Brookdale is a wonderful place to be! We have great neighbors! We have activities that everyone can participate in. Our weekly happy hours are very happy! The entire staff is great You can't find any better

Only spoke to activities director but she was friendly and helpful. Residents seemed to like her and she knew them all by name.There are activities at the facility but residents are only going out about once a month due to COVID right now. I do like how residents are divided into four areas based on needs and personality. Would consider if I can’t find something near my home. It’s pretty far away and it’s going in towards Houston for me so adds to the time to get there.

Very nice staff and very pretty decor. Dining room is lovely, lots of fun.

as long as your loved one had good mobility but the community is not set up very well for wheelchairs. Make sure to ask questions and make sure they are able to meet your needs. If your loved one is mobile I would recommend this community. They really care about you and your family.

We chose Brookdale Shadowlake at the time because she was at another Brookdale facility so she had already paid the community fee and was comfortable with it so it just made sense. The room sizes at the facility are decent and she says that the food is mediocre. Overall, I would still recommend this community.

The community, in the beginning, it was great because we could see our loved one but its hard covid. The staff is very friendly and they communicate very well. The room sizes are nice and it fits my loved one. I would recommend this community.

It's a good community. COVID had really impacted everything there. There are trying to give you information, keep you updated , and they have been really good about that, but there has been a little bit miscommunication. We chose the community for convenience, it is close to my work. I would recommend this community to other families. The staff are really good and the way the community is set up works really well for my mom and myself.

Smaller community. Older building, but friendly cozy atmosphere. Contact was great and gave useful advice. Not the price range indicated on our sheet. Told there were semi-private rooms, but they only had private.

This is a smaller facility with a family feel to it. The rooms are smaller than my mom wants and the price is high for the little amount of space. If your loved one has dementia, this place has doors that are locked at all times and a staff member must let everyone in or out which is good for their safety. The staff was friendly, and I left informed after my tour.

Dad seems to be adjusting well to living in the memory care area of this community. The caregivers have been helpful and encouraging. They keep the community, dad's room and the grounds nice. Dad has not complained about the food. There were some issues in the beginning with communication between departments, however these issues have since been resolved. I would recommend this community.

My mother has recently made the move into this community and so far everything is going well for her. The staff are attentive to her needs and I am comfortable with the care she is receiving. I am happy to see she has got her appetite back and is eating well during her dinning experience. The chef does a great job with the meals and they always have a wide variety too choose from. The property is well maintained and they have a great activity program to keep the residents busy throughout the week. Overall it has been a pleasant experience and I would recommend it to anyone.

We were very impressed with this community when we toured it. However, at the time my mother was not in the best health and we had found that they may not have enough medical staff to tend to all of my mom's medical needs. However, the community is very nice extremely clean and well maintained and the staff was very friendly and professional. If my mother keeps showing a steady trend of improving then we may consider it necessary to move her here.

I had a pleasant tour of this community. Everything went well. The community looked great, and everything was very nice, and clean. The staff was friendly, and helpful. My tour guide was kind, and informative. It was a good experience, but this was not the facility for me.

This community was our second choice. The staff seemed so upbeat and the community looked well taken care of. They did seem to offer some nice activities. The community we chose just seemed to fit within my loved ones budget better.

Brookdale San Marcos is very clean and comfortable. The food is really good, it is served restaurant style with nice linens and plenty of choices on the menu. I wish they would encourage the resident to mingle more at meal time. Encourage them to change tables to make new friends, my Mom thinks she is assigned to the one table she always sits at. I would like to have more activities for the residents and to encourage my mom to participate more. My mom needs to have help to attend the different activities because she is not as ambulatory as some of the other residents. If she is not personally encouraged and helped to the activities she will just lay in her bed because she is not sure of herself. The staff has called me to let me know she doesn't want to get out of bed and then I call and tell her she needs to get up and get going. They offer Bingo twice a week, and a couple other activities, but again the activities are located far away from her room. They could use more musical entertainment. They provide outdoor activities, feeding the birds, and residents can take walks around the community. They provide transportation for trips to Dr.s, and shopping. They do not transport to Dr's appointments outside of San Marcos area. The staff is very friendly and really sweet. My Mom really loves her nice, huge apartment. We feel Mom is very comfortable here at Brookdale San Marcos.

This was a good tour for us and for getting information on the care that is offered here. We liked that the staff was very nice and attentive to answer the questions we had. The community to be maintained and clean. We like both the activities and the menu that had a lot of nice choices. We would recommend that families tour this community for the care of a loved one.

I had a nice tour of this community. Everyone was friendly, and kind. The staff was cordial, and answered my answered. The community looked nice. Everything went well, but this wasn't the right fit for us. However this is a nice community, and I would recommend for someone to go to take a tour.

For the most part we haven't had any issues with this community since my mothers move here. The only issue we have had, is getting her therapy started. Other than that issue, my mother is doing well. I do feel comfortable with the care they are providing her with. This is a good, safe community, and I would recommend it.
