They kicked my dad out after 4 hours.

I thought we had found a nice place. Building is new clean and didnt smell like pee. We moved my dad in at about noon and had stuff more less sertled in by 2. I left to go get paperwork and lunch and my brothwr went shopping for my dad. On his way out my brother made an offhand remark about how strong my dad was still and if he grabbed you it would take 5 men to get him off. Note my brother is not primary caregiver nor poa. Instead of speaking with either me or his wife, the two responsible parties on record, Sancere took this tale of violence up to regional management. I explained that my brother exagerates and uses hyperbole to make his points. We agreed to have 24 watcher even though he had been evaluated. By 4 pm Sancere said that because he hadnt been admitted they were not going to accept him and we had to leave right then. Then after we were asked to leave they chased my dad down and gave him medications. At that point he was just some man that they were giving pills to.

In the Dark

You don’t get what is advertised. They advertise and told us on a tour there would be an app to keep family informed. There is nothing to keep family informed. When asked about the app that was promised we were told they were “moving away from it” - the same app they had told us about a week before in the tour. There is no platform to communicate with caregivers. I don’t even know who the caregivers are. I know the head nurse and she has been very responsive but she can only do so much. I don’t know if my Dad is eating, take his meds, participating in activities, etc. For a child in elementary school I can get a daily update but I can’t get anything here. They advertise daily emails and quarterly meetings. I haven’t heard a word about a quarterly meeting and haven’t gotten any emails to update me about my Father. It is impossible to get a call back from the executive director. For nearly [price removed] a month this place does not even come close to being worth it.

Horrible

Do not be fooled by the new building and pretty decor. The management team is horrendous. They sell a pretty picture. I can speak mostly for Memory Care. If you don’t mind other residents using your loved ones’ bed as a toilet, missing clothing and bedding repeatedly, staff not obeying your strict orders on medications for your loved ones, than maybe this facility is for you. I have had enough. In the process of relocating my 90 yr old Mom. Not an easy thing to do but not left with many choices. DO NOT PLACE YOUR LOVED ONE HERE. YOU WILL HAVE REGRETS.

After seeing this facility had such bad ratings and also seeing another lovely place we felt really great about, we decided to cancel our visit with Walnut Crossing. Although we politely, but very clearly, had told them we had signed a lease elsewhere they continued to text and call asking us to come see their facility and wanting to know where we were choosing over them. It had been made clear we no longer wished to have dealings with them. Very unprofessional.

Don't do it!

We put my mom in there a few months ago and it has been a disaster. No staff, no care, I guess no problem! Look elsewhere and don't get sucked in by the prices. You get what you pay for.

Look Somewhere Else

The staff is kind, but don't let that fool you. This is the most unprofessional company I've ever experienced. My family member's rent was either withdrawn late, early (causing overdraft fees), double, or never. They never seemed to be able to get their act together. I pulled my family member out after she had fallen and no one had reported it. The state got involved and Walnut Crossing has since been investigated as having violated state codes. My family member went several days in pain because the manager who saw her fall failed to follow protocol and followup with the medical staff. They also seemed to have little training with alzheimers. One evening a nurse was leaving her shift around 6, and brought my family member's night meds on the counter and said, "Don't take this now, take it tonight before you fall asleep." After about 2 minutes with alzheimers, she had obviously forgotten what the pills were for or when to take them. Then there was the time that Walnut Crossing lost an invoice that I needed to submit to the insurance. They had no paper or electronic trace of it, and didn't seem to care. There is a reason this facility is so cheap. You can't buy peace of mind for your loved one!!

Avoid Demaree

Our family had nothing but problems with Demaree Crossing. The sales job was good and the facility is beautiful. However, once we moved our mother into Demaree, all valuable communication stopped. Our mother actually fell and was transported to the hospital, and we were never notified until the emergency room called to ask medical questions. During this same event, the staff put our mother into an ambulance and had no idea which hospital she was going to. We had continual miscommunication between the visiting nurse and Demaree. We were told our mother might have covid and Demaree told us she did not and the Covid test was cancelled. There were calls made to Demaree with questions, and frequently no call was returned. The only highlight to Demaree is that our mother really liked the food. When our mother was placed on hospice, we had the option for her to return to Demaree and we had no confidence that Demaree would be able to care for her even with the assistance of hospice. We chose to take weeks off work to care for our mother at home rather than have her return to Demaree.

Don’t put your family here

The residents need more care than what they are being given. The inside of their rooms have ants and it’s just disgusting. They do not have enough staff or actually qualified staff for the care that needs to be given. Just overall over priced and not very clean.

Poor care - Poor leadership

The community is usually under staffed. They move their staff from assisted living to memory care and back. Usually the CNA's are overworked and over utilized. It all starts at the top with an executive director that only cares about filling the building and not the residents.
