My mother moved in to Harbor Chase in 2018 when it was a new facility. The Director and the head of patient care couldn't have been better. After the facility began to fill up there was a change in Management that had built a wonderful assisted living community. The new management fired countless people who had developed friendships with the residents and took their time to replace these workers to save labor costs for the weeks they were recruiting and hiring the replacements. Luckily, we had a camera in my Mother's apartment so we could monitor their visits especially during Covid. Numerous times we would have to call and request that they wake, dress and feed Mother which were services she was paying for. The Director doesn't know the residents by name and doesn't care. Mother recently passed away and their lack of compassion during her last days were incomprehensible. They charged us for everyday her belongings were in the room after her passing. After getting her things out of her apartment and taking it to storage, the only thing left in her apartment were oxygen tanks that needed to be picked up by the oxygen company. They continued to charge us for 5 extra days because they refused to store the oxygen tanks in a closet or somewhere until they could be picked up. We wrote a letter to their President and several other executives with no response. Mind you, this was not so much about the money as it was about their lack of concern, sympathy and even interest in hearing about our experience. Most C suite executives have the professional integrity to want to protect their reputation so that reviews such a this are not published. Needless to say, Southlake is a small high income community that share their experiences so businesses can either thrive or die. Time will tell.

I do NOT recommend this place!! We moved my mother in law in here [date removed]. She was in the memory care unit. One of the workers was moving her from her wheelchair to a regular chair and dropped her face first on the floor which resulted in a broken hip! She had to have surgery and rehab plus a second surgery for an infection at the surgical site. She had to move to nursing care. We went to retrieve her things from her room at Harbor chase and her recliner, pillow cases and a picture frame have mold on them!! Lots of mold!!! This is a brand new facility! This is a health problem!! Look elsewhere to put your loved one.

This community was great when Mom first moved into the community last year. But with the lack of communication from the management team at Harbor Chase with the COVID19 positive cases and the constant misinformation about what they are doing to protect the current elderly who don't have COVID19 is disgraceful. This community is breathtaking when you first walk into this community main entrance, and unfortunately this lack of care the elderly are taking there last breathes here as well. This community lacks proper cleaning, the staff is seen doing a lazy job of cleaning the simple things like the rails. My Mom only gets 2 meals a day, not the 3 that she is suppose to get, she pays over $8K a month, for this community. If you are thinking about moving your loved one here, DON'T. There is nothing going on here that your parents, uncles, aunts, siblings wouldn't have at their own homes (expect NO COVID19), or choose a community that doesn't have any cases, easily find them in the News Journal, they have been publishing the communities with positive cases.

Overly physical handling of residents by CNA staff and unresponsive executive administration. Run away from here fast! This place looks pretty but during the last Influenza season, seven residents died. The flu was left to spread even after hospital confirmed the 2 influenza cases.People were not separated sick from healthy with no precaution including not allowing facemasks for the staff. Do not trust the executive director he does not follow through on anything, his only mission is numbers, number, numbers !Sales will lie and promise services nonexistent. Run fast!

This place is a circus run by the ring leader [name removed].The Director is never available,unprofessional,never answer calls,and slips out the back door when needede.My mother lived here for 2 years and i cant tell you how many times her oxygen was left on 0..and the facility said they are allowed hiccups.They sent my mom to a rehab and didnt let her come home for a month. She walked out of the facility and after three weeks was confined to a wheelchair b/c she forgot how to walk.The facility never once reached out to my mother or the family to see how things were going.After my mother passed away my last memory of her was holding her as i was crying relentlessly and the Harbor Chase nurse making me feel like i was disgusting for doing that and told my husband i would catch something.This place is awful except for maybe one nurse and a couple of cna's.Run don't walk from here!

This facility is a joke. It is beautiful looking but looks are deceiving. Management will tell you anything to get you to move your loved one in, but the reality doesn’t match the picture they paint. The nursing staff is incompetent and frequently rude. They could not accurately dispense my mom’s medications—thank goodness she was able to keep track of it herself at the age of 90! We had to take responsibility for meds away from the nursing staff because it was so messed up. The food service was awful! They kept promising a new chef but we never saw one while my mom was there. The menus were awful, food was mediocre or worse, and service was extremely slow. Activities were disorganized and uninteresting although they may have been ok for residents with cognitive disabilities. Despite many meetings with management, things never improved and my mom’s final months were greatly diminished by her living there. The cost would have been justified if the services had been good, but as it was, the cost was obscene. Some of the staff were caring, but the ones who cared were the exception not the rule. What a disappointment this place was!

We were attracted to Harbor Chase because the facility was beautiful and is quite new (they opened in late 2016, I believe). However, management is the Absolute Worst here. There are many caregivers that we love and appreciate and do their best to give excellent care to our loved ones, but they are not appreciated or compensated appropriately by management, and are often blamed for things that management should take care of. So many folks have come here, have had accidents from falls, catching germs from others, etc and have passed away. Management makes promises up the wall, but never follows through. In our time here, we saw so many people pass away from unnatural causes, but management does not care. Activities consist of sitting around the TV in a circle, or having an "activity director" shout trivia facts or sing to the group once a day for about 10 min. Have no idea what she is actually being paid for, as it requires no planning whatsoever. And she is hardly ever around. It is pitiful and they are not engaged. It is so sad to visit and see these residents actively declining. Management straight up lies to families faces. I would have never let my family member come here, and warn everyone who is looking into this place to run far away. I know of at least 8 different families whose loved ones have passed away who had been fighting to get better care, but management lied, deflected and never followed through. Please do NOT send your loved ones here. It is such a shame that there are not better communities out there in the western suburbs with better management. I just cannot believe how they could lie with a straight face directly to us each and every week. It's ridiculous.

This place is a joke. More cost for sharing a room than your own one bedroom?

The grounds outside are fairly nice but the Building is not very clean... & upper management is terrible. The memory care side of the facility is just embarrassing... they feed them terrible food. The patients are clearly not being cared for well. There is better options if you care for your elderly relative!
