What stood out most about this facility is the in-town location and the small Memory Care unit.

I have heard some complaints about the food, but I think it is on the upward mend. We did have a lot of billing issues and it took us a long time to get that all corrected and sorted out. [name removed], the directors assistant, who we spoke with was very helpful and friendly and tried to help us the best she could. The bills they give are hard to read and very confusing.

My loved one lived in this community previously. There were a lot of issues with staffing and communication. The facility itself was nice and modern. On one occasion, my loved one was not feeling well. The nurse wouldn't take her vitals and told us that if we want things like that done we need to go to urgent care. They were undergoing a change in management as we were leaving, so hopefully things have improved. They also didn't offer diabetic care, which is something we needed for our loved one.

My father has been there a little over a year and I believe there has been 3 different general managers running the place. The amenities are great, sadly my father just sits in his room and doesn't socialize, so not sure it is worth the cost for him. But for those who do like to do things and meet people, it seems lovely. The food has taken a turn since COVID and the cost cutting measures are definitely noticed with less and less meat/protein and more noodles. But still good.

If your family member has mental health issues, trust issues or wondering you don’t want them here. Safety is a big issue here. You have staff doing drugs, drinking, residents who get attacked in their own apartment. Clients who are paying for services that are not being done. You have a kitchen server running the resident coordinator.

They are having a very high turnover rate in their kitchen and dining room staff. They can't seem to keep a chef there more than a few months. They also fired one of their handyman and I'm not sure why? I'm beginning to wonder if the management there is difficult to work for.

Deer Park Village appeared to be an older community compared to other communities we looked at. This seemed to be a bit of a quieter community than my loved one needed.

The community is brand new and just gorgeous. It is very nice, well appointment and modern looking. We do see an activities calendar, we just aren't sure how many activities are actually going on.

There folks are really nice. Unfortunately they’re a running a corporate place. Every thing on the cheap. They’re internet is ridiculous. They’re not very good with their menu., generally although on the cheap. There maintenance is also questionable. I stayed without electrical and I can’t them to fix it. About a week later someone showed up, with still no fix. Nice folks just grifters.

This tour was fine but the location and the size of the community was the determining factor for what community we wanted to pick.

We felt this facility did not offer as much independence as my parents were looking for. It was also higher priced.

The people that are there, the worker-bees are fantastic and very kind, but on the other hand the management is not the best, that area could use some improvement. They just hired a new activities director, which was an area they were lacking in, but so far she seems to be doing a really good job with things. The residents who live there are very outgoing. They just hired a new chef, and the meal's aren't to bad, about average. It is a different style of cooking our loved one is adjusting to. The community also has had some trouble keeping their house keeping staffed.

I toured this one three times, only because it was definitely a contender. I toured once before Covid, and that tour experience I would rate a 4. And then I had two virtual tours during Covid, which I would rate a 2. With the virtual tour, they had us sit in an outdoor area with an iPad while a person walked through the facility with his phone and showed us around on a video call. I don’t fault him at all for the virtual tour. They were just following protocols and not allowing visitors into the building. On my third tour, I met their whole executive team as well as the head nurse and memory care coordinator. I was impressed with the staff, except for the general manager - nothing I could pinpoint, he just kind of rubbed me the wrong way. Their team hinted that maybe my loved one should go into memory care and not assisted living. But I appreciated that at least they were open and honest about that.

Communication was very good between the staff and myself. They kept us well informed and kept us up to date. The staff was very friendly, kind, and helpful. The community was extremely neat and clean also.

Within budget but on the higher end. Has many of the options grandma asked for. Good location. Something about the conversation made me feel uneasy, Is perhaps too independent, charges extra for some of the nursing care.

It is a big adjustment for someone to move into a Senior Living community. The room sizes are nice. It is a long walk for a lot of people to get to the elevators. They have a small patio for outdoor space. My mom has had good and bad experiences with the staff.

Large place, focused on features vs. the care we needed. Many room options. Didn't explain waiting list process when asked multiple times. Currently upgrading some rooms. Wasn't able to explain how levels of care would cost since they said it would be a-la-cart. The rating really depends upon what is important to the people moving in. The room sizes were very nice.

Spoke with [name removed] on [date removed]. Rooms too small. Good location in Hinsdale. 1 RN on staff. Use LPN's and certified nurses. Not an old school house - just the way they built it to fit in the town.

I toured here with my loved ones while looking for a new place for them. The community itself was nice enough, but it just did not have the level of care we needed. It was very similar to the community they were preparing to move out of, so we continued our search to find a place with more advanced levels of care.

So far my mother in law is doing pretty with her move to this community. Everyone have been very kind, and helpful. She is starting to adjust to the community, and we know she is in good hands. They have lovely staff at this community, and I would recommend it.
