Numerous problems with care staff especially 2:30-10:30pm and 10:30-6:30am shifts for lack of inconsistency in care and lack of proper hygienic practices. I am the daughter of the resident there (my father). I had tried numerous times to address the basic care issues and sadly they are usually met with excuses. Some staff there are consistent the case given however sadly there are known staff who consistently give inconsistent or no care.

The person who conducts the tours was unavailable for my scheduled appointment. Therefore the assistant conducted the tour. I should have been contacted and given the option to reschedule the tour or be guided by the assistant. Facility is dated. It didn’t seem to have a many activities for the residents.

Our experience with Brookdale Hamilton Wolfe Memory Care was disappointing. Memory care residents are warehoused in a stark, lockdown environment. Administrative and medical leadership were distant/absent/dismissive. We found the facility to be overpriced for the level of non-service provided. As an example, we were told to purchase our own insecticide to deal with the roach infestation. Front-line staff (med-techs) were courteous and caring.

They had double rooms here but they were not separated like we were looking for. I waited for a long time for my tour while many employees sat next to me on their phones. I just did not get a good vibe from this facility.

The rooms were small. During our visit there were no wheelchairs weren't available.

The community made promises that didn't keep. The medical help and suggestions they made were not followed through with. I would not recommend this community to others. I feel that they are very good at hiding things, and they promised a lot when we were looking at them and they did not do what they said they would.

The staff from Brookdale Shadowlake were very polite and cordial. They were able to address all of my concerns in regards to my mothers care needs. They offer many activities for the residents including outings. It is an older community and not quite maintained as well as it could be. The community would benefit from some updating and better up keep.

My husband was only here for a few hours and he fell and broke hi hip. I am unhappy with the community for not refunding me my deposit because we did not move in after he fell on their property. I agreed to pay for the time my furniture was in the room but I have not got a resolution yet.

My mother is very old fashioned, very, very old fashioned and she didn't like what you might say "male and female dating" or whatever you want to call it and she took real offense to what was going on. She felt really uncomfortable there so that's why we got her out of it. She didn't like the food, there was so much there about the food that she didn't like, but my mom is a very good cook and she thought the food there was just plain horrible. Most of the time the food was fried, fried fish, fried everything..she said she didn't think anybody could screw up spinach out of a can but they did. I would have never put her there because the room she was put into was basically dark and depressing already walking in to it.

My parents have been at Brookdale Lewisville for almost a month now. It has been a struggle on our part to try and get issues with care and billing in order, of which is still an ongoing concern. We're doing what we can to help make this work as a place for my folks. I'm surprised A Place for Mom would have recommend this facility as an option, it makes me hesitate to consider other options they may recommend.

My mother-in-law has lived there for several years. The quality and warmth of the food has always been a problem. The activity director that everyone loved and was very good at planning was let go. Activities are the most important thing and they should hire someone that knows what they are doing. Medication distribution has been fraught with errors due to inability to keep good staff in this area, or most areas for that matter. They have improved the facility, but routine maintenance like outside lights has been an issue. Returning in the evening and getting someone to open the door can be a problem. Brookdale should talk directly to residents about there concerns and not just the management.

Do not send anyone to Brookdale Shadowlake. They left a fallen resident on the floor all night, even the call for help. No one responded until 0715. Very poor nursing leadership. Director of nursing does not know the Board of nursing best practice law guidelines for medication management and care.

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT PUT YOUR LOVED ONE INTO BROOKDALE SHADOWLAKE...unless you want unprofessional, dishonest, and never ending increases of your care plan price!! Majority of the care staff do not care about their job and would rather be on their phones and have no clue how to professionally communicate, they are untrained and many do not show up to work or come in late,. Fees increase frequently with "assessments", management would rather push incidences under the rug or cover than properly address with staff. I have been told numerous times "if you don't come as much you won't see the issues." Activity calendar is an illusion of what "happens" with the weekends being the worse. Food is often served barley warm or even cold. Care staff do not take allergies serious! 200% please do not put your loved on at Shadowlake .... there are much more amazing communities out there, even really close to Shadowlake!!! Don't fall for the illusion that they present you when you tour!

They are completely money driven. My parents didn't even move in cause their apartment wasn't even ready. I decided not to move them in while we waited, it was just too hard for me emotionally to move them and Brookedale kept thousands of my parents' money. I had to fight to get them a portion of their money back. Would not recommend.

I don't recommend Brookdale Hamilton Wolfe. I had my mom at the memory care facility and she fell 6 times. I believe they don't have enough personal to take care of all the people staying at the facility. I had to move my mom out of that place. I was not happy with the facility.

Our family recently had a very disappointing experience with Brookdale San Marcos South. While the staff was initially courteous and accommodating during the inquiry and tour process, what unfolded after signing the contract has left us feeling misled and taken advantage of. On [date removed] , I clearly expressed my hesitation about moving forward with the contract. At that time, the Sales Manager, personally assured me that if anything changed prior to move-in, the check and contract would be “torn up.” It was only under that verbal assurance—and while feeling pressured to secure the apartment—that I reluctantly signed and submitted payment. Ultimately, my mother decided to stay in her current community. We communicated this decision well in advance of her scheduled move-in date and requested a refund for the $[removed] we paid and were denied.

Brookdale Hamilton Wolfe is just out to make money. I put a deposit down and changed my mind about moving my parents and they kept over $[removed] of my parents money. The room wasn't even ready when I decided not to move them. They are a disgraceful organization.

I would tell them to read the Google reviews. We had a HORRIBLE experience there. The staff has a high turnover rate, even in the short time we were there, we hardly saw the same face twice. The call button pendent system to get an attendant is horrible - we had a really bad experience with this and reading back through the Google reviews is has been going on for years. My mom was bed ridden by the time she got there and had horrible bed sores in a short amount of time. They were not prepared for her level of care. We put a camera in her room for two nights to verify she was not getting her night meds or a night visit. We ended up pulling her out and taking her home after about 3 of the longest weeks of my life! She passed the next day at my brother's house.

We were lead to believe that this community could handle my mother's level of care but it soon became apparent that this was not the case. The ONLY care she received was from the hospice providers. She quickly developed bedsores because they weren't rotating her, even when Doctor's orders for rotating were sent. There were many times they skipped her medication. Their "pendant system" was a joke. The poor staff would get a notice that someone on the campus needed assistance but never knew who it was. We ended up removing my mother back home after about 3 weeks. The director acknowledged that the care was subpar and apologized.

The care staff need to be better in services regarding illness of clients (patients), and interview of potential new patient better assessment , filling beds does not mean the person is a good fit for assisted living, they have to be able to function on their own with minimal supervision. The supervisor should also not frighten family member with threats of having to pay extra for individual services and holding them hostage. They cannot hold you against your will.
