We have lived here for a few months now. Lots of changes in rules and dining and staff in a short time. I think some of the unhappy staff needed to go, so not sure that is a bad thing. Some of the staff are very friendly and sweet - other people seem upset that they are working here. All of the exercise activities are early in the day, so if you are more of an afternoon person, you are out of luck. The food service is extremely slow - don't seem to have enough staff. It seems like the management is trying to work on issues and it is tough finding the right kind of staff that enjoy working with elderly. I will update my review if/when improvements are noted. I wish we had looked at more properties before moving here. Seems like once they have the steep move-in fee and you overall your whole life, you are kind of stuck.

The staff and facility was very nice and high end. It was very new and I thought it was hard to gage what the facility would really be like when the clients came. I think the occupants for the rooms are the most important in any assessing whether it's a good fit for my mother, so it was a little hard to tell.

The facilities are excellent, and the amenities and activities provided are excellent. They have one big problem. They can't keep hired help, which results in very poor service in the dining room, and sometimes in maintenance. The food quality is variable but I judge it to be overall mediocre. Some times it is very good and sometimes very bad.

I looked at The Willows, but I was just not impressed. It was kind of dark there, the rooms were dreary, and the community smelled funky. I did not feel that the staff was receptive to us, and they didn't seem to be trying very hard to get us to move in.

Heritage Oaks is a fairly well organized community. There have been a few snaffoos so far, and the food is not so good. However, the staff is helpful, the facility itself is beautiful, and my husband loves it. The have a good activities program that is very full and efficient. They also clean our room once a week and do our laundry. Overall, I feel that we are being treated very well here.

Way too eager to get all you possibly pay, 4% rent increase every year, poor quality food. Everyone in the office who don't seem to like Elderly people. Repair & needs reported and encouraged but very long wait- not really fixed. Men doing repairs way overworked. The appearance of luxury maintained but not authentic. Move in only when all you were promised is Done! Published menus are not often much like what appears. It was suggested we turn this in and they would mail.

I wanted this to be my favorite based on its location. Many rooms overlook a lake with walking area around the lake. However the receptionist was uninfromed of our pre-scheduled visit even though my name was on the welcome signage at the front door. When informing the receptionist of this she snapped at me and made me feel that my family would not be welcome or comfortable here. Glad that there were not 2 bathrooms in the two bedroom apartments due to the handling of our arrival with the receptionist.

Not a good first impression after phones not working. Once we got there nobody attending front reception. Had to knock on the door to get attention. Tour was fair. Felt like questions were answered more than information offered. Friendly people. We were not offered a meal or a chance to schedule for one as dining was closed when we were there. They were double or triple booked for tours so we finished feeling the pressure of people waiting. only saw about 3 or 4 people that lived there. They were very positive about living there.

I had recently made the move into this community and I have to say that it was not my favorite out of all the ones I had looked at. I thought the price was very high for what they had to offer. I had toured other facilities that where a lot nicer and had more to offer for cheaper. I did not like the down stairs restroom, I thought it was old and needed to be updated. All of the walls as well as the carpet was outdated and needed to be redone. The dinning room was very small and too cramped for all of the residents they had.

We had to move dad out once mom passed away. for my mom, she had been back and forth from the hospital and rehab a few times so she really didn't have any experience there but for my dad, he seemed to like it. He enjoyed the people staff and the residents and while he was there he seemed to like the food. Communication on the medications that he was supposed to be taking was a little bumpy at first but quickly got resolved. The staff was very sympathetic to our situation with my mom which we appreciated.

In the middle of my search I had a visit at this community. It was not the right spot for my mom but they did an alright job showing me the place.

My dad has been here almost 6 months. The facility is clean and new carpets are being installed soon. The food was great at first but has steadily declined in quality. They have been through three Chefs in six months and have laid off staff plus cut workers hours. They hardly had any vacancies at first and now there are 28. Corporate management needs to shape this place up or there will soon be a 29th vacancy. There is no excuse for this.

Very clean, well kept facility with friendly and knowledgeable staff. The residents seem happy & healthy. Definitely, would consider this facility for my parents care.

The staff where very friendly to me during my tour and made sure to answer any questions I had as well as answer any questions I had. The facility was just a little out dated for my liking and not very comparable to the other places I had looked at in the area. It was just not the right fit for me in the end decision.

There are some things about this community that could be better. The meals could some improvements. Other than that issue everything seems to be working out pretty well. The staff is kind, and have been welcoming. My apartment looks nice. Overall they need to improve the meals.

[Removed] I visited Brookdale-Northbrook by myself. [Removed] was very candid with me and discussed the differences between the rental (buying care) vs. "buy in" (buying real estate)options. She said that we would find more people in our age group in a "buy in" environment. I'm inclined to believe that she is right about this and will know more after we visit Sedgebrook. The facility was nice enough, but I wouldn't want to live there, as the only thing I would have in common is my silver hair. I felt like I was there to visit my parents or grandparents.

Now that there is a new chef, the environment is worse than before. [removed] does not know how to cook, he yells at the staff, the food is disgusting, no wonder 3 of the other chefs quit (asst. chefs). You need to look into letting him go, more people are complaining than before and look into [removed], he is one of the worst directors for the people that live here

Things could be better in dining room service. The community is looking or staff that are able to understand the residents. The facility is being remodeled and a little hard to get mail when walking trough it. Once completed it will be more fine for my friend. His living experience is going good so far and it is great for him. His apartment is convenient to the elevator and that is what he likes.

The Inspired Living was too big and unorganized. There were a lot of residents there with bad behavior and my mother was scared. She was afraid to go to the common areas. The night and day shifts had poor communication.

I had a decent tour of this community. For the most part everything went well. The community looked nice. The staff I came across was nice. There were many factors that played into where to place my parents, and this was not the community for us.
