We toured this community and like the staff. We were not able to meet with the director but liked the other staff was kind enough to show us the community and answer the questions that we had. The community was bigger than what we wanted at the time for my mom. The meals seemed appealing. The residents did not seem to be active and we wanted a different atmosphere. We would suggest that other families tour this community for the care of a loved one.

This looked like a nice clean community when I visited. The people I met were nice and helpful. This was a larger community and it seemed like the residents had to wait in line for a table at meal time.

This community is older and the assisted living area of this community felt dark, dingy and dirty. The food was excellent the staff were nice and the independent living area was clean. We were looking for assisted living so this would not work for us.

The staff is friendly but they could use some help. There are too many residents for the amount of staff. The place is clean overall, but the food is awful. My father walks away hungry because of how bad it is. I like the open feel when you walk in the building.

Out of all my tours this was probably one of my least favorite. Everything seemed older and not up to date as some of the other facilities I had looked at. The staff was nice and made sure to give my dad and I lots of great information about there community. This just was not the right fit for him.

The room they showed me during my tour was tiny and they did not have one rooms available. The person that took me on tour was very nice. I went in the late afternoon and I did not see a lot of staff around. This community is clean and it was closer to me. The community looked brand new even though I know it is a few years old.

The place is great. Everything is good with the facility. No Complaints.

We looked at Southland Suites. It had a funky smell when you first walked in. I didn't see any issue, and I'm not sure what the smell was. It just wasn't a good fit for us.

We considered this community, and took a tour. They were nice, but their memory care unit was small. We wouldn't be able to keep my parents together in memory care since one of them didn't need it. They would have kept them close by each other, but not actually together. It was kind of small and cramped quarters. It also had a more clinical feel and wasn't as homey feeling.

In general they do a good job at Penningotn Place, but there are a few things I'd like to see them work on. The facility itself is clean and well kept, and the staff all seem very friendly. However, they seem understaffed and I think the care suffers for it. I do not think they are able to check on or spend the time working with each patient that they should.

The biggest downfall of this community was there is no place outside for walking. If my mom wanted to walk around outside, she would be right on the main road. We pretty much walked out right away after seeing that. The cost of this place is low, you can tell right away. There is a nasty smell. You get what you pay for.

I recently visited my loved one, and while I was there I had some bad experiences with the staff. Dad had been having some issues with his physical therapy, and when I questioned the head nurse about it she obviously knew nothing about my loved one's situation. They had been letting him decline physical therapy, and did not realize he was one of their dementia patients was not in a state to be making decisions about his own care. After I had to point this mistake out to them they grew very cold and unfriendly, and made the rest of my week-long visit with my loved one uncomfortable The facility itself is nice looking, and generally kept very clean (the dining room could use some extra attention), but this recent visit did not leave me feeling entirely comfortable with my loved ones care.

When I visit all of the employees have seemed friendly, helpful, and considerate, and my loved one seems like he is happy here.

It was only one story. Just didn't have the room that she wanted. It was nice, but not the right set up - she wanted a two bedroom with a roommate. Building was not that old, but not really new.

My mom lived in memory care at The Oaks for a short period of time. Pros included many kind and loving caregivers, clean and safe accommodations, knowledgeable nurses, good food, very “pretty and put together” on the outside. Cons included the “absence” of a director, being passed off to someone else when I wanted to speak with the director, billing issues after move out, some caregivers inexperienced and/or not cut out for this type of work that takes a special calling. The Oaks may be fine for assisted living options, but I would seek other stand alone memory care first if I had to do over again, and choose a place with fewer residents and a better caregiver ratio.

Liked most of the workers there. There payment system sucks. They are not equipped to handle Parkinson patients like my wife, even though they said they could. I would recommend, if they don't have a lot of medical issues.

Everyone was great, the rooms were clean. They did not however have a full kitchen was one thing we’re looking for in the event. He wanted to cook because he does like to cook. It was the most expensive senior living that we had visited. Everything was clean. I wasn’t impressed with the menu that they had on the table for lunch. They did have all of the extracurricular activities the minister that comes in a person that plays music that comes in. They have their ability to get you where you need to go

[name removed]and [name removed]who run the activities and outings, do excellent work interacting with the residents and showing them love! The concierges are friendly and uplifting. The staff caring for the residents, some are ok. Some need training on how to care for the elderly and how to show them they care. The dinners need most improvement with healthier foods, not hot dogs or slop and cheap options of grilled cheese on white bread, hamburger meat??? In water that dont like healthy at all. I have asked for fresh fruit and fresh vegetables be offered, put on tables on daily basis The care, the staff responding to my mom on level 2 needs great improvement and I am in meetings with Executuve Director currently. A lot of things not done consistently. even sweeping mopping room floors!

Some nice people, but I had to REALLY watch their billing. I feel sorry for residents who don't have a good caretaker to watch their charges. Also, we didn't know that hospice care could be added while we were there at no cost to us. It would have really helped. We wore ourselves out taking our parents to all kinds of drs and they were in and out of the hospital. All of that could have been handled by hospice.

Food was terrible over 20 people have left for the [community removed]. The facilities are good, director is money crazy and the food is terrible. The apartment size and location of the community are both good.
