Janet was excellent during the whole process!!!

The staff at Alexian Village have been very accommodating during the whole process. We know there are different circumstances for everyone and the staff remained very positive. My aunt has limited sight but the staff have worked to help her participate in some of the activities. The food has healthy and good choices. I would recommend this community. The community is clean and well taken care of.

My Mom's Safe Haven

My mother has been a resident of Victory Center of Sierra Ridge since October 2014. After having 2 strokes & a pacemaker in July - September 2014, it was determined this was the next best move for her health as she was limited on what she could do for herself. Since being at Victory Centre she has come a long way. She is walking, talking, & even singing. She still needs assistance with bathing, meds, housekeeping & laundry; all of which Victory Centre offers along with her meals. My mother loves the food. She is diabetic and has high blood pressure. Her glucose is under control now as well as her blood pressure. She adores the nursing staff. I should add, my mother has numerous other illnesses that are considered terminal illnesses. To that end, Comfort Care was recommended early this year. She has gotten even better. Between the music therapy, chaplin, cna, nurse & social worker; her social skills have more than exceeded my expectations. She was having to make numerous visits to the emergency room; she hasn't been since being under their care along with Victory Centre. One last comment I want to add, my mother feels safe. Should an incident happen, of which there has only been one, the staff was attending her in less than 3 minutes. She said she wasn't worried about falling and any other accident because she felt confident they would be there for her. From the receptionist, to the executive director, I give them the highest praise!!!

Everyone was very helpful. Some of the front desk help needs a little more customer service training. Not very impressive. The housekeeping in the common areas good be improved but all in all I am very pleased with Concorde. My elderly cousin seems very happy and that make s me happy knowing she is in a good and safe environment.

A great place to live!

My sister-in-law moved to the Victory Centre of Bartlett recently. She lived in Chicago most of her life and was a bit apprehensive about the move. After settling in she quickly adopted to all the benefits and wondered why she waited so long to move. She now has everything she wants and needs. A great apartment, delicious meals, on site visiting doctor, bus service for outings and shopping, hairdresser, exercise room, and the Hanover Park Senior Center that is right next door that she can walk to and friendly, helpful staff ready to assist when needed. A big thank you for providing such a comfortable environment.

Victory Centre of Bartlett a great choice for grandma

After having to move my grandmother back from Florida to be closer to family, out of three choices we are so pleased to have chosen Victory Centre in Bartlett ! Grandma was very nervous about being back in the Chicago area and not knowing anyone in the building. I was very happy when a caretaker offered to introduce her to some of the other residents she has come to call friends. We were worried about her getting all of her medications, but she has never had an issue. Through physical therapy and doctor monitoring, she was even able to get off two of them. She had to have a procedure done and a Victory nurse visited her in the hospital to say they missed her and were looking forward to her having her home ! She attends the arts and crafts and loves the community dog. Even though she relies heavily on a walker, she has gone on many outings and trips. Whenever she needs something, the staff attends to it or calls to inform us. She uses her call button if she needs assistance, and she says the staff are "always nice to her". We were worried about her losing weight in Florida because she was no longer able to cook well for herself. She looks so much better now after having all her meals prepared for her. I've heard some horror stories from friends about having their loved ones in senior housing, and I'm so happy I haven't had that experience at VC in Bartlett !

Two years ago I took my then 91 year old uncle on a tour of senior living communities hoping that he would decide to move. He has lived alone in a second floor condo with 17 steps for the last twelve years. He was not ready to move then. But last September he got sick, was hospitalized and we realized he could not return to the condo. I was so glad that we had seen Waterford Estates and knew immediately that it was where I wanted my uncle to live. He has moved into a very nice studio apartment and is really enjoying the new lifestyle. Rent comes with 2 meals a day. The dining room is fabulous as are the meals and choices. He needs assistance with medications, bathing and putting on his compression stockings and they accommodate all his needs without charging for more. We are all very happy

Affordable, Quality Assisted Living Care

I looked at over 30 properties in the area for a facility that was professional, affordable, clean, and enjoyable for my aunt and Waterford Estates in Hazel Crest fits perfectly. The staff is attentive, the facility/grounds are like a nice hotel, and the price for her care and room and board is very affordable. The facility is expanding to offer an Alzheimer/Dementia unit and perhaps more assisted living units. We are very comfortable leaving our loved one there knowing that they are taking good care of her and making it a pleasant stay!

Concord Place assisted living for younger adult

My brother is 60 years old and on disability. He has numerous medical issues and wanted to live in a more independent setting than a nursing home. Nick from "A Place For Mom" introduced us to Concord Place, and it has been a blessing for our family! Concord Place affords elderly or disabled residents with a great deal of independence in their living, providing meal service in an onsite restaurant, laundromat, community rooms, onsite chapel and resident medical services including CNA, nurses, physicians and physical therapists. The facility also has an onsite beauty salon serving men and women, small convenience store, computer center and swimming pool. Our brother enjoys his freedom and we feel very secure that his medical needs are taken care of.

Really Great Place

It's a really, really great place. Unfortunately I think I need to move my parents becuase they need skilled care instead of assisted living. As far as the care they're getting, the food plan, and the apartment, it seems like a good value. The care services are good. They distribute all the meds which is good. My father ended up in the hospital with congestive heart failure. They saw him several times a day but he did not volunteer that he was having trouble breathing or any pains so I can't blame them for that because he was not forthcoming about his condition. I don't blame them for my dad going to the hospital. My parents aren't taking advantage of the activities but I know they have exercise classes 3x a week, a movie night once or twice a week and a library area. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the meals are good. The only complaint I've heard is that they serve them too much.

My experience

The Concord Place is ok. It's no Taj Mahal but, it's far better than a quarter a night flop house on skid row where I once delivered western union telegrams when i was 16 yrs old. Over all the place is quite clean. On the weekends it can get a little messy. I found the staff quite friendly. [names removed] one of the receptionist, seem to go out of their way to help everyone. I cannot comment on that as I am living as independent but I wont let that stop me. I have seen people being helped in wheel chairs, sight impaired being guided to the cafeteria by staff. Like most establishments these services are ala carte. Such as , laundry service, $[removed] per month, Making sure you get your medication daily and on time, $[removed]per month, so forth and so on. The staff is really nice in if you need assistance they will try to help and not ask to see your credit card first. So far the staff have been a pleasure to work with. Each meal has at least 1 chef special. If you're not thrilled with these chooses, you can choose from the menu which offers you a plethora of options from hot dogs to spaghetti with meat sauce and salads If you're to picky an eater then do as my mommy use to say, " Eats what on the menu or go to bed hungry" That usually was followed by a swat to back of the head but, we cannot do that these days. To bad. Beside the regular card games, bingo, Wii bowling, they have their own movie theatre. They show movies 3 nights a week. Bring your own popcorn. There is an indoor pool with water aerobics. want to take class in crocheting, Spanish, got you covered. There is grand piano in the lobby and 3 nights a week someone come and plays it. occasionally their are guest musician come and play and serve champagne. There are outings to Walmart, Jewel, Aldi's, Dollar Tree , Hines, Chase Bank, Outside of these there isn't much going on. Sorry. If I have painted this as the ideal retirement home, it's not for everyone, As stated before, it's not the Taj Mahal. It's located in an industrial area. Directly to the east are truck terminals, rail yards factories. To the west are 2 interstate highways and their exits directly in front of the Concord. There are several restaurants and shopping within walking distance but no sidewalks to get there. The Concord is not a luxurious retirement facility. I have a studio apt. I am very pleased with it. I had to buy a small refrigerator, microwave and toaster. I'm not allowed to have a hot plate There are apt.'s here with full kitchens or so I'm told but, that's priced out of my comfort range. All said and done I believe life is what YOU make of it. I want to live what is left for my life as independent as I can. As of now I am comfortable here. I have a comfortable apt., good food, plenty pf things to keep my mind occupied.

My Dad's Positive Experience

The staff is very welcoming and was very helpful from the start. They very much want their residents to be happy and comfortable and out of their rooms spending time with others. My dad doesn't do much in the way of activities, but he did join the New Years celebration and had a wonderful time in the ballroom. He also works out daily on the elliptical machine so that is very convenient. There are many activities for residents though. Dining is probably one of the best things he would say about Concord. It's restaurant style with a large menu and daily specials, so he gets whatever he likes to eat. He came from a previous place out of state that you got 2-3 choices per day and they continually repeated meals. He also is very happy with the quality of the food, I myself have eaten with him there and they do a very good job. The only negative was that he transitioned to Medicaid and the floor those folks are on only have bathtubs and one shower for people in wheelchairs to use. Or they would provide a nurse to help residents in and out of the tub/shower. So after some investigating, I found a chair that fits neatly over the tub that he safely sits down and swings his leg in one at a time. So that was very helpful to find, but no one there recommended that could be a solution. They have replaced his shower head to a wand system I purchased as well, so that was very helpful. I would recommend it, but if your parent is in a wheelchair make sure the accommodation will work for them for the bathroom.

Pleasant Caretakers and Convenient Location

The facility is nice and convenient, overall. The residents and caretakers are pleasant and helpful. Management and meals/dining services needs improvement. Most days, the quality of the food is extremely questionable. My aunt has received half cooked and sometimes unrecognizable meats and grains. The management seems to be out of touch with the residents and their concerns. The Head of Nursing is difficult to reach and does not follow up on messages without multiple attempts or contacting the director. They over promise and under provide.

Review for The Grand at Twin Lakes

I would recommend this place as you can't find friendlier residents. Our current activity lady is friendly, helpful and innovative. First impression of The Grand was it's beautiful, has a pool for exercise, and my two room apartment is HUGE with a view of the park. The only drawback for ME is the food. Because the chef is held to a very, very tight food budget (cheap owners who don't seem to know groceries have skyrocketed the last year or two) and we are OFTEN out of food. I thank goodness I have the money, desire and ability to make my own meals often. Many ladies agree with me, but eat it anyway. And, of course, the men never complain. But then, most men eat anything you put in front of them. Bless them. Still I would recommend this place and thanks for asking.
