Glen Park

We are very pleased with the staff, the facility and the environment for our loved one. They helped us move her in and assisted us with the parking problem by having us purchase a remote for the underground parking. That's the only problem with this facility there is not enough on street parking.

Our parent has lived at this facility for over a year. We visited many facilities within a 40 mile radius including small group homes, large assisted living in both city and suburbs. We have placed other family members or had short respite stays, so we have recent experiance. The administration and management of this facility are top notch. The staff are hard working and most are kind and go out of their way. It is CLEAN ! The food is very good, fresh ingredients and a varied menu. Many of the ground level staff are not fluently bilingual in english, this is difficult for hard of hearing seniors, but their heart makes up for it. Many languages are spoken on this staff, Armenian, Spanish, Farsi, Arabic are a few I have recognized. This is an asset and helps facilitate communication. Most care facilities are understaffed or under trained with staff constantly rotating in and out due to low pay. While this is also the case to some degree here, they do a great job in hiring, managing and communicating with staff. It appears that they support their staff both in morale and financially, but there is always room for supporting the workers on the battle front wo do the most difficult and dirty work. Given the price point, it is run really well, if it were $9,000 a month we would expect more. It is clear that admn and management continue to strive to bring quality care, even in difficult and complex times and situations, be that individual or the economy at large. I also appreciate that they try to mainain a blend of guests that will gell and become community, support one another, be kind and civil. They keep a balanced ratio of healthier pleasant guests with a sprinkling of guests whose needs become greater or who who become more grumpy or less compliant.Guests are also from a wide spectrum of back grounds be that race,socioeconomic, age, health needs. We love the diversity and have found it stimulating, interesting and full of life! If you have spent any amont of time in assisted living facilities, you will especially appreciate this. Glen park Mariposa has a great feel. We have had glitches of course, caring for a loved one is complex and nuanced, , but issues and concerns are always addressed with mutual respect and professionalism. Solutions or creative compromises are found. You can't ask for more than that.

The rooms at Glen Park at Boynton are very neat and clean, each having a sliding glass door which opens to a large, shared patio area. Rooms have wall air conditioning units, a must in LA where it's seemingly 90 degrees nine months out of the year. The staff comes in daily to vacuum, make the bed and clean the bathroom. The dining room is very spacious and is located next to a lounge which features a large flat screen TV with several big lounge chairs. When I was there during dinner, the staff was wiping down all the vacated chairs in the lounge. They do a good job of keeping the place clean. Staff is very polite; I haven't run into any employees or nurses with bad attitudes. I'm told the food is fairly good though, like other places, the portions are rather small. The only negative is the non-existent street parking, with the facility located on a very narrow street in Glendale with lots of apartment buildings. Guests can park in the facility's underground structure, but you have to call to have the staff open the parking gate both coming and going.

My friend was a resident at Splendor for about a year and was comfortable there. The place was always clean and bright. The cook was excellent as far as accommodating his special diet. As far as activities, I don't remember any but my friend was not mobile so couldn't participate anyway. Lovely covered patio outside with comfortable chairs.

The people that work there are great! They are all really nice, and make my mom feel cared for. The only critique I would give is that they need their air conditioning in the dining area fixed.

Glen Park West is an independent living facility where residents can come and go as they please, some even have cars. We chose Glen Park West because they also offer an assisted living facility Glen Park East that has more staff caring for residents. If a resident wanders outside an alarm will sound. It is nice not to have to move a loved one to a whole new facility if they require more care, which was our primary reason for chosing Glen Park. Glen Park was a lot better than the other facilities we toured, one had absolutely no activities that they offered, and the other was nice and cheaper than Glen Park but did not offer the same array of services. Glen Park is a great facility and so far worked out good for us.

Our family had an in person tour with Glen Park at Long Beach and even though we did not pick it for our loved one, we thought they did a really nice job when it came to the overall tour.

The staff is nice. I think they are taking good care of him. He looks healthy & his body & clothes are always clean. His room/bathroom is also kept very clean.

There are strict regulatory audits force meticulous processes to be adhered to, when being able to administer medications. There are no discrepancies allowed from doctor's orders and administrating of prescriptions which often times causes delays and frustration for the residents and families to be able to expeditiously receive medications prescribed from their doctors. Kaiser has difficulty communicating with the community and the community has difficulty communicating with Kaiser and this causes more delays.

My Love One has spent many happy years at Glen Park Monrovia. Many of the Staff has been there long-term. Their love and dedication to their patients is very evident. From the Activity Dir. to the Cooks, Office Staff, etc show professionalism on a daily basis. I do have one concern. Sometime last year management felt the need to stop Med Techs from dispensing medication. There had been one overseeing this and during that time I was comforted by her efficiency. However, since this change we have had to deal with Staff arguing about following Doctors orders to adjust medication. Not ordering meds in a timely manor to the point of being out of meds up to 10 days and other inconvenient things. This never happened when the very Capable Med Tech was providing oversight and dispensing the meds. Sometimes change mearly for the sake of change is problematic. Other wise I can only express love and appreciation for the service at Glen Park Monrovia.

The facility was neat and clean. Could use a little more updating but a good choice overall.

They take great care of my relative. Always clean, staff so nice and home cooked meals.

Had mom in Glen Park Mariposa. Great room, friendly and responsive staff however her health deteriorated and we had to move her to a skilled nursing facility. She enjoyed her stay, loved the exercise sessions and really enjoyed the food. Would recommend this facility for anyone who needs an assisted living arrangement.

This is a wonderful community to live in. Residents are treated with respect. Staffs go above and beyond to make sure that residents are comfortable and their needs are met. I am proud to be working for a place where the residents are the first priority.

This is the 3rd assisted living facility my mom has been in, and it is seems, after one week, to be the best. She seems well cared for. The staff is attentive and the place has a friendly, active vibe. The environment is lovely (although I'm not sure that matters to my mom). My one complaint is that I have to pay for gloves for her caregivers. Everywhere else, they are provided by the establishment.

We have decided to place our father here. Impressed with the caring staff and believe this will be a good fit.

My sister is very with the care of the this community. They do offer her to participate with others in activities, but she finds it hard to interact with some of the other residents. She is happy with the variety of meals that are offered. The community is very clean and maintained. We feel that this is a excellent value and care and would highly recommend it to other families.

[Removed] was great. Long time staff, all seemed great. Clean, Good enough. Heavy on the Xmas decor.

My friend likes the care that she is getting here. The staff is very helpful with her needs. She seems to like the meals that are offered. The community is always very clean. We recommend this community to others for good care and value.

The tour my loved one and I received was excellent, the staff was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of useful information about there community as well as answered any questions in detailed we had for them. The facility was nicely maintained and very clean.
