I had a good tour of this community. It was a nice experience, and everyone was very kind to my family, and myself. The community looked good, everything appeared to be well maintained. The staff was kind, and friendly. There was many factors that played into where to place my parents. Unfortunately this was not the community for them, and their needs

This is a very nice community , and they have been good work with . My mother recently passed away , but they are trying their best to help my father adjust , and take care of (1)his (2)needs . We are working together to see what is best for my father , and his needs . I do really like the staff , and they have helpful , and kind . The food is wonderful . He is a nice size unit , and everything looks good . It is a still a work in progress , but overall I would recommend this community

The community has fit my loved one's needs so far. The staff is very friendly but could sometimes use some improvement in the communication. They don't always get back to me right away. My loved one has really enjoyed the open concept at this place. He also likes taking walks especially to the dollar store next door to the facility. The meals are good I haven't tried them myself but I have also heard no complaints from him so far.

The staffing seemed poor during our tour of Heritage. There seemed to be a slight odor and it did not look real clean when we walked in. This community did not seem to work for mom.

I liked the place it was nice, but they didn't handle her very well. They could have handled things a little differently. It seems like they wanted to keep upping her medications. I think it would be better for someone who is a little more docile.

She hasn't been there that long, but they are not fully staffed. It seems like they are still learning their roles and getting established since it's a new place. There is room for improvement. What they do right now is put the memory care residents with the assisted living residents for some activities, but not all, and I think the improvement needs to come in that if a resident needs less assistant than others, it would be nice to be able to participate with the apartment side for some activities. They really need more time to get the place really running. It's new, so things are in pretty good shape, but when it comes to the people cleaning my mom's room, that needs improvement.

This place seems okay. My dad has Alzheimer's and lives there. I picked this place because it seemed like some of the residents were still walking around and talking. I haven't seen any activities yet. They just sit and watch t.v. and the screen is small and the volume is low so I don't know how elderly people could enjoy that. I think if they had more engaging activities he might do more. I haven't tasted it, but the food looks pretty good. The initial appearance is really good. It was really clean and new - they do a great job of marketing but in the end it's no different than the other places. They all seem like they try to get by without doing much for the people that live there. My dad was disappointed that you have to take such small rooms because of the cost.

This is a clean looking place. Every staff person who sticks around is consistent, but quality of interactions is inconsistent. Most of the problems are due to understaffing so some staff are too busy to be friendly or can’t remember concerns. [names removed] are wonderful long term staff. Some of the new staff since January are promising. They are doing their best under conditions of understaffing. They need at least one more staff person per shift. Some of the people who brings medications to residents in their apartment could be more friendly, interactive and do their jobs better by talking to residents, especially the isolated old ladies and men who stay in their apartments all the time. Staff could use more training on developmental Issues for aging and elderly. Most of the staff are very patient but none of the staff except activities director and her assistant pay attention to community building. They are too busy because they are understaffed.

[removed name] was pleasant and helpful. The staff seemed friendly. There was a strong unpleasant aroma when we arrived that seemed to be emanating from an old mop which was being used to clean the floors. The facility otherwise appeared clean.

I would not recommend and feel like they told us what we wanted to hear and then once we were in the door things changed. Close to family and allowed pets.

They should screen tenants background because some can be very rude and ignorant and disrespectful

They didn't have the personal I felt they needed to handle mom's issues. They tried, just not enough help. I think that's an issue most places these days. Ended up taking her home where I could kept better eyes and nearer to her to help reaction her mobility needs. Because of her mobility issues and dementia she didn't know she needed help to get up and move around making her a fall risk. With the restrictions placed on care facility's they couldn't do a lot to keep her safer and less at risk of falling.

Looking back, getting to know the staff right away is very important.

The facility is amazing the apartments are about the same in all facilities. I know because I checked out many. Staff are all wonderful but I did not find them very helpful unless you give them control of everything like showering and drugs and dressing

Overall my wife would like us to be able to sleep together at night. We have been happily married for 52 ysr. She has dementia and cannot understand why no facilities in wi. Don't allow us to live together in an apartment of 900 sqfgt.

It was a beautiful facility, very new and clean. But the place is WAY too big. My mom was never given any opportunities to walk with her walker, dining room was way too far from her room. She had multiple falls, and wasn't getting a bath or hair washed often enough. My mom never once was asked if she wanted to attend any activities, she did not get a monthly sheet of activities, or meals. She was basically in her room in her recliner with her door shut all day. She was not able to walk unassisted, as she falls frequently. The only time she saw other people was at meals. She absolutely hated the food.

I would not recommend unless you are willing and able to spend a lot of time and energy physically being present to be able to advocate for your loved one. In other words, fairly, and sadly, typical of care these days.

Overall the experience diminished over the 2 years my mom was there. Turnover in staff was a big issue. The new staff didn't know my mom very well and my mom was drugged up for a while before we took some action. The activities directors came and went every 2 months or so. In the beginning I would give all 4 and 5s but at the end 1 and 2s. That's why many are 3s.

Very large, corporate for-profit facility. High staff turnover rate-often understaffed due to employees not showing up for work. Main areas clean, hallways, dining areas need attention. Good activities. The only consistent staff member was [name removed] who has been at Heritage for years and is excellent -overworked and underpaid for all she contributes-she know every resident personally and is so helpful. Heritage is extremely expensive -moved to a smaller facility with a room 2x the size, better level of care from daily caregivers for over [fee removed] less per month. I would recommend for anyone seeking living arrangements for a senior who does not have any needs-can live independently just needs the added supervision/medication management. Facility has tons to offer and is a great location. For seniors who need more care/assistance I wouldn't recommend-too inconsistent staffing and very low level of care. [name removed] is the activities director there and goes WAY above and beyond her role helping others, checking in on everyone-she genuinely cares-she is the only person still there 8 months after we moved in/all other staff left-not all replaced-no Social Worker, no RN hired on site when se left-no idea who to contact when there's a problem bc staff turnover at administrative level as well. Again, for independent seniors it is a lovely place , clean, nice amenities and much to do.

I will not recommend Heritage to anyone in the future High turnover of staff and management makes care very inconsistent. The good staff that cares and does their job leaves after short time while the ones that sit around and are constantly on their phones are the ones that stick around. Menus are mostly processed foods with very little effort to include fresh fruits and vegetables. Not the most nutritious menu they could be serving. Staff has not been consistent with following the care plan for [name removed] and it has lead to falls and injuries that could have been prevented. [name removed] is now on state assistance and that has us now looking to them to help improve the situation.
