I toured this facility and it wasn't as clean as the others that I toured. The staff was very friendly, but cleanliness just wasn't there. Right down to the dirty floors in the corners of the elevator. It wasn't the place for our loved one.

I walked out after our tour and knew this was not the place for us. The hallways were very narrow and the room sizes were super small especially compared to what she has now. I did not like that after lunch they put all of the memory care residents into one room. All 30 of them were just sitting in their wheelchairs with their heads slumped over. The assisted living side of the facility looked ok, but I did not like the memory care side at all.

A family member was a resident and moved out. Cannot recommend this facility. Current Management is over her head and ruining the reputation of the facility. The staff lacks compassion and does not do their job. If you need any level of care, this is not the place for you. Don't ask the front desk for assistance, she is rude to guests and residents and not at all helpful. Residents appear to be sedated, constantly sleeping in wheelchairs at all hours. Would not feel comfortable with a loved one living here, wish my loved one had moved out sooner.

Based on our tour, I thought The Chelsea was horrific. When we walked in, they had their residents in wheelchairs sitting all around the concierge area. And a lot of them were out of it and slumped over in their chairs. It just didn’t give a very nice impression. Also, the smell of disinfectant hit you in the face so strongly that my first thought was - if that smell is so strong, what smell are they trying to hide?

My loved one was here for about 3 weeks and during that time he was progressing very nicely and things were going great. He took a really bad turn and when they took him to the hospital it turned out he had covid. When we notified the facility, I am not sure what their protocol was before or after for the residents who are there because we had no interaction with them. This is the only concern I had about the place at all, everything else we were extremely satisfied with. He was happy and thriving before, he was participating in all of the activities and really enjoying it. All of the staff were great and we really liked the facility and we were happy with our choice.

Our family had an in person tour and we were very disappointed, we did not like it at all. The lady took us on the tour only on the assisted living, we had to ask to see the memory care residents. We saw them sitting in the art room with no paper, no things to color with, no music or TV on, the residents were just sitting there and we did not like that at all.

The administration staff would be a five out of five, but aids that give one on one care would be a two out of five.

Did not get a good first impression. Residents seemed very subdued. The inside smelled a bit and the floor in the dining room was sticky. I believe they said that have 30% Medicaid vs. state minimum of 6%

Rooms are minimal. No ceiling lights. Wall air conditioners do not cool off the room properly. No refrigerator allowed. No pets allowed to stay with resident. No guest meals when visiting. Only 2 choices for meals which are cheap................ghoulash a choice!! No soup. No fresh fruit or snack bar available 24 hours. No everyday menu such as a hamburger or grilled cheese sandwich. Only decaf was served until just recently after complaint. Coffee is still terrible. Pre-schoolers from a daycare are brought into the facility to spread germs to many for cheap entertainment. Perpetual colds is not fun. Stupidity cannot be cured in this place.

Felt very cold, and not temperature-wise.

This place was wonderful for a period of time, but things have changed for the worse at this facility. "Something" happened and several people were fired. They are now without several key positions and seem to be quite understaffed. While everyone is very friendly and the facility is gorgeous, the level of care misses the mark and there is no communication. There seems to be a "don't ask questions, we're handling everything and you don't need to know" kind of attitude. Calls to check on my loved one go unreturned, despite many friendly responses that they'll have someone get back with me. No one ever does. When we're there, we're told that everyone is too busy to talk to us and someone will phone is later. No one ever does. The physician's assistant that sees residents doesn't follow up either, despite medicine changes and medical issues. In a nutshell, if you move a loved one here, you're turning them over to a staff and hoping for the best. You will not know what truly is going on. It's almost creepy. Everyone smiles and says everything is great, but no one seems to be able to elaborate on anything (new bruises, changes in behavior, medicine changes, etc.) other than they'll get the answer and get back with you... Which doesn't happen. They're too busy.

Our experience with Chelsea at Tinton Falls was not a good one. They could have been much more thorough with their evaluation of my loved one. They told us they'd be able to handle it no problem, and by the second day we had to hire outside help, and shortly after that they told us we'd have to move her. The place just feels understaffed in general for the level of care they are claiming they provide. If you're planning on placing a loved one here I'd be very wary and double check that they are actually a match for what the community provides.

Our experience with The Chelsea was not a good one. My loved one lived here for a time, and the quality of the care eventually got so bad that we had to move him. They seem understaffed, and the staff they do have are often inattentive. Whenever I would visit I would see a lot of employees playing on their phones. I would not recommend this place.

I love the Chelsea! My mom has been here for 2 years but the new administrator puts a bad taste in My mouth. Very distant/cares more about herself then interacting with the residents or staff. I’m really happy with the care and social interaction however.

My first impression is place is in need of a major "facelift". Specifically, found spider webs, live spider crawling on the wall, chipped paint and dust. Residents appeared to be depressed, listless and not really happy. Staff also needs more professional customer skills. Screaming at the relative of a potential resident is totally unprofessional.

I would tell others not to send a family member here. Constant turn over of administrative staff, single elevator on the assisted living side frequently down. They feel as though if they bring food and arts and crafts to the second floor residents then they have done their job. No consideration if residents have appointments to attend. Dining quality has decreased significantly

I am sorry to say at this point clear steer away from this facility-It has gone so far south in the last year and a half. It’s hard to describe how little they care about the people who live there. The management company Distinctive Living, director, J[name removed]and the [name removed] lawyer could not be LESS empathetic, compassionate and concerned. The conversations that have been had with them are so frustrating and sad There has only been one working elevator for months. It is a safety issue. The general council knows about this so does the director of the facility. I can’t even imagine what would happen if they were a fire and all the people upstairs in a wheelchair were trapped, but they purposefully for months and months pretended the broken elevator was being used for a family moving in. Suddenly I wrote this review and they finally fixed it but it was broken for 8 months. The place in Pennsylvania. exploded and all of these residents are on the second floor, think about it….

Absolutely horrifying experience all the care of the resident is done by the care team. It all looks good on social media. Definitely put a camera in the room. I have so many videos . I think people will be very, very shocked on how the resident is treated the food is absolutely terrible especially if you’re not feeling good and have to bring it to the room. It’s ice cold and these are all facts and I have videos to prove it do not believe what you’re seeing on Facebook do not believe what you’re seeing on any social media go in person and visit and make sure you look at the rooms. Make sure you look at the number of staffs. It doesn’t matter if the person that signed you up tells you a story it doesn’t matter that the director tells you so many things. Once that resident pays [removed price] a month and gets settled in there you were on your own and the back gate is always open and people can come in. There’s not much Security.

Not professional or responsive I would not recommend them. They can improve by being more responsive to family members and caregivers of prospective clients and communication of the process from start to finish would have helped.

Terrible place. We only let my mother stay there for 19 days. The only good thing I could say is the food and food service was good
