We toured with Cedar Grove and the sales lady [name removed] is outstanding, but she needs a better product to sell. It was old and depressing. It was more money than [facility name removed] and dad would have had no bathroom in his room.

I like the staff. The staff is nice and they listen and try! The staff work hard but they are understaffed and things and people get missed. Too much is expected for the amount of staff, that they have. And I don't think they are properly trained for some things expected of them. Nurses have to bring trays to residents instead of the dining staff. They have terrible food. And they are no help for food allergies.

The Fountains is a very nice place for a family member who needs extra care. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Updating the building has been taking a while, and sometimes there is a strong urine odor in the hallways.

This was a very nice community. The community was a little more open than what I felt would be good for my loved one with memory care needs.

Residents are very friendly and many are high functioning. It is easy for residents to make friends. Administration is approachable and willing to please and generally very friendly and kind. As of now there is an aid shortage. My mom likes the food some day and complains on a minimal basis. Food is hard to tell, I haven't eaten there. The facility is airy , large and lovely. The rooms are large and vey nice with many having a terrace. The price for the room and overall price I think is less than some. It's in a quiet area tucked in a residential area. The grounds are lovely and they are building a garden. The recreation director is new and great, she tries to involve all residents. There has been a turnover of administrators lately. I like them and they are very approachable and try hard to solve problems. Berlin MD is a great town! Quaint downtown, close to Ocean City, close to outlets and National and state park at Assatinque. It is where wild ponies live. It's 40-45 min to Lewes / Rehoboth Beach where I live. I wish it was closer but it's an easy ride. Hope they resolve their staffing issues , but it seems to be an issue nation wide.

Gull Creek's facility is extremely limited - it's not set up well / doesn’t flow well / is very disjointed. The Executive Director seems really good, and she personally has reached out to me multiple times to follow up. She seems very motivated. My concerns came from the facility itself. It feels like house that has awkward additions on it. I found it confusing to navigate, so I can only imagine how confusing that would be for my loved one with dementia.

This was an average experience for us. My loved ones were there during the pandemic. This caused my loved ones to receive their meals in their room. The community had staffing issues during the time that my loved ones were there.

This was a nice community and very pleasant staff. They had remodeled rooms; however, the common areas weren't as updated.

This community is more of a hotel atmosphere, multi story and they took Medicaid but we felt it was too much of a hotel atmosphere as opposed to a home atmosphere.

Our family had an in person tour and it was a moderate place. There was nothing wrong with it, the apartments were nice, everything was clean but if our loved one did not need memory care they probably would gone here.

We did a virtual tour with this community during Covid. The staff was very friendly and they answered all of our questions. The commuinity just didn't fit our needs at the time.

The one thing that would have changed everything for us is communication. We tried to be very clear about what kind of care my mom needed because of her dementia. And they assured us they could take care of her. But in the end, they couldn't. We were just not very knowledgeable about the level of her dementia, and I just wish at some point somebody would have said to us she needs more care than we can give. And instead, she fell 10 or 11 times while she was there. Those falls were a bad thing, but it's not like she was left alone and unattended for long periods of time. I just don't feel like they were clear with us on what they could handle and what they couldn't. I feel like it was half our fault and half their fault. I don't blame them completely. They kept saying everything is great, its great, it's fine. And it wasn't. I just wish they had told us sooner that this was not going to be a workable situation. We ended up bringing her home and acquiring 24-hour care. And there's no way they could have provided that for her. Some of the staff were so nice, and some were not. But most we dealt with were nice. The activities director was fabulous. She was just so up and happy and just the kind of person you would want to see around old people. She just had such a great vibe. The RNs on the other hand, had really bad communication. And it was during Covid so we couldn't go inside, so communication was more important than ever. They had the whole wrong med list, which was a mess. The community does have a cool communication tool like a portal where all four of us sisters could log into it and ask questions, and they would text back. The CNAs and and activities director were on the portal and responded back, but the medical side was where it was lacking. I think they were spread very thin. I wanted to like the place a lot. It was a cool set-up, and it had such great potential. But I think they were just very understaffed, which I'm sure is an industry-wide problem. I think given a different situation, if you have a parent who doesn't require so much care, its' a cool place and I would recommend it. It just wasn't the right fit for our mom.

We toured this community and the tour was average. The community seemed older and did not fit our needs.

Nice facility,clean, no smells. Has 89 units. 1 bedroom viewed was large enough for home furniture.Large bathroom with HC bathroom. Would be able to get w/c through front door and bathroom. No vet discount. Price is a little high. Age in place +.

I'm not able to get a hold of anyone in administration. I can leave a voicemail, but no one calls me back. They don't hold up their promises. I wouldn't send my loved one here again, since I haven't been happy with it. The community is understaffed.

My mother had difficulty adjusting to the change of moving into an assisted living The staff were pleasant and responsive. The community was reasonably priced. The food was a problem for my mother. The menu choices were not appropriate or palatable to her and seemed to cater to a younger crowd. This facility is large and some apartments are extremely far from the dining room if your loved one has mobility issues. My recommendation is to get everything financial in writing and witnessed with full financial disclosure. The sales representative friended my mom and my mom developed a trust for her, however, she slipped a blank price increase letter under my mom's door and told her to sign it. My mom trusted her and signed the blank document. After that, my mom felt betrayed which contributed to her depression. I believe it could the right place for some people to live but it wasn't a good fit for my mom, I would say look at it for yourself and decide if it will work for your loved one.

Good for Pop (some freedom for him) , but concerned about Mom and lack of memory care. She may wander with unfamiliar surroundings at first, and they may deny her. Not sure if she’ll pass initial assessment. Really liked this place, but again I think the stress on my dad to take care of her will continue. only 2 aides at night doing laundry? No security.
