My father is a WWII war vet with Dementia. They claim they are a facility that understands and can handle Dementia Patients. Unfortunately, the current facility leaders have shown my father complete disrespect because they are not equipped to handle his moderate dementia nor are they willing to take the advice of his Doctors who feel that now that he is properly medicated, he can continue to reside in the community with little problems. Alexian Village leadership's answer is to give him 30 days to find a new facility....in essence turning their collective backs on Military Veteran and evicting him because they simply don't want the headache of providing a comfortable environment for him.

Mom loved the Grand at first, but it has started to go down hill, [Name removed] the administrator is good at giving lip service without results. I have searched to find the parent company so I could reach out to them but I have been unsuccessful. The facilities are very nice but I am afraid the management is incapable. Be careful if you are considering.

This is a nursing home/not assisted living. Smells from urine are awful/a lot of public aid and hospice . Activities are the same grad school variety, not enough staff, when I did a tour saw alot of wheel chairs/walkers and residents being helped.

On [date removed], my daughter reached out to me, sharing that my brother [name removed] had informed her about our father's fall at Grand Regions Assisted Living Home and his transfer to the hospital. I promptly called them for details. They had already contacted 911, so I swiftly sent my nephew,[name removed], and my husband, [name removed], to the nearest trauma hospital. Sadly, he wasn't there, which prompted me to call 911 myself. I later learned they had chosen Southshore Hospital, which felt unexpected. When my nephew and husband finally arrived, they found my father with significant injuries to the right side of his face, swollen eyes, a gash needing stitches, and multiple fractures. He also had bleeding in the brain and was eventually moved to the University of Chicago Hospital. During our conversation, he recounted an alarming incident where he claimed two nurses had assaulted him, leading to a frightening scene when he regained consciousness. Determined, my nephew and I visited his

I would give a negative number for all. But a few of the staff were nice. The turn over was never ending so difficult to connect with any person you may have been getting to know. Residents felt it was the best they could do for the price. Food was marginal. I gave up on breakfast after a short time. Went to supper only and very often ended up with a sandwich because from experience knew the special would be bad.

I am so discouraged by this whole experience. A lot of promises and communication were there at the front end, but they were not followed through with. My stepfather spent Christmas alone! His daughters are crazy and they are opportunist and trying to get money from him. They took him to the bank and changed all of his accounts and life insurance over to their name. I begged for them to help me at the facility and to interrupt this because he doesn't know what he's doing he's just traumatized from the transition. His adult children that are estranged from him, came into the picture and made promises about getting him out of that facility. We spent years researching before we decided on this facility. We did it with him together. We did the tours. He was excited! My stepdad, which we have always been close with and have handled all of his care for the last 15 years as he aged is completely estranged from us now. He had such a difficult time transitioning and he was losing his mind. I reached out repeatedly and asked for help for someone to talk to him or us to help him transition and it fell on deaf ears. We miss him so much! We miss him at the holidays and the birthdays, and we miss celebrating his life. We completely lost him, and I have Concord to blame! I have literal emails from his daughters telling me that they should've gotten more money when my mom died and bragging about how they're going to get more when their dad dies. Their father intentionally wrote up a will to have them out of it. How is it possible that the elderly are not protected from people that are predators as they age? I reached out to talk to his doctor. I reached out to everyone! No help. They have the nerve to accidentally call me one time to talk about his care and that he is not doing well. Of course he's not doing well. A year ago when I reached out to tell you he's not doing well and I need your help and we could've surrounded him with love and helped them. No one wanted to talk to me. They all made empty promises and drop the ball. He slipped through the cracks. It's disgusting!

Supportive care isn't ideal. I was clear with the expectations & level of care my mom needs when talking with the facility, everything was Yes they do this & that. However, this has not been the case with the nurses or doctor (nurse practitioner). My mother has been there since mid August and has fell over 6xs. The 1st fall resulted in a hospital visit and Staples which they didn't remove. They refuse to put her dexcom 7 on her, I was told that was a skill and they are not a skilled facility. However, pricking her finger 3x a day is better and administering insulin. Are those not skills? The dexcom 7 is changed once every 10-14 days and constantly reads her blood sugar to a small monitor/device the size of an ipod. This would prevent the finger stick and YouTube video shows you how it's not complicated at all. When I call and leave messages b/c I can't get a person they never call back but they call when they want me to sign a care plan or to tell me she fell. It's frustrating!

You take our money, and feed the residents crap for dinner. Seniors need nutritious meals. On one occasion the dinner included; macaroni and cheese with cornbread. What kind of meal is that? How would you feel if your parent or loved one lived under those conditions? I saw a display honoring veterans if you really want to honor veterans/seniors, then feed them decent meals. Treat people how you would want someone to treat you. Many already have health conditions give us a good meals. Show more respect. SHAME ON YOU!

We recently attempted to enroll our mother at Victory Centre. All was going well, with the application process, and it looked like mom was going to be moving there. Due to some technical issues, with Medicaid application, we were rejected 2 days, before she was scheduled to move in! The cancellation letter was NOT very flattering and we feel that we did not get the support that we needed. I just thought that you might want to be made aware of this situation, and I would not recommend this place to anyone, if the inquired.

Our family had an in person tour and The woman who toured me was very nice but the facility is not. She took me some dirty smelly back ways and I was appalled. The location is terrible, there is no outdoor space and there were lots of sketchy people hanging around. It didn't look safe to me.

The residents are very nice. But the staff are a bunch of liars. They promise you the moon to get you to move in, but as soon as you move in, everything is taken away. The Activities Director quit months ago, and activities have gone downhill to the point that there aren't any at all. My apartment is a dump. I'm very disappointed. I would suggest finding a different community.

I DO NOT recommend Victory Centre in Bartlett IL. I suggest that you look around carefully prior to sending your loved one to Victory Centre in Bartlett IL. The staff to patient ratio is clearly too high. My sister was diagnosed with dementia which lead her to become a resident of Victory Centre for 1 year. In that timeframe I emailed management several times asking for my sister to be reminded of meals as often she would forget to go down on her own at mealtime and would later call me saying she was hungry and missed the meal. During Covid I was not allowed enter the facility to visit my sister to see what condition she was in. I only saw her in limited outdoor visits where she was typically dressed in same clothes, not sure if a change of clothes was ever suggested or assisted. Approximately two months ago on [date removed] I was called to the emergency room to find out my sister was passed out unconscious on the floor of her room for an unknown amount of time. Upon my arrival at the Emergency room I was told by the Emergency room doctor that my sister had Sepsis, likely a result of aspirating her own vomit while unconscious on the floor of her room at Victory Centre. In addition to Sepsis she also had Pneumonia and Urinary tract Infections all of these combined led to Congestive Heart failure. As a result of this health trauma, I was told that night she was not expected to survive overnight. However, she did pull through her but her heart, brain and general health severely declined. I contacted the Director at Victory Center to advise her I must immediately terminate my sisters stay at Victory Center and move her to another facility with more 1:1 care due to her declined health. According to the contract I signed I was able to do this and surely after a near death experience this should be allowed. The Director then called and debated with me that she felt my sister could still stay at Victory even with the severely declined health and therefore I could not remove her without 30 days PAID notice. After this debate, I gave this notice on [date removed] and my Sister was billed for the 30 days notice on [date removed]. On [date removed] I discovered that additional money was withdrawn by Victory Centre from my sisters account above and beyond the 30 days notice payment. I contacted the Director about this who immediately referred me to business manager. The business manager did not bother to respond back to me for 32 days. On day 32, I was told my sister was not only responsible for 30 days but also an additional 4 days from [dates removed] based on their billing cycle. Which clearly she cannot afford. I typically would not write a bad review for anything however what my sister has been through and this general situation definitely warrants it and my hope is others do not have to go through a situation such as this.

I would want others to know that my mother was in the memory care part of Waterford Estates. I sent her here with the hope they would know more than I did while taking care of her, but that was not the case. They called me about everything and put all of it on me. I hope that they can do a better job with other peoples family members than they did with mine. They were not very good with communication and I believe that is key. I was really looking for a facility where they would treat my mother as she was one of their family members and this was not the case with this facility.

This used to be a fantastic place until the new Executive Director took over. Should have seen it coming when all of the staff started to leave. The food used to be amazing and my husband and I looked forward to sharing holiday meals with my in-laws. Now it is all processed and usually cold. Since the new director took over, an aide was helping my father-in-law in the shower. As he was getting out, she didn't notice that one foot was in the tub and the other was outside the tub. He fell and hit his head with the aide standing next to him. That was a trip to the ER. When I came back, I asked the head nurse on his floor for the incident report. There wasn't one. She wasn't even aware of what happened. This was several hours after the incident happened. When I went back the next day for it, there still was no incident report. I called the Executive Director every day for a week, and she never returned my call. A month or so later, my mother-in-law was in the patio outside. She fell. She was not hurt thankfully, but the people who work there would not even help her up. They just called an ambulance and left her on the ground outside until the paramedics got there. They then proceeded to send her to the hospital with out her walker, which was right next to her. The walker, they left on the patio. It was still there when we got back from the ER. Add to that things like one of two elevators being down for over two months. The elevator inspection being out of date for 6 months. The family Christmas party which was so poorly organized, half of the residents and their families were sitting in chairs in the lobby, and none of the people who were serving hors d'oeuvres never came out of the dining room so half of the residents and their families never got any food, even after I went into the dining room and pointed it out to them.

Get your loved one out of there right away...especially if they have any kind medical problems. The physician/nursing, care, communication and correct followthrough is non-existent. Lives are saved by visiting nurses who come on weekends. Hopefully the new directors can improve on a terrible situation.
