During the sales process make sure any telephone calls or in person conversations are documented. During our sales meeting no packages were available so a few documents were put in the package given to us. We were contacted by phone and an incentive would be given if we signed the lease by [date removed]. Rent would be prorated when [name removed] moved.. We signed on [date removed removed]. We moved [name removed] in on [date removed]. [date removed] bill showed rent beginning [date removed] and level of care started [date removed]. Approached billing person said she had to go by info given to her. She would have to speak to [name removed] and [name removed]. Two weeks later nothing had been done. [name removed] says she doesn't know who the people are that come into her room. She doesn't know how to get in touch with the people there

Executive directorship has turned over 4 times in 10 months. Food Director and Serving staff has turned over 3 times in the past 10 months. Prices were raised by [removed] for this calendar year with only a 30 day notice. Housekeeping is not consistent and has also turned over 3 times in the past 10 months. Their Nursing staff is not consistent with notifying next of kin when residents are transported to the hospital as well and Nursing Director was also replaced in the past 10 months. There have also been issues of residents in Memory Care roaming the halls all hours with no oversight, ringing the doorbells of independent residents in the middle of the night and no follow-up the next day after it's reported to the front desk. My mom has made friends there and has little involvement with management. She likes her social life, wishes the food could offer more dietary choices, ie diabetic; low salt; replacements for main meals.

I would make my friend aware of the staff's high turnover rate and how that affected the communication problems between our family and the staff. Plus the prescription medications were not delivered or administered in a timely manner to our mom. Additionally I would suggest my friend make sure their mother or father is appropriately placed within the facility.Our mother required much more care than she received at Harmony and as her dementia progressed her care at Harmony seemed to decline in quality. My sister had to follow behind the care staff on a daily basis in caring for our Mom. It was very dissatisfying and frustrating.We chose Harmony for the close location to my sister's house and the initial promises and expectations conveyed to us by the then director who has since left the position.

The staff was very unprofessional. When speaking with me they would curse and talk about other patients. They were very rude to my grandfather although he wasn't the most pleasant to work with because he was in memory care they didn't treat him with respect. His room was always filthy. Someone was supposed to clean it once a week but it was always disgusting every time I visited with him. The smell was outrageous and he had blood/food/dried up feces on the floor. Tuna fish that was in his drawer (he was in memory care) that was left in there so long bugs were flying around it and it smelled like something died in his room. Anytime I addressed my issues with the Director over memory care she would always make excuses for the behavior instead of trying to correct the problem. I will never recommend this place to anyone! Absolutely horrid. This place is a complete nightmare Have more professional staff, treat residents in memory care with more respect, actually clean the rooms of residents and when issues arise and are discussed instead of making excuses, actually try to fix the problems

The facility is understaffed, especially on the weekends. I would recommend depending on what level of care the individual needs. If they're mainly self sufficient and can move around on their own, then yes I recommend them for the assisted living area. If they need any type of special care while in assisted living, then no. The memory care unit has more oversight and has been doing pretty well so far, so I would recommend the memory care unit

I have to be very hands - on to ensure my mother is getting the care that she needs. The leadership here has been very disappointing. They have all turned over so maybe it will get better. If someone is independent, this is probably is a great place, but my mom is not. My mother has to take all of her meals in her room so it is always cold. On top of that the ingredients are not fresh. Seems institutional.

Thye need to improve on, telling the truth when you put a loved one in your home. I was shown everything about assisted living. Nobody told me what you do with your memory care patients.

My initial reason for choosing Harmony was location.I wouldn't recommend a friend or family member going to Harmony's memory facility.

They just got a new director, so this is their last shot to get things in order or my mother will be moved. I have been complaining about her not getting 2 showers a week for two years. Each time I was told they were going to move her shower schedule from midnight shift to evening. They never changed her schedule. The new director has promised her has been moved to day shift scheduled. Sheets were not being changed except by myself. I was having to clean her bathroom myself at least once a week. Laundry not being put away, sheets not be folded. Soiled clothes being left in hamper to smell.

We toured Harmony at Spring Hill during our search for a facility for my loved one. My loved one didn't really like this facility and also was considering both Assisted Living and Independent Living. They don't have Independent Living at this facility and my loved one didn't like the Assisted Living here.

We toured with Harmony at Independence and The person (I can't remember her name) was too casual-didn't comfort our names or relationship with my Mom. A little scattered and all over the place. Seemed not as clean as [facility name removed] or as close to me and her doctors.

The staff was overworked; the food listed on the weekly menu was not always what was being served; it always took 10 minutes or more for someone to open the door; and they did not have enough cameras to visually see the residence at all times.

My loved one is a resident at Harmony at Waldorf. This facility has a lot of issues. They have limited activities for the residents because of the lack of staff. The food is terrible and cold most of the time.

Harmony is a great place. However, the staff has completely turned over. If l was rating the apartment I live in I would give it a 5, but I would rate the overall place a 2. It's really sad that it is in this situation. I think there mistake was not giving the department heads what they needed. And they all have left. They were here from the ground up. And they let them go. This beautiful place is running on. We no longer have house keeping. The dining room doesn't have enough people to cook or deliver the food on time. Our maintenance people left and we have a new guy that really doesn't know what he is doing. The new director really needs to read our contract. He is angry at the people who confront him about the lack of employees. And how much they are paying to live here. I know this is happening everywhere which is so sad. This is all the talk here. It really is a beautiful place. It just looks like its going to take a while. The people they hire either don't show up or they work one day and never come back. We have many empty apartments on all three floors. And people are still talking about moving.

They are very understaffed and ill trained, ie: not changing bandages from a wound, not using alcohol swabs to wipe his skin before giving insulin, Physical Therapy abruptly stopped helping my loved one after it took a week and a half to evaluate him, there has been feces all over the bathroom after they clean the bedpan, not a nurse on duty most of the time, etc. I would not recommend this facility for anyone that truly needs assistance.

The place is terrible!! Harmony of Elkhart is too new, and we were very disappointed in the care that we received.

My mother is a resident in assisted living at Harmony. There have been multiple problems since she moved in almost 12 months ago. There is constant staff turnover and staff shortages. Poor communication between staff and family. Recently found out that my mom's insurance was being billed by an outside agency. Harmony made the referral and provided my mom's personal information without notifying or gaining consent from family members who have power of attorney.

This facility provides bare minimum. YOU have to supply basic items that were usually included at most places. Bedding - shower curtain - diapers etc. If you don't give them access to your checking account, they charge an additional $[removed] for writing a check. (Initially they wanted $[removed]) Not a good experience. Get ready to order pull-ups from Amazon to deliver to your loved one. What a hassle... I guess this facility might be better if you live close by. ---So you could see your person daily to get them what they need.

My loved one does not like the food. They need to improve on, the communication, and answering the phones. They need to do better with understanding the patients, and the care that they need. I am not happy with this community. They have limited activites, and it would be nice if the residents, could get outside more. It's a beautiful community, and is in a great setting. They need additional staff.

It has been a nightmare. We have been there since December. The management, in particular the Nursing Director, has been very difficult to deal with. My loved one has dementia and he has not received the specific care he needs. They are short staffed and the morale of the nurses and caregivers are low because of the director. They need new management. It starts at the top and rolls downhill. No communication. It is very difficult to get someone to return calls. It is impossible to get anyone on the phone after 8 p.m. I would not recommend this place. We will be moving soon!
