Dial Retirement Communities

We used SilverCrest for a 7 day stay for my wife with LBD. The initial review with an intake person indicated we would be charge for 7 days and my wife would have help feeding herself (I had the impression the intake person was new on the job and not too good at it). When we checked in we were informed we would be charged for 8 days and they could not help her eat. They relented on both those changes and my wife was checked in. Friends visited her during the week and found her unattended in a general memory unit where she was slumped in a wheelchair. At the end of our stay they informed us we could not bring my wife back because they were not staffed to help her eat. So the care here was not the best and they are no longer an option to house my wife because of their limited ability to care for the special needs of LBD disabled people.

She was safe and comfortable for 3 weeks respite.

I think a lot of changes have been made... some of the staff were let go which is good!! Some were great and some shouldn't have been there. The facility is very nice and overall staff in the building. Unfortunately my mom was told she needed to be in memory care and had a very bad experience... mostly with the people

mom was there for respite and I don't think they encouraged her enough to get out of her room. Every resident we ran across did they were not happy and planning on moving out. the place was very clean and new appearing. Quality of care - For assisted living probably good quality, but for someone in respite, not attentive enough. mom is a picky eater so hard to say about meals. Activities - Lots to choose from but mom didn't do any so I can't rate it. We just did the respite, I can't speak for the assisted living. I give it a 4 for value.

Nice place, prices are fair, needs better help not as trained or qualified as they should be. Should return funds when they say they will.

Place is great as long as you are aging gracefully. Once a serious illness happens, the care diminished greatly. For paying $[removed]k+ a month, we expected much more in care than was received the last month she was there before hospitalization.

There is no certified nurse overnight just 1 cna. Sometimes mom has gotten the wrong meds at night. At least she knows what she takes so she could correct them. Sometimes they don't get her meal order if she stays in her room so she doesn't get a meal. You cannot sit at any table at meal time. It is assigned seats. Meals take a long time to get your order and a long time to get the food. The menu is often different than what they serve. Food just needs help! Very spicy sometimes.

On Labor Day a couple days ago, we went to the Jackson Creek barbecue with music and a petting zoo. It was supposed to go from 11 to 1 o’clock. Some of us were not even done eating and enjoying the music and the petting zoo and We felt very rushed out. They started closing the doors and taking the music and the petting zoo down at 12:30 and we were just enjoying sitting there and they were breaking up the chairs and tents. We felt very rushed out.. I know the workers are very hard workers and I understand it was a holiday however, if the workers are too tired to put a good show and a good barbecue, then they should have a party team come in and visit with people and serve and make it really a fun fulfilled time without making people feel rushed. There needs to be a lot more live music and extended times. People love music and it helps them relax.

Look somewhere else. Too many people should have been in memory care but not enough beds.

Overall review is mixed. There was some really good staff, but felt too institutional. Well they tried on cleanliness, but there was occasional dog poop in hallway. There was mostly good staff. Meals were not the best. There was an overload of activities. That's not bad, I enjoyed them. But the constant reminders over the speakers in each room, were annoying. No quiet time. I'm paying less where I am now & feel I'm getting my money's worth at my new community. My room was much smaller. As I was leaving this community they were starting to add charges for previously free services. We could not sit around and visit while dining because someone else was waiting for you spot.

There has been a management change since she moved in. I think they need more care personnel in assisted living and in the dining room. There are lots of opportunities for things to do if you take the initiative to seek them out.

This is a very beautiful and inviting facility. The majority of the staff is friendly and caring. Our mother is now in the memory care unit and like every care facility they are having difficulty finding qualified staff. Someone from our family visits our mother daily so we see problems other families may not see. The communication between the nursing management and nurses and aides is poor, resulting in avoidable mistakes and untrained staff. The hospice care my mother receives helps immensely with her care.

Areas of improvements - Better trained staff that are more professional, smaller dining tables like mostly 2&4 tops so people can hear each other, regular exercise classes that aren't canceled or scheduled during breakfast hours, better pest control. We appreciate the transportation service provided. The food is not good and the activities are often canceled at the last minute. The rooms are lovely

One thing I would do differently if looking for senior living again is spend more time at the facility prior to making a decision and see how engaged residents are as a community. My sense of the Landings at the time was that residents kept to themselves a lot. Not a great fit for my socially active father. Had some activities planned but I'm sure if they were well attended. Not much variety and pretty stereotypical for a senior living facility.

I think the facilities and the staff are very good. Housekeeping and laundry is done weekly. Personally, I find the staff very helpful in everything I've asked of them . I don't eat there, but my loved one sometimes likes the meals and sometimes not, just like others. There are meals where I'm at that are good and some not. Overall, the rent is quite high, but I'm sure it's in line with other places.

We took a tour of Deer Park Village during our search for an Independent Living facility for our loved one. This facility was okay. The atmosphere seemed cozy and comfortable. Everyone was friendly during our tour.

My loved one is currently a resident at Silvercrest at Deercreek and overall the experience has been good. The staff has been very helpful. The food seems to be okay, but my mom complains about everything. I do wish that the housekeeping was done more often than every other week. Overall, the facility is serving its purpose. I guess I would recommend this facility to others.

My mother in law thought Lake Barrington was dark and she didn't like the vibe there. The apartment they showed us was dated and very dark. She loves having her own washer and dryer in her apartment at [removed]. The elevators there were really slow and she didn't like that either. She knew immediately that Lake Barrington Woods was not the place for her. People were very nice, but she didn't like it. She also likes that the independent living is separate from most of the assisted living and totally separate from memory care. But she likes to know that those communities are available to her as she gets older. At Lake Barrington Woods they have mixed living and it kind of felt like a college dorm totally different from [removed].

Our family had an in person tour with Silvercrest College View and it was a really nice facility but very large , it was close to a busy intersection and they had 3 different floors which was a negative for our loved one.

Legacy closed Memory Care which is why we selected them. The closing notice was not handled well. And now we have to start searching again. They are transferring residents to Stirlingshire. The memory care unit there doesn't have very good reviews, either. (I would read the reviews before recommending them again). Seems like Covid as greatly affected staffing levels at both places. I get things second hand, but I am going to visit at the end of the month. Going to speak with [name removed] to see if I can get some more background. But, she has not responded to my emails which we will discuss as well. Things happen, it is how they respond that will count. It was extremely disappointing to know my parents will have to move again for my Dad to be close. A letter with no warning was not the way to handle that big of a change.
