Great place for loved one as long as they are able to in some way help themselves. Not suggested as full care facility. Understaffed for full care. My mother was there and I met several people who were there daily to tend for loved one. I suggest you talk to family of loved ones that require full care and that have been there for sometime and they will also tell you how understaffed they are for full care. Take mind, this is a nice facility but not for full care. To their defense I have found that to be an issue with all facilities. Overall staff was excellent but overwhelmed. Saw several good employees come and go. I rated per my experience as a full care facility. Again, excellent place for loved one but not as full care. Again, to their defense was the best of all facilities that I've experienced.

We looked at the Garden Villas North when we were looking at placed for my dad. I found that I didn’t really like the decor of the community. It’s too flashy. It reminds you of a casino; all the bright colors. It just wasn’t a good fit for dad.

I am very familiar with this community as my mother had been here. They have done a great job with the remodel and the staff did a very good job showing us around, they were friendly and answered all our questions. We were not too impressed with the food but the grounds are beautiful, with an outdoor pool in the center of the community. My father-in-law said that he just did not get the feeling that the residents were as active as he is and that he would not fit in very well here.

The community has been or is being renovated and is very attractive. We have a variety of activities that should please everyone, however would it be possible to make announcements about activities over the all. Call once again.

I like this facility - it is comfortable and friendly.

When i took a tour of this community i was not very happy with what i saw. The residents were just sitting and the staff weren't trying to help them engage in any activities. The staff that i met were nice with me as well as the tour guide. The community was clean. The guide explained the meal plans available that they had.

At this particular time this did not seem to be a good fit for our loved ones. It was too far away for us to be as involved as we would like. There was a lot of upheaval due to construction and the staff seemed very scattered and wearing too many hats.

I am not overly happy with them. There are a lot of things I would like to see improved or done differently. One of the amenities they offer for convenience, is storage, but I keep being told there are none available. I have a broken closet that hasn't been fixed in two weeks. There is a washing machine that breaks down every other day. In the dining room it says service with a smile, but there is no way to get that. I would give the people in the dining room a two, and the food about a three and a half. I think the front desk staff and the director Dawn, are wonderful. They have bingo twice a week, and a happy hour with hors d'oeurves, and water aerobics, with an instructor who doesn't know anything, she just sits there. Other than that there isn't much to do, especially after dinner. We have been here over a month and we have yet to be shown where stuff is. We still don't know where the movies are shown. We chose this because it was the most reasonable place, and I really liked the indoor pool. Everything here is small, and all of the activities happen in the same area. It would be nice to see them encourage more people to get out, and participate.

I do enjoy living here, my concern is so many of our good help is leaving us. It makes me feel bad. When you worry it makes you want to look elsewhere!

The one bedroom apartment was lovely. Very open, clean and bright. Prior to coming, we were "wined & dined" and made to feel welcome! After her arrival, my mother was NEVER introduced to ANYONE or made to feel part of the community. The administrators NEVER welcomed her or visited her to see if she had any needs/concerns. We were not given any guidelines or "rules". The most helpful and truly impressive staff members were the 2 maintenance men who were absolute dreams!!! They made every attempt to make mom feel like her apartment was home. After 3 weeks, Mom wanted to leave, and just as the welcome was, so was the departure. NO ONE came to say "goodbye"!!

They do not provide a lot of assistance. We thought that they would provide more assistance than they did when we moved our parents in. The room sizes are good and apartment had an open layout. The food is okay.

Garden Villa was transitioning from Independent living place to Assisted Living. My mom needed more assistance than they offered. She would not leave her room for meals at Garden. She could not get her dog outside without help and she was on 3rd floor. The shower and tv did not work in her room for two weeks. She fell early in the morning going to restroom and wasn't helped for three hours. She left there for two weeks of rehab at another center. Garden did refund some of our monthly fee. Garden was also less expensive.

The head nurse rarely leaves her office. My mom had at least 4 UTIs in 6 months, the last one caused a kidney infection. She fell in her bathroom because it was wet from a leaking toilet. Her mirrored closet doors kept falling down. My sister and I had to change her bed regularly because they couldn't be bothered to make sure that she had Depends on. I have nothing good to say about the place and I have moved her from there.

Shortly after moving here money was stolen from my purse. l reported it but as of today l have none been reimbursed. I moved here on the [date removed]. I also have trouble getting items that l have ordered delivered to me. I ordered items from Walmart and have a photo showing that 2 sacks were delivered to front desk but l only received 1 sack. I have been told that someone took the items in 1 sack and put them in the other sack but the other sack was full and that's why there was a second sack. So far l am out [price removed] and will not get my money back as l have tried numerous times.

Over the last month the services provided by GVO has dramatically decreased. This is now week four where the residents are being FORCED to eat dinner in their rooms. This is due to the fact that GVO can’t keep enough folks employed to provide services the resident’s are paying for. When you have servers leaving to go to fast food restaurants that tells you something about the wages they pay to their employees. Multiple calls to both GVO and Delmar HQ for the last week have had little if any response. At one time, Delmar and GVO was the place to go., but not anymore. The lack of true concern for the residents now has me looking at other facilities for my family members.

My mother spent four years at Delmar in the recent past. Every year the quality of care diminished. Her last few months before she died, they SAID she fell from the bed and broke some bones but truth is she couldn't roll over to fall. The nurse said to me, "maybe she'll stay put now". A CNA told me she was mad at other CNA personnel because of what they had done to her. RUN AWAY. What you see is not what you get. You get nothing!!!

over budget and did not have positive feeling about staff when at facility

This building is beautiful - and the staff as a whole is excellent. However the new manager, after near-year, still does not mingle with us. Nor does she know our names. Hours have been cut and people needing help do not receive it. A resedant who is , frankly evil, runs amok and in her underwear, calls the police, etc. and the manager just says she can't do anything. Sad, Sad, Sad!

Their initial brochure needs a distinct overhall,with more transparency available. There is more than gold that doesn't glitter. They don't clarify services,until you have severe ties with your previous residence. If you are in assisted living,your medications are locked up,and issued by a caregiver. Your prescriptions are required,to be purchased through Kroger pharmacy,or you are forced,to pay $5.00,for each medication,to be "bubble packed>" Assistance with bathing is only 2 (Two) showers per week;and the remaining days you'll have to hire someone to bathe your loved one. Medical transportation is two days a week,with reservations required one week in adv ance. The main dining room is "OFF LIMITS",to those assigned as "Assisted Living Residents." You are mandated,to a separate dining area.that is depressing. I am not aware of how Independent residents are treated;but Assisted Living I consider as Second Class.

My father was here for around 16 months. My siblings were disappointed at the care he received. Unfortunately he was very coherent but was bed ridden. He had to wait for long periods of time for help from staff. There was a large turnover of staff to complicate matters. The in-house doctor misdiagnosed dad and was slow to respond to big issues. Our family had to overcompensate to keep dad well and safe. Even when dad passed away suddenly at this facility there was a lack of compassion and care.
