Food is delicious, a lot of activities to keep you busy, great movies, great management

After my wife passed away in 2014, I soon found out that I needed to live with others and not by myself. Desert Springs with its apartments, meal schedule, activities and caring attitude fit what I needed. Now it has been hour years and as long as I can afford it, I will stay here.

The most frequent comments I hear have to do with the food. For example, last evening the main dish was listed as “Shepherd’s Skillet”: it consisted of a small square of egg, potatoes, and red and green peppers, and strawberry jam that looked very pale and was very skimpy. (I can’t eat the peppers, so I had “cheesy scrambled eggs.”) The people at the table with me said the “skillet” and especially the jam were tasteless. Today at dinner we were served baked herb chicken. My piece was apparently a second joint (thigh), but if it had more than two ounces of meat on it, that would be a lot. I suppose you get the picture. Several people have observed that the servings seem to be getting smaller. As noted above, the most frequent complaint is tastelessness (I can’t comment on that because my sense of taste is very poor). On the whole, however, Paloma Landing has proved to be a good place for me to be instead of living alone.

I enjoy being at Alexis Estates. I feel like I am with family. People are friendly and caring. If ill, all friends check on you to be sure you have help you need. The staff here is one of a kind! Always ready to help here at all times. Food is plenty. What ever you want, they try to give you.

Enjoy meeting nice people, playing different games each day, oh! Yes, I really like the exercise each day. one thing I like here is there is someone to cook and clean for me. I am very happy here at Alexis Estates.

The staff is extraordinary, they remember everyone's favorite meals and are very efficient. The residents are also happy and helpful. I love this place!

Nice facility, residents are nice, staff very friendly and efficient. Apts not exactly what I was looking for and about the same price as american House without the kitchen and laundry facilities in each unit.

spoke with [name removed] today. She was very helpful and informative. I am a bit overwhelmed at this point but she was patient and helped me look at possibilities! I am hoping to take a tour in the near future after talking about this possible move with my son.

I have been at Salishan for 3 months now and am very impressed with it. It is clean, friendly, hands on management, and fairly good food menus. A resident can be as involved in activities as they would like to be. Management, two couples,is friendly and interactive with the residents, and since they live at Salishan, there is someone on duty 24 hours. I would recommend Salishan to any senior wanting a safe environment with the many amenities it offers.

[Name removed} was very knowledgeable and provided us with an excellent overview of the facility. She gave us all the information we need to make a decision.

Facility is clean, inviting, but has a parking problem. [Name removed] took us for a walkthrough. Rooms are small, but have lots of light. Good size balconies. Hallways are long; there is only one elevator. Prices are $3,025 and $3,375 for corner unit. $500 for second person. No fees for pets, although allowed. Tiny kitchenette. All utilities included.

My mom has been living at The Lodge of Wake Forest since April of 2018, and she loves it! At the age of 90, it's very important that she live in a safe, clean and friendly environment. She has all that and more: good-tasting meals, fun activities, transportation to her local doctor and lots of new friends. Thank you, A Place for Mom, for guiding us to the perfect place for our dear mom. We highly recommend your services. Since being thrifty is one of Mom's strong traits, we were thrilled that the cost of living at The Lodge was within her limited budget. Thanks, A Place for Mom, for being there when we needed you!

Southern Pines is an INDEPENDENT CARE Facility. It is Not Assisted Living. Home Services Available, at additional costs. They do well at what they they provide. Facility is clean and very pleasant and well appointed. Rooms are very nice, well lit, safe. Meals are reliable. Some menu items are not good. Staff is on site and very helpful and attentive when asked. Residents may have their own car. Bus services are good.

We moved here 2 months ago and found Desert Spring very friendly, healthy and willing to make you comfortable in your new home. The people here seem to be very friendly as well. The surroundings look very good and look like the building is very new. Even though we have be been here a short time, we feel our surrounds are very open for us and we are happy we live here we feel this is our home.

Large facility, motel/hotel like atmosphere. Many activities. Small frig in room no other appliances. Most showers have minimal step to enter. Willing to work with vegetarians.

Nothing wrong with this one except the price.

Stoneridge was very nice, clean and had a lot of amenities. My mother and I looked at this place yesterday. Personally it was my first time touring a retirement home. They have 3 sit down meals per day. However the one thing I didn't care for, is that you have to be there at an exact time every day. (Ex. Breakfast is at 8am) I thought they should at least have a time range. Although my mother didn't seem to mind. I also thought it was very expensive. 2300-2600k/mo for studio. 3100k/mo for 1 bedroom. Covers all utilities except phone and internet. We will keep looking.

Beautiful community, welcoming residents, great dining options, and wide variety of activities. We were frustrated after a 3 hour tour that we couldn't get a direct answer about rental rates.

Our 'tour guide', [name removed] was super. Friendly but not pushy. We liked that the facility is small, only 115 residents. And we like that there is sit down dining and not cafeteria style. The rooms are small and their isn't a kitchen other than a refrigerator and small counter. I would have to purchase a scooter as the two bedroom apartments are a very long way from the elevator. We didn't like the tub in the second bathroom, that just won't work for us. The search continues.
