Visit went well. MHM is a wonderful facility, but it seems geared more to a memory care resident as opposed to a minimal-care assisted living resident. There will be an opening soon, but only in a semi-private capacity.

Largest living quarters, everyone gets a 1 bedroom with screen in patio (though patio is 2 steps down). However, Medicaid-supported residents are all located in one wing, and I am sure there must be a social stigma since everyone can tell that group is poor.

I liked this place and it was second on my list.

We took a tour of the new facility, very nice, location perfect.

Very small room and walk down the hall to the shower was not good. The lunch room was just a lunch room not what we were expecting.

I was met at the desk with Director and giving the grand tour. Although this place is very nice I thought it was a little smaller in size than Sterling House. Director was very professional and answered all my questions.

I toured and took my mother there the next day to look at the one bedroom on the first floor that was available. The director was engaged with the residents and staff. The room itself has an odd wall between the living room and bedroom, but nice windows that look out on the wooded property. My main concern was with cleanliness. During my first tour we passed an open door to a unit and it reeked of urine. Upstairs I thought there was a hint of that as well. On the second visit, looking at the one bedroom, the toilet didn't look all that clean and it looked like dirt or mold between the toilet and the tub. I like that it is within walking distance from my house, but am undecided.

MY mom loved this place and the people who lived and worked there. the building was clean and oder free the residents were happy and well cared for. the memory care was good for my mom she never forgot when BINGO was going on. The meals were healthy and my mom enjoyed them very much and even though she claimed not to have any appitite she ate everything on her plate

My mom is doing okay. For what I am paying, she could get better care. To have better communication with the nurse and a cleaner room for mom. It is always dirty, the hallways are dirty.

The facility is clean and odor free but I am not impressed with caregiving services or activities offered/ carried out. Pretty boring place for your loved one to live. Caregiving on the weekends is minimal. They are more attached to their phones then to your loved one.

It's been fine, but there has been some confusion, on and off, about the prices. However we have figured it out now. The care and the cleanliness have been fine. One thing I've noticed is in the assisted care they always had a choice at meal time, but that isn't always the case in memory care. The staff seem to all be pretty pleasant and helpful. We chose them based on location, it was close to family and she already knew a few people.

The attentiveness is not what I had expected. It took a long time to get everyone on the same page. Because of that she hasn't been able to enjoy the amenities of the facility like I had hoped. They recently got new owners, so hopefully things go smoother.

Unfortunately, Emeritus was bought out by the giant Brookdale chain of AL homes. This gives families fewer options. We have not had good experiences with Brookdale in general, but this was a former Emertius facility and not too far away. The positives? it is set up in small cottages of about 15 residents. I like this set up -- it is less overwhelming, and easier to navigate, especially for seniors with memory problems. It's newer and cheerful looking with a fireplace in the living area and a pleasant, sunny dining room. Being smaller, it has more of a family feeling than institutional. One building is a community center for activities. Staff was friendly but brusque. This was the shortest tour by far we had, in and out. We were not invited to try the food. (In our other experiences, Brookdale food is mediocre at best. Food is cooked in a central location, and carted into the cottages, a recipe for lukewarm reheated foods.) Negative: for what you get, I felt this was costly. It was more than other facilities in the area. Rooms are on the small side, without even a small area (microwave, dorm fridge, etc.) for personal food prep. Closet space was fair. The worst feature was the bathroom is tiny and just a toilet and sink -- like a hospital. Very little storage for cosmetics or toiletries! There is only ONE shower for 15 people! That seemed very skimpy. There is also a walk-in tub, but I felt that most handicapped seniors would not be able to use this, even with assistance. It also means you must get wet, then travel back through the building to your room! With male and female residents, this seemed to give a lack of real privacy. (Not everyone wants to be seen in a bathrobe, with wet hair!) There are facilities in the area where the same monthly fee would get you a small kitchenette, a FULL private bathroom and even a separate sitting/living space. Not just a single room. For more active, cognizant seniors having only one small hospital-type room -- with almost no space for furnishings -- a big come-down from a house or apartment and would be stressful. For a senior with memory issues or dementia, it might be fine. Convenient location near Lake West hospital, eateries, Target, freeway. Located right behind Steak N' Shake.

I was impressed with the initial tour. cleanliness was superb! Not sure about food or staff. Only inquired. But not fond of the bait n switch technique. Make sure you’re aware of any hidden costs. My loved one was quoted one price but was raised to another tier without even seeing my loved one walk. I don’t know what the criteria was to be placed on specific tiers and was never told why. I feel like someone in sales makes the tier determination to get more money. Shady tactics in my opinion.

A little expensive for the care our loved one receives. They are understaffed and have long wait time after pushing call button before staff comes to assist. I would probably not recommend this community at this point. I believe they were bought bulk another company and so lots of staffing issues and shortages.

I would tell a friend, don't go there. My loved one should have compression socks on, and never has them. My loved one has fallen several times and they don't take it as serious as they should.

Our family member was declining quickly and the staff did the best they could to keep her there. They are severely understaffed. It took 3 months to get her first & final bill. Our family member died shortly after her admission, not related to the care she received.

I would definitely let them know about the issues with the facility. Especially for the price to live there, you should be able to have a reasonable amount of a better quality of life than what they give.
