We toured at this Brookdale for my loved one, and I thought that the rooms here were really nice. However, my loved one would have had to go straight in to assisted living, and I did not think he would have liked that. I also thought it was a little strange that any resident living on the upper floors of the community needs to have the ability to walk down several flights of stairs in a certain amount of time. I felt this was a bizarre requirement.

My step dad is doing ok but we are dealing with some health issues that have come up. One of which is he has lost his desire to eat nothing to do with the food being served here which is good it's just him. The staff is very kind and accommodating.The community is clean and well kept. We are very pleased.

This community seemed a little gloomy when we visited. My loved one did not seem excited about moving into this community. They do offer a better outdoor area than the community we chose. They had what looked like a good memory care area. The people we met were nice.

During my tour of the Brookdale, I noticed that the place seemed a lot like a nursing home. The rooms were very small. When we arrived, the tour guide was very friendly and handed us a packet of information. Everyone was very friendly but it was not a good for her.

I really like the family atmosphere that Brookdale Shadowlake provides. I am very pleased with the staff, they are all very friendly and attentive with my loved one. The community is kept clean and well organized. If i have any concerns they will work to solve any issue going on. Meals are tasty and nutritious there could be some changes but overall, everything is good.

Upon touring this memory unit I immediately noticed the care exhibited by the aids I saw to the residents. Walking hand in hand, some were being led to either the dining room or the TV room. I also observed the cleanliness of the unit looking at the residents clothing, tables to eat on, even the floors. It was nice. Not being able to afford a private room, I was shown a shared room for my mom. Dissappointed by the size and lack of privacy I knew that this was going to have to be the choice for my loved one. Mom has been there over a week and has just started to adjust to the change. It was very hard at first but I am starting to see a change in her attitude toward Emeritus Creekside. The activity director guided me through the calendar and showed my where my mom who is a higher level resident would enjoy some of the activities. The director of the facility has been very kind and has answered all questions that we have inundated her with. All in all, Emeritus Creekside is a facility worth looking at. Hopefully it will continue to be the home for my mother.

Comfortable facility with many amenities. Staff is professional but VERY busy. Driver of community van doubles as maintenance staff so non-emergency maintenance requests take time. Food is good although I would hesitate to call it outstanding. All in all good, safe facility in good location.

This is an older property but they are trying to renovate slowly. Food is very good and staff is friendly & helpful. However, during meal times the staff to help on the floor is doing the meals also, so slow to help during those meal times.

Very nice place, lots of activities, units are spacious, but Mom needs more individualized care than they offer and she needs constant monitoring because of risk of falling, and cost is over budget.

The apartment sizes are very nice. The building is older and it does show some wear. The staff for the most part is friendly, not always available to help though. The food seems to be hit and miss. It is mostly served cold like sandwiches and that type of thing if you don't like what is being served your offered a grilled cheese sandwich or my mother-in-law provides her own canned soup. It's a great place if you are holy independent, but if you need assistance, sometimes it takes hours to get help. If you need more information let me know

They underwent a change over in leadership admin and some of the scheduling for appointments went by the wayside and the time frame was too lengthy outside of 90 days nearly to get services started, but overall they have a good community and activities for resident engagement. Just would've appreciated better transition and communication for service continuity.

It was a good experience overall but the facility was in need of updating/maintenance and I didn’t feel this locations was appropriate for my loved one. They provided discounts on room/board and use the term “à la cart” for care services but could provide pricing on individual care services provided which did not make sense.

We were told the facility had staff to handle my mother-in-law’s ostomy, but that has not been the case. We have had to change home health companies multiple times because the facility staff was managing it too frequently and not effectively. The community itself is clean and does not have any odor, though it is not always as polished as expected. Staff interactions have been somewhat inconsistent, and over the past month, there has been a noticeable decline in friendliness, likely due to ongoing challenges with her care needs. Dining could use improvement, as there does not always seem to be a second option beyond a sandwich, and some days that appears to be the only choice. On a positive note, she is having a good time with the activities offered. Overall, we were initially told they could handle her care needs, but we have had to step in and arrange additional outside support, including taking her to a wound care facility to ensure proper care and education.

It was very close to me. I was pleased with the environment. It was very clean. I think one thing I did not care for was the rule that my Aunt wasn't able to have her tray delivered to her room. I wish the laundry would have been done more often. The staff was friendly.

My brother has only been there a couple of weeks. So far he has already had two problems. Most importantly, they had given him a lanyard with a life alert pendant. When he used it in a COPD emergency, it took 10 minutes for them to show up WITHOUT any medical equipment. They had to go back downstairs to get it. He is also having trouble getting them to clean his apartment, which is one of the reasons he moved there since he can’t do it himself. There is very little storage. We had to go buy some plastic drawers so he had a place for his bathroom products.

My mother loves the community. I'm responding from a former position in healthcare. For the $$$, I would like to see more "feet on the ground " and less administration. The "worker bees" likely aren't appropriately compensated for the tasks they are asked to perform. The community needs to be honest about what staff can and can't handle. Some residents are more complex than others.

Overall, I think this facility really cares and tries hard to take good care of its residents. I think turnover and continued having to train new people is a problem for all facilities. Housekeeping is definitely a problem for this facility--turnover is high, quality low.

I’ve lived here for 26 years so it’s home to me. I just wish that we had a front desk receptionist. I’m satisfied with utilities being covered, meals, transportation being included in the cost. Meals and transportation could be better though.

Disappointed in how medical referrals and follow up consistency. But nurse had too many people for just her. Poor weekend coverage. Favorites were the RN and a tech named [name removed].

My Brother was alright at first, but, now complains about the cost went up, food sometimes cold. Medicine has been forgotten. People who deliver washed clothes didn't hang them, just left them in a basket.
