at the Manor at Woodside, a senior apartment complex that combines independent living with accessible amenities. The studio apartment we looked at includes a small kitchenette, although she would eat her daily meals in the spacious dining room (included in the monthly fee). While it’s not an assisted living facility, the Manor has affordable caregivers (home health aides) onsite to provide help with residents’ personal needs (independently operated & not included in monthly fee). We found the atmosphere at the Manor very welcoming. The building is bright and clean, with wide, well-lighted hallways. [name removed], the Director of Sales, is very personable and was incredibly helpful. He and General Manager, [name removed], listened attentively and offered suggestions for her smooth transition. Although Mom has resisted our efforts so far, we know [name removed]will be our first call if she changes her mind.

The meals at Rock Creek are just okay, kind of bland but they do offer plenty of activities for us residents to participate in which is nice. I would recommend this community to others.

I'm happy here. It is very friendly with a lot of nice people. The staff are very nice. It is a comfortable place to be with people that are really good to you. The food is not consistent, the menus sometimes aren't as healthy as they could be. Overall, it needs better planning and better food.

We chose The Manor at Oakridge because of the combinations of what you got for the money, so it was definitely a good value in comparison to other places and they offer a lot. The apartment sizes here are just right for the needs. The staff definitely are very accommodating and understanding so there is a level of personal connection that helps you feel better about making these hard decisions. I would absolutely recommend to others looking

I like the Sheldon Oaks, and I love my studio apartment. They say it's even bigger then a one bedroom, so its very big. I also have a nice balcony. The staff members here are all very friendly, and they are starting to bring back the activities.

We chose Palmer Hills because of the value for the money, it was half of some others that we looked into. The apartment sizes here are great for what she needs. I do not think they have the services that my mom is needing, I think she is needing some more care. It is an older facility that is not super updated, but we have been happy with it. I would recommend them for more independent individuals.

The community is neat and clean and the staff is great and very friendly. The food variety and taste could be better. I like to see more seasoning. I would recommend this community to others based on my experience

Overall, they're very friendly here. They seem helpful. I've only been here a few months. The apartment is fairly nice, but not a lot of detail. It's just there, like land. They're supposed to clean the bathrooms and kitchens once a week, but I've been lucky if they come every other week. I don't participate in too many activities, but they're okay. Mostly because I'm not interested. I'm active enough as it is.

We chose Maple Downs at the time because it had the first opening available. My aunt has a 1 bedroom and it is big enough for her, she needs more care so it's tight with a caregiver in here. It is a very beautiful place, I think the social activities would appeal to most people. They have recently stopped serving breakfast for the residents. I would recommend to others who are looking.

Our loved one enjoys the fact that in the building they offer therapy, and that the PA comes there which is convenient. We really like the location, but they could make a lot of improvements with meals. All of the staff members have been great, we love them they work well with everyone with their individuals needs which can be a tall task. It is a clean environment and they did an excellent job during the covid pandemic.

Our family had an in person tour experience and it was great. We were able to see many different rooms, they were all well kept and no fowl smells. We actually preferred the people here as far as the administrative staff team then the community our loved one is out now, but the location was not going to work for us.

Our loved one is not the biggest fan of the food, but that is because they aren't wanting to eat healthy. The activities are opening back up, and we do think the value for cost is good. We would recommend the Valencia Common's to others.

overall i am very satisfied with this community, the staff is kind and friendly. Communication is good between the staff and our family. They keep us well informed and up to date. I would recommend this community to others based on my experience.

We chose Maple Downs because the facility is more attractive than some others that we saw and it has nice grounds outside and places for residents to walk. The overall experience of it was just better. My mother is in a studio and it is efficient for what she needs. The only issue we had is we moved in during covid so we did not get a very good introduction. I suggest they have residents who currently live there who can be mentors to the new people moving in to help them navigate. I would recommend to others looking.

We chose Crystal View Lodge because when we toured my mom was immediately taken with the apartment itself. She is in a 1 bedroom apartment and It is a good size, she is very happy with it. I would absolutely recommend to others looking.

What really stood out to us was the friendliness of the staff members. We have seen a few of the rooms they provide for the residents and they would be about a four out of five. Due to the restrictions the activities are still pretty limited.

The staff overall is very caring, and they go out of their way to try and make the residents happy and comfortable. If there are any issues, they certainly try to resolve them. The food looks very good. The place is clean, and they make an effort to keep surfaces clean. Because of Covid, they haven't been doing some of the activities. But as far as I know, the residents have all been vaccinated now, and they're getting back to activities. It looks like they have a full calendar of things to do, and a bus to take the residents on outings. So there's plenty to do if they want to join in. I would definitely recommend The Manor at Woodside.

We chose Willow Gardens at the time because of the price, but it does keep going up so that is an issue. I think a lot of the staff has changed since he moved in. The food has no flavor and they need to offer more variety, that is her main complainant. I do think that they should offer some care to hire in to help and not put so much stress on the family. Based on our experience I would recommend to others looking.

Beautiful community. Too pricey for my father. Lot of fees. Lots of happy seniors.
