Traditions of Hanover has become my mother's new home. She is almost 89 and every time we talk to her, she is almost giddy with excitement about the amenities, the friendly staff, and the meals. We had the unfortunate experience of moving her in as the Covid19 pandemic was beginning but the staff made a difficult situation into a calm and pleasant experience. The staff took care to ensure the safety of the existing residents by restricting the movers to staying outside. The Traditions staff brought ALL of her furniture and belongings into her new unit. They were more than accommodating and helpful. Every aspect of the move, including a lovely welcome basket, was such a positive and pleasant experience for [name removed]. My mother hasn't even had the pleasure yet of enjoying the usual culture and environment that exists without a quarantine, and she already loves Traditions. The caring culture is truly apparent throughout the building. She is already thrilled by the current limited activities, with social distancing, that Traditions is providing and she is really looking forward to enjoying the expanded schedule of activities that is the norm. Recently, a staff member facilitated a Skype call for [name removed], who was able to enjoy a face to face conversation with her daughter and granddaughter in Switzerland. [Name removed] routinely comments on the helpfulness of the staff and the friendliness of the residents. It's apparent that the residents are happy and well cared for. It has quickly become her home. We feel good about the choice our family made after careful consideration of other local Independent Living alternatives. Thank you Traditions of Hanover!

Although the Covid-19 Pandemic prevented us from making our final decision on a Senior Community to commit to, WE WERE most impressed by Traditions of Hanover overall, [name removed] and his Staff! In our visit we experienced: The Staff, Facility, Residents, Resident Programs, Dining Facilities, Resident Activity Programs, Care Management, resident morale, general atmosphere and morale! If first impressions are the most accurate, our feelings are BEST EXPRESSED in a very famous family movie: "OH AUNTIE EM, there's NO PLACE LIKE HOME [T of H]! P.S.: Please be sure to speak to [name removed] and his staff; tireless caring special people!

My family and I want to say "THANK YOU" for everything the staff has done for my mom and the other residents at TOH during this horrible pandemic. We are so appreciative of all the hard work involved in keeping all the residents safe and occupied. The entire staff has gone above and beyond what anyone could expect. The entire staff is so kind and caring. Each staff member relates to each of the residents on a personal level. The pandemic is scary and it is a comfort to know that my mom and the other residents are in such capable hands. Thank you again and I hope to be able to see all of you soon.

My Mom has been living at Traditions for 10 years. Everyone there, both staff & residents, are like family. The staff & residents are on a first name basis & concerns are addressed within 24 hours. The Team/Staff put residents first, & this was especially noticeable during Covid 19. The Team was proactive & the facility was locked down immediately, with the residents receiving both meals in their apartments twice a day, along with afternoon snacks. They did their best to entertain & keep the resident's minds from worry. The location is in a semi-private setting with staff on site 24 hrs. everyday throughout the year. There is lots of space for walking both indoors & out. The activities are too numerous to list, including weekly trips to stores & banks. Also offered onsite: Visiting doctors, hairdressers, clergy, entertainers, physical therapists, & aides offering assistance (at reasonable rates). Dogs & cats are also welcome. The facility is clean & apartments cleaned weekly. The meals are Delicious!! Also found is a library, game room, theater, fireside lounge & bar. It is reassuring that our loved ones are in a secure environment & enjoying life to the fullest cruising at Traditions!!

My father moved to Chestnut Knoll in March of 2018. He had been living in independent living and it became very apparent that he would need to go to assisted living. He had become withdrawn and had lost about ten pounds. He moved in on a Tuesday and by Friday he had already been out on a trip with his new "friends" to a local restaurant. I looked at the pictures of him on the facility's social media page and I saw a smile on his face that I had not seen in about six months. He was happy to be out socializing with people his own age. The facility always made outings easy. When my father used a walker they would help him gently onto the van and when he required a wheelchair they wheeled him right up. There are many activities to choose from but my father enjoyed his privacy. He would pick and choose what he wanted to attend but one of his favorites was men's club that met every Tuesday. Chestnut Knoll brings in outside entertainment, local school groups and local bands regularly. My father would attend and if the concerts were at night for the community I would come and attend with him. His room was clean, bright and cheery. The housekeeping staff was wonderful. His room never looked messy. When my father first came he was able to use his walker to get to meals and activities. As the months went on he required a wheelchair. He suffered a major heart attack in May of 2019. This was one of many he had suffered since the year 2000. His cardiologist recommended he receive hospice services. We talked about this with my dad who was in agreement. He did not want to spend his last days going in and out of hospitals he wanted to stay at his new home Chestnut Knoll. With the help of Caring Hospice and Chestnut Knoll workers together we were able to keep dad at his "home" and he passed away peacefully surrounded by his familiar furniture and pictures of his family. The caregivers were just that-they cared and treated him like a family member. The food was very good. My dad's favorite meal was breakfast. I always spent a lot of time with my dad so I really saw day to day how things ran in the facility. There was always plenty of staff available. My father made many friends among the caregivers and the residents. He was visited weekly by a therapy dog and looked forward to those visits every week. When my father passed he was four months shy of 92 years old. I will miss him every day but he was able to spend his last two years comfortable, well cared for and happy. I never worried about his care. I would recommend Chestnut Knoll to anyone looking to place a loved one who is in need of assisted living.

My father was a resident of Chestnut Knoll from March of 2018 until he passed away on Sunday [date removed]. My father had been at an independent senior living facility an hour away from me. After almost four years he began to struggle and it became apparent that he would need to be at an assisted living facility. We moved him in on a snowy Tuesday in March. By Friday of that same week he was already out on a van trip eating out at a restaurant. The care at Chestnut Knoll was exceptional. The aids have wonderful training. They are caring and compassionate and answer call bells timely. I truly felt like my father was part of a big family there. My father continued to enjoy the many outings in the van especially the trips to restaurants. Fox therapy is available at Chestnut Knoll and they encourage the residents to be as ambulatory as possible but to also be safe. They continuously work with residents offering many exercise programs. Once a week they have "men's club" where all the men in the facility can meet and socialize! My dad loved to attend and it made him feel like part of the community. I was able to keep my father at Chestnut Knoll until the end. His heart just was old and tired. But, every step of the way I felt that he was supported, loved and well taken care of. He passed with dignity in his sunny room surrounded by pictures of his loved ones. I would recommend this facility to anyone who needs assisted living for their loved one.

I am beyond pleased with the quality of care my sister in-law, a resident in Arlington Court, memory care unit is receiving. She is dressed nicely each day, even with a touch of make up, and her room is organized and clean. The staff is very sensitive to her physical and mental capabilities and assist her with warmth and gentleness. They also encourage her participation in activities suitable to her---All of this gives her dignity in her failing years. It is very comforting and satisfying to see this loving care

The facility is outstanding and the food is also outstanding. The Executive Director is very much personally involved in all aspects of the operation. [date removed] My father was diagnosed with late-onset Alzheimer's. It became clear after a few months that I could not provide the care that he needed. I could not be there 24 hours a day, nor did I have the medical knowledge or patience that is so necessary. He would no longer be safe at home. I was fortunate to find Chestnut Knoll. I confess that I looked at other facilities, but on balance Chestnut Knoll seemed to be the best fit and had what my Dad needed. Other facilities my have been bigger, but I knew he would never take advantage of any of those extra features. I would soon learn that the facility is only a small part of the picture. By far the most invaluable feature of Chestnut Knoll is that it is staffed by patient, knowledgeable, compassionate people. As his condition worsened, 24 hour care was required, so naturally I turned to the affiliated company Chestnut Knoll at Home. Again it was an unexpected pleasure to find a collection of dedicated folks who looked after my Dad as if he was a part of their family. As with the resident staff, each caregiver has their own style and personality, but each was conscientious and kind. He became increasingly withdrawn, but responded when the caregivers began referring to him as “Uncle [name removed]”. This had originally been used by only a few close nieces and nephews, but somehow it connected and he could be drawn back to a certain degree of lucidity. We could again get a glimpse of the man he once was. I would be remiss if I did not mention the Caring Hospice organization. Brought to my attention by the Chestnut Knoll staff, Caring Hospice provided an additional level of support for my Dad and me. They were always on top of his changing condition and made the necessary adjustments to keep him comfortable. I must admit to receiving a lot of comfort myself from the quiet, caring chats I had with their nurses, social worker and Chaplain. I will always remember one particularly bad day. I had maintained my composure just long enough to get out of my Dad's room and make it a few steps down the hall. Several of the busy Chestnut Knoll staff saw my distress and gave me the encouragement and then the space I needed to pull myself together. The staff stepped up to not just caring for the resident, but the entire family. Many times I would come home and tell my wife how happy I was to find a facility like Chestnut Knoll and organizations like Chestnut Knoll at Home and Caring Hospice. These folks allowed me to leave my Dad and sleep well knowing that he was in good hands. I don't have words to express how precious a gift that is. With utmost gratitude, I THANK YOU ALL and hope that perhaps I will be so lucky as to benefit from such compassionate care when I take my turn. With best regards, [[name removed]

Two things stand out about this community. The first is that the residents (even in Assisted Living) are very spry. mentally sharp, extremely friendly and seems very happy (more so than any other retirement community I've ever visited). I'm not sure if that is due to selective admission standards or the atmosphere and quality of life in the community (or possibly both, although the marketing director assures me it is the latter as the residents are highly encouraged to be active). The other big plus was the Colonial inspired decor in the common areas. It isn't everyone's cup of tea but if, like me, you go for that sort of thing, it a definite selling point. Don't be scared by the expense. The rent is a little high in comparison to other facilities in Assisted Living but the prices on level of care are much lower than other places visited and just about make up the difference so that total expenses are comparable to other communities in the area.

I have had family members in both the memory care unit and assisted living off and on for over the past 5 years. The care given to my family member residents as well as our family has been wonderful. The staff is so very kind and friendly. They have gone over what is asked of them to provide a comfortable home as well as interesting activities. Their outside care givers such as hospice and rehab are equally good. I have nothing but positive feedback and am very grateful for my experiences with them.

His room was clean and tidy, laundry was done every morning and returned folded nice and neat the same day. Cleaning was performed daily. The food was very good, with plenty being served. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Medication was given appropriately and with consideration to his specific needs. Very inviting atmosphere all the way around.

My mother spent the last 19 months of her life at Chestnut Knoll, after we transferred her from another facility. Their memory care facilities are head and shoulders above everything else we checked out in the area. Their programs keep the residents engaged all day and the variety of programs they offered was really impressive. The staff there were wonderful to all the patients, always calling them by name and always ready with a smile. I feel like my mother was truly surrounded by loving care during her time there. The staff also supported us through the last days of her life. I would highly recommend this facility for anyone looking for memory care for their loved one. We knew the minute we took the tour introducing us to the unit that it was something special.
