Heritage Senior Living

We toured 5 different facilities and chose Heritage Middleton because of the very nice interaction with the employee who called us. Also, the Heritage is almost brand new, it is very nice looking and inviting. It seems they offer quite a few activities but it is too soon to be able to accurately rate them.

The place was clean and safe appearing. need to see an assisted living apartment to give full opinion (only saw independent apartment).

I would give Heritage West Allis 4. [name removed] was very helpful. We were able to place my mother-in-law within weeks. Move in went smoothly.

I like that the floor plans were the same in both assisted living and memory care for ease of transition. I found the atmosphere a bit sterile. I saw a few staff members sitting and on their phones while waiting for residents trickling in for lunch. When I asked about a gluten free diet, I was told that if a resident didn’t want the main dish being served, they could always order a chef salad (this was the response twice). Overall, it appeared friendly and clean, but probably not what my loved one needs.

Room size was great for her and cleanliness was good. Staff activities was more than adequate, varied and often customized for individuals. Meals were satisfactory but several times the food was not warmed or chilled properly. The trays were prepared well in advance and stored in insulated compartments for 1- 1 1/2 hours before serving. Staffing was often short. On several occasions, in her short, stay I had to visit the administrative office to report that staff would not answer her room request for assistance. The administrator assured that they would attend to this problem but... The medical staff were very responsive and professional when I met with them weekly. Overall the experience was good with the exception of short staffing.

I would say a 41/2 because nothing is perfect but pretty darn good. Very clean place , staff is helpful and always say hello. The room size was very nice and private. Activities are everyday which is nice for people and gives them different choices if you don't like one try another. Dad lived with us for 6 months , we realize with a place like heritage it would have been better for him to go there. It was a really good choice for us.

Was some lack of communication initially as when shower day and wash days are from staff. Many activities and good staff to initiate. Housekeeping every week does good. Food 75%. Monthly meeting for complimentary and complaining. Replacing some furniture that is necessary. Accepts requests. Showers would be better if larger. Content to live here.

Quality of the meals has been an issue! Staff has been awesome! I would recommend this facility to others! Just try to get the meals to a higher standard!

My mom lives in the enhanced assisted care unit. The staff is very jovial and fun, but sometimes they joke around a little too loudly amongst themselves. for the most part they do a great job. Mom is on a pescatarian diet and we've been unhappy with the alternative choices other than meat. Meat or fish is served at every meal, but if she doesn't want the meat, she has substitutions of only chef salad, grilled cheese sandwich or a tuna fish sandwich. I wish they could be a little more creative in there non-meat entrées.

It is a good place. The high staff turnover is a concern, but overall, it is a safe and decent place to live

I would rate each category 4. I am happy with Heritage, as is my Mom. Staff is friendly and most seem to care about the residents and are patient with those requiring a higher level of care. The facility is always clean, food is good, and most of the residents seem to enjoy the activities. I also enjoy the activities they have for the families to join. I would recommend Heritage Court in Waukesha.

I didn't have an opportunity to work with Aspire over time, but my experience was mostly positive. If things were different, I am confident we would have addressed my concerns. I should be clear ... my experience was likely unusual. Mom's health declined dramatically in a short period of time, which caught us all by surprise. Someone else would likely have a better experience whose loved one's needs hadn't changed so dramatically and so quickly. Good schedule and variety of activities. Very helpful and friendly staff.

The staff at Aspire Oshkosh are friendly and helpful when asked questions/clarifications.

Make sure they assist the resident correctly. We chose Heritage Court because it was close to me and the safety equipment. Also it was, is memory care. I think the rooms are alright, some are larger than others. Including a shower in the room, which my mom didn't get one, even though I asked for one. They have a little store and get, heritage bucks they can spend there. They have a nice patio during the summer. They also have special celebrations for the resident and families. Not sure what amenities they have..

Meals were often prepared well in advance and therefore cold. Several times staff were delayed in answering calls to her room. Otherwise, the staff were professional and friendly. Whenever the staff noted a problem with my mother I would receive a prompt telephone call at anytime of the day or night.

Overall it has been a good experience and my mom seems happy there. However, there's one lady at the front desk that is always very rude to me and many times I have sent emails to the staff trying to get an update on my mom's condition and they typically never get back to me so the communication piece is not great.

Took several weeks before knowledge off when house keeping, laundry, garbage is picked up. Was told rides to Dr appt. was given but not true. Never met primary physician with Blue stone and how to get RX Some meals are bad. I do like it here but there’s communication problems with employees. Need better orientation

When it comes to the care services, they could be a little more attentive when pushing the call button. The activities does seem like they have quite a few things to do . Overall it's been going pretty good for my parents and we would recommend this community to other families.

I feel there is a lot of inconsistency, and it's sometimes difficult to get matters addressed. The activities director has done a lovely job of getting my mom to participate and be involved. Getting someone to clean a bathroom can be impossible, and getting someone to fix something broken in a room can be impossible as well.

Actually, my folks moved the end of August because my Mom needed memory care and they did not have a unit in memory care that would fit 2 people. Med passers and activities staff were very friendly. They enjoyed the live music.
