Holiday by Atria

Someone asked me yesterday about The Lodge, and I told them to check it out, especially for the money. We looked around, and the amount we're paying is on the lower end of senior care in Connecticut. So I feel it's a good value for the cost. They even have free cable and wifi here, which we couldn't believe. They just changed ownership in the last few weeks from Holiday to Atria. They've kept the same staff on, and they're going through training now. They sent a letter out to the residents letting them know of the changes. So we'll see. With new management there's gotta be changes at some point. So far my loved one has liked it here. They keep the place clean. The staff are very friendly. They always ask about her if they haven't seen her recently. My loved one doesn't participate in the activities, but they were definitely offering them pre-Covid, and they would take the residents on outings on the bus. I believe they're still taking individuals to doctor appointments on the bus.

They are trying to open up more activities for the residents to participate in, and our loved one is a picky eater so the food could be slightly improved but overall it is good. The staff member are awesome, we could recommend Echo Ridge community to others. So far we have been very pleased.

We toured this community and it was really nice. The virtual tour was good and they answered all our questions and gave us lots of great info.

We chose Thornton Place because she at the time was more independent and could get out and run errands and not be stuck. It was also a little cheaper than others we looked into. My mom had a 1 bedroom apartment and they are good size with a decent sized bathroom. The staff are very helpful and I would recommend them.

The room was a little smaller than we were looking for. The staff is great and care seemed to the be the same way.

They do have really great staff members there, they are extremely friendly. They are starting to bring back the activities, the residents can play bingo and they have had a few outside people come in to do things with the residents. They also have a bus services to take them to and from places.

The community was ok but too pricey. It just didn't fit our needs.

We chose Victorian at McKenzie because of the close location as well as the cost was reasonable based on a lot of other places we looked into. The apartment sizes are excellent, my mother has a studio and it is one of the larger ones and it is just a little smaller than some of the 1 bedrooms. They do have a weekly menu and they are chef prepared meals on site, my mom really enjoys them. The staff is very accommodating and they have an outdoor vising space in the front and back for guests to visit their loved ones. I would recommend to others looking.

This would be a good place for anyone looking. Communication is good as far as I know. I would recommend this community to others The community is neat

Very nice, very pleasant. The monthly fee is a bit intimidating for someone who will be living by himself and preparing most of his own meals. Still, the place has good vibes and is worth considering.

Be prepared to give up your whole paycheck. I think it's been good for my loved one to be around other adults his age, and he's made some friends here. Activities have been shut down due to Covid. As a standard, assisted living communities raise their rates higher than Social Security benefits go up, but we haven't had a renewal at Summerfield yet. So we'll see how things go. The staff has really been good to him here.

There's a [fee removed] one-time hidden charge that was never brought up to us that takes care of the grounds and such. It's completely non-refundable, and we didn't know about it until we received our first bill. You can pay in up to three increments. It's difficult to rate during Covid. The food was good when we first moved in, but then it wasn't very good. They told us they could adjust her diet plan, as it was difficult for her to chew, but mostly she just couldn't eat. It was very clean, and very nice. The cost was in line with others but still seemed somewhat high. The sales lady never brought that charge up, nor did she come to say hello on our move-in date. She was not interested in being very friendly once she sold us. The receptionist was great though, always very pleasant. And the director was pretty good, up until I asked for part of that [fee removed] charge back. I feel like my loved one would have loved it here were it not for Covid.

It is a decent place. The pandemic put a damper on things. My loved one is planning on staying here, and they have made friends in the community. The communication is good with the staff. There has been a change in administration during the pandemic. The food compared to the brochure, is only mediocre. The quality of salads should be green and not white lettuce.

It is really good, except for the food. I believe they are having diff with their chef and there is a problem with the food. The transportation is good and the manager is available to speak to. anytime I have questions. I would like to see more activities for the residents. There is one class for exercise a day, it would be nice to have several times throughout the day for the residents.

There has been a lot of changes since the pandemic. They are not offering rides anymore so my dad is driving when he should not. The food quality has decreased and my dad is unhappy with that. They have also had a lot of turnover in staff and management since he has been here. He does have a lot of friends and he enjoys his time here. They check in on him and help with with a lot of things, so he is definitely happier here than when he was at home. They have had very little cases of covid here so they have done a great job with protecting their staff and residents. They do try their best and I would recommend them to others looking.

[name removed] was wonderful, very friendly and helpful. The apts are a little small but nice, the building and grounds are beautiful. This is the one place where a group of the residents engaged with Mom and me... Very nice people... Sadly, Mom feels its too far from where she is now.

We do feel like the community is very clean, and for the most part our loved one is enjoying the food. The activities were originally cancelled due to covid, they were able to bring them back for a little bit, but then someone tested positive so they were cancelled again. We do think the value is really good.

Go and check out this community. My loved one is happy in this community. The communication is good and they return calls in a timely manner. I would recommend this community to others. The community is clean and neat. They are anxious for activities to resume and eager to socialize.

The community is very warm and friendly. They try to do as much as they can. Communication between the family and the staff is very good and they are very prompt keeping us up to date. I would recommend this community to others

Good place, the food isn't as great as we were lead to believe. The communication with the staff is excellent. They are quick to follow up. The room is beautiful and there is an option for patios and balconies. It is not considered a nursing community or home. This did create some hurdles with VA benefits.
