Pros: A wide variety of activities, excellent care, and very helpful staff with clear communication. Cons: Prices have increased over the past two years.

Everyone I meet is Pleasant but the staff is limited and somewhat incompetent.

They have a wonderful, welcoming staff. Clean, but not spic and span. The room is newly painted and with new carpet. I would recommend this community to others.

Somethings we like most about Holiday Devonshire Estates is the socializing activities and going where you want.

There is a wonderful walking path that circles the building. It is 1/4 miles when completing a walk around. Many residents take advantage of this. There are activities (exercise, crafts, bible study, church, card games, puzzles, and bingo). They facilitate time to be together and it is easy to form relationships. The resident's van is available for trips to doctor appointments and shopping.

Staff is very friendly. They remember names and Always have a smile on their faces. We have a 2 bedroom and the room is good. Amenities are great. The only thing they should be sure people understand is WiFi is not included.

The facility was top-notch. However, my mother wants to stay in a different area. I'm still keeping this on the back burner.Just in case

Staff is caring and professional. Our family member now requires more care support that an independent retirement home, understandably, is not obliged to give. Communication in the evening is difficult as there is only one evening porter. Overall, we've been happy but are now facing hard decisions for the near future.

Touring Holiday Columbia Pines was a very pleasant experience. There is some refurbishment happening at the moment, but what is already finished is very nice. The location is what might be an obstacle for me, but it will remain on my list of possibilities for the future. [name removed]

This is a very safe place to be very quiet. The staff is wonderful. The only negative is that the food could be better I've been here for two years in a cottage. My husband passed away and I still want to be here. Thank you for Aspen View.

The facility provided more a sense of an apartment building than a community. It did not feel very welcoming, more like a business than a home setting. The rooms were spacious enough, but it appeared to lack the updated ammenities the [community removed] appeared to have.

Sheldon Oaks is an active senior living environment wit friendly staff. The rooms are adequate and we found a ground floor room with an outdoor exit that would serve well for us with our dog.

The staff is very nice and helpful, especially the gentleman who provides rides to appointments. The maintenance guy seems responsive and has helped me several times with problems. The food could be better. It was fine at the beginning of my stay, and then the chef broke his foot and it's not working. The assistant chef fell and hurt himself, and he's not there so the food is wanting along with the fact that the event has broken down and they could only make certain things right now. The food could use some descriptions because there are things like Santa Fe soup or trio salad that you don't know what they are unless you ask, and then they're not always sure it would be nice to see them or at least have a description. Housekeeping is fairly good. They don't know how to make a bed properly but that's because I'm a little fussy they do vacuum but don't move anything even if a dog toys in the middle of the room they won't pick it up and move it so they could vacuum so I have to be sure it's completely clear before they come. Activities seem to be pretty good. I have gone to one craft activity on. I've been to catholic communion services all of which you're fine. I haven't had a lot of time to go to activities yet because I was unpacking and rearranging so much. The activities director is real enthusiastic and our things to do almost all the time. Hope this helps I appreciate your help finding this place. It is actually going to be good once Pitt gets back from rehab. She was there for a short time and really loved it, but I need her to be back in order to really enjoy it again thank you so much for your help. I would've never found this place.

They are in a huge management transition so it's been worse than I expected. No program director. My mom goes to things on the schedule and no one is there. The shuttle hasn't been working so my mom had to push for a private ride, It is just a mess.

Overall, the experience has been good. One of the biggest positives is the community shuttle, which runs multiple times a week. The location is also very convenient — it’s about a five-minute drive to two grocery stores, a Target, a bookstore, and a pet store. In terms of cleanliness, the facility is generally well maintained. I rarely notice any unpleasant odors, and if I do, it’s hard to tell whether it’s coming from a patient or from one of the many residents on the first floor who have mobility issues and use service animals. The staff is friendly for the most part, though I don’t see them very often. While the facility itself is well cared for, resident engagement seems limited. I rarely see residents participating in events unless it’s a major holiday. There is a craft room, a library with books, and scheduled movie days, but these spaces are often empty or only attended by a handful of people. It’s difficult to fully understand why, though it does seem that many residents don’t push themselves to participate beyond shared mealtimes. Meals are another area that can be challenging. Residents are given only a one-hour window to eat, and they must arrive during the scheduled serving time. I’m not sure if this is standard across similar facilities, but it has been difficult for my mother, who is on medication that prevents her from adjusting her meal schedule. As a result, she doesn’t eat dinner with the community. This is something the facility is aware of, and new residents often struggle to adjust. There have also been ongoing concerns about the lack of variety in meals, as the same dishes tend to be repeated. When it comes to activities, more options would be appreciated. While I’m not an expert in this area, I had hoped my mother would experience a stronger sense of community. Unfortunately, I now better understand why senior housing is often described as a lonely experience. Internet is not included in the care package, and housekeeping consists of a very light monthly wipe-down of the unit, which feels minimal and somewhat unnecessary. Overall, the value for the money is reasonable compared to other options we considered, but there are clear areas where improvements could be made.

They were accommodating, kind and helpful.

Note that my brother has found it taxing to adjust, both socially and to the idea of living in a senior home instead of his former independence in his own apartment, so some of this score is due to his state of mind. He is also 10-15 years younger than the average age of other residents. Quality of Care is a 5 but note that aides for medication reminders, light housekeeping, and weekly laundry are extra through third party onsite providers -- they have been great. Admin staff are very friendly and on top on things. The food is not tailored to individual medical needs, e.g. low sugar, etc. My brother feels many of the activities are "hokey" or otherwise un-engaging, though he has begun participating in some of the exercise and yoga classes - there are no forums for political or other kinds of discussion, for instance. Overall, this is a really nice facility -- I would recommend it without hesitation.

Management is really good. There's been just a few little delays on getting extra keys and changing a light fixture. The light cleaning could be improved a little they don't move anything and with old people they place things in the way of things that need to be cleaned for example the chairs around the table where they eat could be moved so you could vacuum underneath for any food crumbs as well around the toilet and shower area things are dropped or in the way so it isn't cleaned like it should be. They do the sheets and towel laundry once a week, but a few times the towels have been brought back wet and left in the basket or put away in the closet wet. I think management is super. The manager the sales manager and the maintenance guy are all very friendly and very helpful. Everyone at the facility is really wonderful. My parents seem to enjoy the activities and it's good for them to get out of their room. The apartment is decent and not a bad size. They might've liked a little more room, but I think it's worked out quite nicely. They have a lot of well lit windows, which brings a lot of light into the room which is great. They also allow three different care facilities on site and they have been phenomenal as well. Overall, I would recommend this place for sure. They seem to keep everything pretty tidy and offer a lot of different things for the residence

The manager - [name removed] was very kind and helpful. I really appreciated her caring attitude. Also, I hear the food is good. The staff was also very kind. [name removed] the activities director was meeting up with my sister in law the day she arrived to find out her interests. The building is clean and beautiful!
