I chose this facility for my grandmother after the sudden death of my grandfather. As you can imagine this was a terrible time for me and my family. I toured about 5 facilities and this is the only facility that gave me the "home" feeling. The staff was so kind, caring and compassionate. We had a meal and a lunch tour, the food was great, it was homemade and served with a smile. My grandmother has been there for about six months and she has turned into a new person. She is social and enjoys the activities as well as the new friends she has made. I recently went and had lunch with her and as soon as lunch was over, she kicked me out to load the bus and go for an afternoon drive. (I have never been so happy to be asked to leave.... haha) Thank you for having such a great place for my grandmother to call home at the age of 90!

The community was nice but there were just some things that I felt that would not work well for my loved one. He is older and not in many activities so the community was a little too big for my loved ones needs. The community was not bad just did not work for my loved one.

The staff has made my mother feel very welcome and a part of the community. They have been wonderful about communicating my mothers needs and identifying services that will benefit her.

Positive is it feels more like a home versus a facility which makes it more comfortable. The staff is very warm with the residents which also makes them comfortable. Quiet environment. Residents are a community that look out for one another. Negative its assisted living so there is no locked section for those with memory issues that may wander

The main reason we chose Regent of Newport News is because they didn't price nursing care separate from room and board .

Staff is loving and kind (for the most part), they treat my Mom like she is their family and never fail to tell me they love her. The ate affectionate with her and she feels safe there. I trust them with her care--which is saying a LOT. Activities are ok. I would like to see more that require physical movement (bowling, balloon toss ...) and require less auditory commands (Bingo) Food is meh...some times too spicy for a senior pallet. I do appreciate the fact that they try to keep residents in the "least restrictive" environment and go the extra mile to keep my Mom in ALF and out of memory care. Residents look out for and care for/about their fellow residents. I love the routine environment. My Mom has done well there. I did just get my monthly statement with a huge (1K) increase, without a prior notice...would have appreciated a heads up on that! I am planning to speak to Wanda concerning that. I do realize that many utilities have sky rocketed so I understand the possible reasons. Just would have liked a notice with reasons for increase.

An explanation about the food. We have a new cook, [name removed], he's very good, much better than the one before him. However, he can only cook what they give him. They changed food vendors to [name removed] about 2 month or so ago, and the food quality has declined markedly. They stopped serving Pepsi, Coke and went to another brand that's in mini cans. Yuck. The meat is in invariably tough. If meet us on the menu I always try to remember to bring my chainsaw. I usually don't even attempt it. Cube steak, pork chops, etc are all tough as shoe leather. Fish is fine. Aside from that I'm happy living here. Residents are nice, administration is nice and friendly that a question of competence at times. Feel free to get back to me if you'd like.

Staff was very good and more than helpful. Took a week before they had all her drugs in spite of being assured that they were all there. After that just fine. The facility was really fine. Always clean etc.

The price is right for the services received. I have been here for one full year and am sure l made the best choice. Apartments are ample size with a walk in closet and a double closet in the bedroom. Handheld showers, security bars and towel bars in the bathroom are secured safely. There is a light cleaning provided every other week. The staff has always been kind and helpful. A continental breakfast is served five days a week as well as dinner each evening. Weekend dinners are provided on Friday night to be taken to your apartment where you can reheat it. Overall I'm very happy with my choice here at Northridge Senior Apartments.

Everyone is friendly. Everyone knows each other very well. Food is very good with several choices . Have to keep up with your medication they have "ran out" of dad's pain meds on several occasions. They respond well on any issues (maintenance, food, needing medical just what ever). As with all assessed living facilities they have a nice program of activities. With something special going on regularly. Although like most they have little activities most men would find interesting. They are open to suggestions Although it's difficult to find a practical and of interest for most men.

Mom is a handful to take care of, she constantly removes her pull-up and the plastic sheet from her sofa. [name removed] staff all knows Mom by name and are super friendly to her and family.

Putting the People you care for in a facility is hard on its own but overall care is good. I would recommend the facility if the loved one is Mobil and not as wheelchair bound as my loved one. The management staff are on top of their items they are handling but there is some disconnect with the nursing staff that actually handles the care. 8 out of 10 caregivers work wonderfully with the clients but there are always a few that spoil the bunch.The therapy group and the hairdresser that we have dealt with are wonderful. Loved one was pleasantly pleased with the kitchen and food. I have dealt with a couple facilities and this one is one of the better ones.

My mom was a resident at The Lakes at Jefferson for a short time before she passed away. I think that the place was beautiful, but the management was very slow to respond to anything. I also don't think that my mom got the assistance that she needed for her age. I feel that the staff needs to be more hands on with the residents. For example: my mom needed help to get to the bathroom. After they got her there they would leave and wait outside her room with the door closed. I feel that someone should have been there with her given her age. Also, they would send in very inexperienced staff who didn't know how to handle her. Of course, I understand that with Covid staff was short and hard to find. The experienced staff was very good. The Kindred Hospice team was fantastic. Compered to her last facility, this facility was much better and I would recommend it to anyone.

Nice place, but it took them way too long to start helping my mom with her care. There were some health scares with swollen feet, etc, that remained unnoticed. That should have been addressed immediately. They took her inhalers away. And she needed them as she has COPD. People were very nice and they enjoyed the activities. Food was a bit salty at times for people with heart issues. Other than that, they liked the place. But they are glad to be back home while they still can.

This facility is a good place and has been so good for my loved one. They're always friendly towards my family and try hard to help with all of my loved one's needs. I visit twice a week at different times of the day and it's always great. The food is good quality and variety. They have a good variety of activities and try to do a lot with those. There's always something going on with their activities. Communication with the family is good. Anytime I call, I always get a response. I'm able to communicate with the nurses and aides as needed. Housekeeping is often and my loved one's room is always clean. Overall, it's been a good experience. I would recommend this facility to family and friends. This facility is the most affordable place that we found in our area.

The bathrooms could be cleaned more often. Most of the time, my loved one likes the food. My loved one likes the activities. Overall, everything is fine.

This community is beautiful. The staff takes good care of my father and seem to have a good time. Everyone is so friendly. The food is good. The staff seems to really care about their patients. The staff includes the family in a lot of activities for example they have a thanksgiving dinner that they invite the residents family to.

Assisted means assisted. Know what care you need. Tessera was great. My loved one ended up needing nursing home not assisted and not memory care, so she went home.

While no place is perfect, Tessera was a cut above the other facilities I dealt with. The staff were always helpful: [name removed]at the reception desk, and especially the sales manager, [name removed], who went above and beyond helping me get my mother in there. My mother was always treated with respect and dignity during what ended up being the last few months of her life.
